Cool list! I have many of these already, picked up Mosa Lina, wishlisted a couple others. Tiny Rogues was my number one for 2023 until I picked up Cube Chaos!

I am also curious why Terra Cards is not on this list, what negatives do you have about the game that kind of threw you off?
Terra Cards has no reason to be on a top 10 games list of 2023 lol. It’s not that it’s a bad game but every single one of these absolutely blows it out of the water. It’s a buggy mess that half the time doesn’t work and has about 3 hours of content

Didn't expect a Viticulture reference on this channel! It would be cool if you played some table top sim as your podcast/hangout instead of fortnite every once and a while. Loved the top 10 list!

I am genuinely surprised that Tiny Rogues did not make the list. It's one of my favorites. But I do agree with your top 10.

I really like this list! My personal favorite game of 2023 was Super Mario Bros. Wonder, but if I had to pick an indie game I would definitely pick Pizza Tower! I highly recommend that game! It's so addicting to run through the levels at blazing speeds and listening to that jamming soundtrack that has been stuck in my head for months now lol
Been wanting to check out pizza tower. Couldn’t bring myself to buy Wonder at this time but I love me a new Mario game so I might this year

He played it back in 2022, so that is why. It would likely be one of the top 3 if he just played it for the first time this year

Hey man if you haven't played it, check out Rise to Ruins. It's really great but difficult. You assign villagers to jobs and build a town and protect it but you also have God powers similar to Black and White.
That is so unique to attack enemies in tower defence that we see it about 10 years ago in Orcs must die!. And in three (or even four) sequels. And in... Dungeon defenders or Dungeon mages. Something like that.
Started of this year buying a bunch of games, so far I have only touched brutal company and had no time for any of the others 😅
the top 5 all are legit 10/10 games. what a year for rogue likes-personally id throw against the storm in there as well!

not the biggest dotage fan, just not the game for me, but ive seen some of the videos and i gotta say even i wouldve put it pretty high on my own list if i was rating off of quality, these games were sooo good

For a game like DotAge, being the only flaw to have 15 hour runs seems like pretty awesome.
I love to be able to expand and grow as much as I can on games like this!
The only thing I wish it had was a quick mode and an endless mode so people can have the inbetweens but it’s still awesome

A genuinely amazing game
Brutal Orchestra is so cool beacuse it is a punk rock exploration of nihilism and absurdism. Like... that is the whole of it's story. If you said that is a good plot for a game... I would think you are just trying to sell me drugs. But no it is a good plot for a game.
I'm confused about number 2. Brutal Orchestra came out two years ago, not last year.

Honestly surprised you mentioned Cobalt Core but not Wildfrost or Astrea
Wildfrost was extremely close to an honorable mention but it had some huge difficulty flaws on release when I played it.
Astrea, honestly, I really didn’t like. It was WAY too complicated and they did nothing to help the player, and that was by design. The difficulty curve was supposed to be that you were just confused the whole time

Calling balatro a roguelike is insane. Fun game for sure tho
I mean in the modern definition it is. Quite literally advertised as a poker roguelike on steam.

If there is more to the game I haven’t seen, they should have made that more available earlier. Runs got pretty samey quick and I have around 15 hours in it at this point
There's going to be a bunch more stuff added in updates - the last patch (just before christmas) added a new event, and there's even more events and bosses getting tested on the experimental branch.
It's not *great* that the game released without them (since as you said, it does get kinda samey) but after a few more content updates the game should feel really fresh
Just stumbled on this channel and was kind of surprised the video started by shitting on many people's favorite game of the year. Good list though, nice production values. You just are a little incorrect about Dave.
Eh to each their own. I played through the entire game on my channel. It was great for about 1/2 of it. You could tell they went for quantity over quality and it showed. The sea people fetch quests that added nothing but time wasted to the game were brutal

The big update was this year that made it a top tier game. When it released in 2022 it was just a good game :)
