I have spent a lifetime listening to Amy Grant's beautiful voice entertain and inspire. But what is not often given due credit is the source of so many of the lyrics and melodies wonderfully crafted for her to share with the world, and that source being Gary. The tenderness, honesty, and faithfulness that is found in his artistry is so simple and innocent yet remarkably profound in spirit that it has often brought me to tears. Over the course of many years I have found few songs as moving and deeply vulnerable as his song "All I Ever Have To Be". Spending time immersed in that song is a constant blessing to me. And too I could never imagine a single Christmas season without his musical jewel "Tennessee Christmas" decorating our home so lavishly with heartfelt song. There are so many others to mention like "Finally" or "I Will Remember You" or "All I needed To Say" or "One Of Two" that one can only hope it is acknowledgement enough on our part as listeners to say "Thank you so much Gary for gifting us the fruits of your amazing talent", and to thank the Lord for gifting us you. I may be a die-hard Amy fan but I am awed by the overflowing wellspring of creative people who have given her the wings to fly.
It’s wonderful to hear Gary’s testimony. Every so often we need to wake up to the reality of God’s grace and the reality of heaven and life after death. His music still connects and takes me back to a time in those early days as a believer in Jesus. As a musician, Gary’s song writing has a signature style that is identifiable in his music. It is comforting.
Thank you, Gary, for opening your heart. Your experience about forgiveness is encouraging for all of us. I love your tender honesty and have a new respect for you.
What a wonderful interview ! My daughter was a big fan of Amy Grant growing up, she went to heaven in 2014 at age 47 died of cancer I played Amy grant music during her memorial service I never really knew what happened to Gary and Amy but I still love them both hearing Gary tell his forgiveness story was incredible, what a godly man Gary is I am so happy you found a wonderful wife and is being a great dad to his new daughter what a great story thank you for this interview
Glad I found this even if it's not current. Gary, Cass and Eva Rose are amazing. Gary's music ministry has made my life more fulfilling since the late 70s. Bless you for making this available to me in NC and across the world. 🥰
Gary, thank you for your honesty! Obedience to the Lord is very important. Forgiveness is difficult but we must do it as a true follower of Jesus. Blessings also get poured out on us as we mature in Him. 😇
Gary, Jesus did it through you! Thank you for obeying God’s voice and for sharing your deep heart. What a testimony for God’s glory and to encourage others. God bless you very richly.
I know maybe a few will read this comment but... maybe Gary comes here and get my words.... I was in college on the early 80 and I followed Amy and Gary.... we all know how painful it was for them for years.... to hear this testimony of mutual forgiveness is a blessing. I am very glad about it. I always thought Gary was the spiritual part of that couple and I think he should go on and do his best to get Amy and Vince back from the place they have been.... I feel they are pretty far from the Almighty.... bur Gary can really help them find the Way.
Were you aware that for 4 years of their marriage, Gary routinely took cocaine and smoked marijuana? Amy grew tired of it, and finally threatened to leave and divorce or get counseling, so he agreed, and that is what saved the marriage at THAT point. So in my viewpoint, he broke his marriage vow EVERYTIME he used illegal drugs. PERIOD! I recommend extending your research to find more truth. Jesus said, you will know my disciples, by the fruit that they bear - disobedience is a fruit of the devil's children. Gal. 5:19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity, and debauchery; 20idolatry and sorcery; hatred, discord, jealousy, and rage; rivalries, divisions, factions, 21and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. When a person 'loves their illegal drugs more than God, that is THEIR IDOL.
That's actually seriously controlling that Amy asked him for a divorce and he not only says no but forces her to remain unhappily married for a further 5 years. No wonder she looked so miserable and he so hard and indifferent to her in that time. He always came across as controlling, not really love is it? I think he should have kept the story about telling Vince he forgave him to himself. It loses its genuineness when he has to pat himself on the back for it. Real forgiveness does not seek the applause of others. It's a private matter that he should have kept that way.
For the millions of people who were wounded and disillusioned by our divorce, I clearly disagree with you. Many, many have reached out and said so. That number is enormous and their thanks for hearing the truth is infinitely stronger than your criticism. All God’s best to you.
So, I just saw this, Caleb. Refresh my memory, please. I don’t remember meeting you or ever spending any time with you yet you seem to be ready to judge me pretty harshly nonetheless. Still, I will not return fire. I love you and hope nothing but God’s best for you. If you’re ever in Franklin, look me up and let’s bridge the gap between your judgment and God’s reality in my life. All His best. Gary

Amy Grant went down as an lgbtq satanic alphabet supporter like alot of pseudo Christians have. Refuse to listen to anyone who supports the lgbtq.
Sweet Glow of Mercy. One of the best songs ever. Thank you Gary.
absolutely one of my favorite songs! I have all of Gary's music!

This is a beautiful interview. You're never more like Jesus Christ than when you choose to forgive.

Gary forgiving is amazing. Quality guy. Not sure I could have done that.
Wonderful testimony about his dad!
Absolutely beautiful. thank you for this interview. Both of you :)
Awesome to hear your story Gary
Fabulous! Thank you so much for doing this, as I was both encouraged and lifted up by this interview.
Loved this, the conversation and songs. Would love to see Gary again in OC
Wow never knew this
Gary just listen to God and obey his commands and you will have the sky
Always 2 sides to every story.
I wonder how Gary feels about Michael w Smith now

Not sure Vince was ever close to the Almighty or had interest in that direction.
@@mpmattson interesting. The Most High knows everything and He shall judge. It’s time already to be in a good relationship with God.
😂
@@susannichols1102 can you explain your reaction?

Better to remain unhappily married than to go against what God wants in a marriage and that is to stay together...
This is laughable. The man who was arrested driving drunk with drugs in the car on his third wife wants to play the victim. It's. Not. A. Good. Look.
Agree

Some things didn't need to be said. I've never heard Amy talk in such a way during an interview. Shameful, really.
agree
Who do you need to forgive, Michael? The truth has immeasurable value even when it offends you.
The truth had to be said Amy said it all when she divorced him...
Gary ever the narcissist
William, ever the judge of people he’s never met or spent any time with. I pray you and God get that worked out before you see His face.
Really?????????
