Where was Amy's compassion for Janis Gill, Vince's wife? I love Janis' song 'I know who you are' about Amy. Janis is the one who has showed such grace and strength over the years.
With Amy and Vince it was love at first sight in 1993. Both Whenever You Come Around by Vince (written after the first time he ever saw her) and House of Love by Amy (both recoded in 1994) yet staying faithful and married for at least 4+ more years, speaks well of their character, and desire to do the right thing. Neither of them ever defend themselves or say anything negative about their exes. Having watched Chapman on many occasions, that woman truly is an angel with grace surpassing most humans I know. Vince had loved her well and they have been blessed with a rare relationship most can only dream of. Lucky them.
Amy fell for Vince big time, even gave him a big hug during recording...then went to Gary & told him that she no longer loved him & that she'd given her heart to another man....That marrying him was the worst mistake of her life. He went to family, both sides, counseled & everyone encouraged him to hold on & not give her a divorce....they lived in their home separate as she chased after Vince & at the end of 1997 she grabbed the kids & left. As far as I know she's never repented, has become more & more worldly....though a very gracious person to interviewers & fans....I'd like to see her truly love God first, then she can see clearly to point LGBQ....people to the love of Christ for them & that turning from our sin is the response we need❤❤❤
Last week I was in a room of men who were deeply hurt by the church. My desire is what Amy said, I wish for them and myself to continue to explore the compainionship of Jesus which fortunately does not always on depend on fallable human beings!
I agree. I grew up in the church. I moved away from my faith in my 30’s because of all of the hypocrites in church. I finally realized the problem was me. I was putting my faith in other human beings instead of God where it belonged. Once I reestablished my relationship with Him alone, everything in my heart changed.
It was until he wore down that love with his drug use and jealousy of her success. Go read Gary Chapman’s interview in Texas Monthly Aug 1997. In his own words he admits he had an addiction to cocaine and was very jealous of Amy’s career.
I grew up in Christ with Amy Grant & her music.. she is a part of my story even though I’ve never personally met her, her influence on me in the deepest way will ring throughout eternity..I’m truly grateful for her journey as it has impacted me hugely.. there is a book entitled “ how my faith survived the Church “ can’t remember exact title with that maybe Survivor by Phillip Yancy.. it caused a turning point in my journey, the author challenges the reader to inventory their life and select the people who have impacted your life greatly either by in person or what they have written or by their lives etc thus the book is 13 chapters of thirteen people whose lives impacted the author greatly.. for me it was a turning point book.. Amy GrNt would surely be a Chapter in my book if I were to choose these people in my life.. for me this is a treasure ... seeing this interview again gives me encouragement on my journey to hear her perspective from here.. I am 59 years old .. my journey has rocky places .. turns and twist that have caused me to dig deep down inside to struggle with big issues each time I see more clearly, as I heard her speak here, I felt a sisterhood of perspective with a grateful heart I am a fan of hers that holds her in deep respect , so glad I found this little clip.. Brennan Manning and Rich Mullins would also reserve a Chapter in my Book .. peace

In case your preacher does not tell you the truth here is a scripture to contemplate. ...In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety.. To be a follower of Jesus Christ means for a woman to not wear low-necks. Dress with modesty and shamefacedness (that means in a timid and shy manner) not bold.
This direction (1 Timothy 2:9) to Christian women was not intended to apply to their ordinary dress in the world, but simply explained to the sisters of the Ephesian flock that their place in public worship was one of quiet attention-that their reverence and adoration must be shown not by thrusting themselves forward with a view to public teaching or public praying, but by being present and taking part silently-avoiding especially in these services anything like a conspicuous dress or showy ornaments-anything, in fact, which would be likely to arouse attention, or distract the thoughts of others.

As a woman I too think it sad the way many Christian women dress. I remember being in a church where there was a group of young Arab men in the front row. Two pretty young girls were at the front singing as part of the worship group. They were wearing short dresses. Every time they lifted their arms up their hemlines went even higher.. I looked over to these young men and noticed that all of them had turned their eyes down to the floor. I so respected them and wanted to apologise for the way these young ladies had dressed. I didn't When I was a young woman I was in to all the latest fashions and they were none too modest. When I became a born again Christian my wardrobe got converted as well. Nobody said I should change I just didn't WANT to dress as I had previously. I found I had a new respect for my own body and a new respect for others. I grew up with older brothers and often a house full of young men. It made me aware of how the way women dress can affect men ( young and not so young) How angry people get when you dare to appeal for keeping closer to Biblical teaching. Parts of the church today are desperate to be cool and sexy. And look what has happened to some of them and the bad name some of the hipster churches have given Christianity . Let's not be ashamed of what the Bible teaches and respect ourselves and others. And let's not bite each other when we disagree.
This sounds like the Pharisees and Sadducees that questioned why Jesus was hanging out with “sinners” tax collectors, prostitutes etc. If you asked Jesus who he would rather have filling the pews-“properly clothed” self righteous ones who can quote the literal word of the Bible but totally miss the message of the Good News or ones who are “improperly dressed” but yearning to hear the message, it’s pretty clear what He would say. Can you honestly tell me as a Christian (Christ follower) that you would deny people access to His church because of their clothing? Follow Jesus example instead and welcome all who are yearning to know Him.
You just can't find someone sweeter and more faith-filled than Amy Grant. She is a great testimony to God's love, compassion, and grace.
