    my favourite spot to end up in ftl: lvl 1 medbay, one crewmember left, and literally no oxygen remaining on the ship

    That sounds like my PC when failed to boot the BIOS.

    What order do they happen within a frame? O2 does damage first then medbay heals, or medbay heals then O2 does damage? Does it matter?

    • @mikehopley
      @mikehopley  7 месяцев назад +2

      I've no idea -- this is the only time I've ever seen this happen too. It was during a random test run where I was trying something out. I would guess that the damage / healing is batched from all sources and then applied in one go.

      Based on this video, it looks like damage must be dealt first- the crew drops to 25 HP then comes back. If it were the other way around, it would be going 27 and then back, so no noise.

    • @mikehopley
      @mikehopley  7 месяцев назад +2

      @@GlaurungTheGreat That makes sense, given that crew health is a float and they're taking tiny amounts of damage per frame.

    you can easily escape the loop by upgrading Oxygen and/or medbay

    • @mikehopley
      @mikehopley  7 месяцев назад +7

      Thanks, but this isn't a real run, as you may be able to tell from my unspent scrap. Also upgrading broken systems doesn't help, they stay broken.

      @@mikehopley pretty sure it does, I'll have to test that, but the medbay absolutely can be upgraded as it's not broken

      @@potatoheadpokemario1931 No, it really doesn't. And obviously the medbay can be upgraded. Maybe take a look around my channel before trying to explain basic game mechanics to me.

      @@mikehopley wait, so upgrading a broken system just adds an extra broken bar to it? Does this mean upgrading after a fight while the system is still broken, THEN repairing that system would net me extra repair experience for a crew member, while saving me on hull damage?

    • @mikehopley
      @mikehopley  6 месяцев назад +5

      @@defbysunrise yes, upgrading a broken system gives you extra repair XP.

    Would Emergency Respirators and Mantis Pheromones make it possible to fix the O2 and get back to the Medbay?
    P.S. I hope you are doing fine and your computer is fixed.

      My guess would be yes, but I haven't tested it. In principle you could calculate it out.

    Hey, I've been enjoying your vanilla FTL videos. They have been very helpful for advanced tactics. But I wonder about one thing; you don't have (almost) any modded FTL videos on your channel. Have you considered uploading some more of those? I would love to see your take on the Multiverse mod, for example. Especially now that the mod has gone through many balance changes and should suit your hardcore precision playstyle more.

      @mikehopley  7 месяцев назад +1

      Glad you enjoyed the videos! I don't have any intention to play Multiverse currently.
