Staggering how good they were. This is 1994 Earl's Court in London, England. They used to run three fleets of trucks. One for the venue they were playing, one they just played, and one for the next stadium. In addition, the sound went all the way around the venue. So there were speakers everywhere. And at various times there were different sections bathed in light, inflatable giant pigs, and airplanes crashing and exploding. There was no substitute for a live Floyd show back in their heyday.

I have seen Pink Floyd Live 4 times… I saw this same show Syracuse Carrier Dome in N.Y. 1994. The concert brochure said the stage is 120 feet wide. It takes a crew of 60 technicians three days to set up the entire lights and all. The concert schedule required that there had to be three entire crews to keep up. They leap froged each other for 92 shows with 20 Trucks per crew and a total staff of 195. The tour cost the promoters $98.MILLION to put on, but the total profit was $260 MILLION. Nick Mason’s drumming is incredible and matches Gilmour’s guitar emotions while Richard Wright takes us on a Magic Carpet Ride of tones that form the foundation of it all. When the “Disco Ball’ was uncovered and the lights hit it….. WHAT IS HAPPENING was what I said….The entire crowd was held in a trace and our minds totally blown by what we witnessed.

These two hosts of this video crack me up they're always trying to connect the garbage they like with greatness and it can't happen no matter how much they try.

Robotic redundant repetitive beats coming from sequencers, scratching albums with a stylus on a turntable and pressing buttons on a drum machine is like listening to a clock tick because repetition is an excellent form of mind control that will dumb you down and give you a very short attention span, that's a proven fact and is the reason why the government who is supposed censor what we see and hear puts it on the mainstream media airwaves to control the mass population so the very few ruling class who have all the money can continue to control the narrative in the mainstream media that they own and control. Among many other topics they use to control and seperate everyone like religious intolerance, race hatred, sexual orientation, social status, jobs, income, education, national and ethnic backgrounds and they use fear to control us too.
And they love to use the illusion of choice in the political arena through the Democrats and Republicans to separate the poor and middle class to keep us fighting with each other so the very few ruling class who have all the money can keep going to the bank. It's called control divide and conquer by keeping the sheeple in fear, dumb, fed and entertained.🐑🐑🐑😂🤣

Back in O.C. Calif when I was 30 my wife heard a commercial on the radio about a P.F. show coming up. Knowing I am a Floyd fan she called the radio station (KMET - LA, “The Mighty Met”) to get information on the concert, The DJ on live radio Cynthia Fox…. said...."Congratulations, YOU are caller number 10, YOU just won tickets to the show and the Sound Check Party before the show"...
I met David Gilmour back stage. He gave us both a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I told him his music will stand the test of time with anything from Beethoven or Mozart. He smiled even bigger. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. Hard to explain how awesome that moment was in my life. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know. . I told him in my eyes he’s a “Legend“. He thanked me and said “Enjoy the show”…. during the concert after the song “Money” he looked right at me and said…. “On saxophone, another Legend, Mr. Raphael Ravenscroft” … acknowledging my comment to him. It is my favorite moment in over 300 shows I’ve seen.
I asked David…. How do you create those awesome solos?… he said….. I sit on a stool and listen to what Roger, Nick and Rick put down and play along. I listen to what I played and pick out what I like, then I put the pieces together into one piece then learn to play it as one. Our fans are fanatics for our shows to sound like the albums so I must play it correctly each time in a show. I have the concert Brochure and album on the wall with David’s picture centerfold.
All of us fortunate enough to have seen this show live were in a TRANCE.... MESMERIZED the entire show... as you can imagine. We walked out saying.... What did we just witness? That was out of this world incredible. The Red Fender Stratocaster he used for this concert in the Guitar Collector World is ....PRICELESS

Talk about a coincidence. I had a similar thing happen in 1980. I won 3rd row tickets to The Wall on Feb 10th at the LA Sports Arena. Except, I won mine on KLOS (still have the rainbow bumper sticker with "Pink Floyd" in the middle). I can remember just about every minute of it to this day. Back then, when you got backstage it was always after the show. Problem was, after playing two hours no one wanted to be bothered. Plus, they were a mess internally. We got to talk to Gilmour and Mason for about five minutes. Waters was supposed to stay but disappeared immediately after the show. Wright was contractually forbidden from meeting with anyone because he wasn't technically a member of the band, he was a contracted session player. Its funny you mention Cynthia Fox. She was the MC for The Wall shows. When she came out after the intermission she was hammered. She could barely walk. Someone threw a beach ball that bounced off a monitor and hit her in the head. You want to see mesmerized. The Wall was that and then some. Its not like now, where people basically know what The Wall was. Back then, we had no clue what was going on. All we knew is that, somehow, there were two Pink Floyds on stage and for half the show the roadies were taking down a wall and rebuilding it in front of them. For the other half of the show, we couldn't see anyone except through little holes here and there. This song was the first time you really saw anyone after the break. I saw Gilmour play this song on an even more iconic guitar. The original. The Black Strat :). I get sick every time I see Jim Irsay play it.

As for the production: nobody has pulled off anything comparable ever since, the Pulse Tour has been unmatched. They had three complete stage sets (one was taken apart from the previous concert, while they were playing the concert on the second and the third was being assembled fro the next concert. The lights at the bottom of the center stage were airport runway lights, because nothing else was powerful enough. And this was the first show in history, we’re the Lightshow was synchronized with the music by computers. This was so ahead of it’s time back then, that something like this has not been recreated ever since. This whole concert was epic and has set a benchmark for decades to come and has thus reserved its place in music history. And the 6 min second solo of Comfortably Numb is allegedly the best guitar solo ever played on this planet!

That's Pink Floyd own stage, they owned all of it, the stage, the rigs, the lights, the audio, the giant disco ball that opened up, the production, everything you see and hear, they owned!!
And they owned 3 of those,... three of those stages, rigs, lights, audio, disco ball!
    All of it, Three!
Pink Floyd had these 3 identical stages and rigs built,... including the huge quadrophonic speaker systems, for the North American Tour,... The stages and equipment leapfrogged from venue to venue, all across North American continent in 1994.
They needed three stages and rigs because of the time it took to "load in" (set up), and "load out" (teardown), the stage, the rigs, all the equipment, everything!
It took 3 full days to setup, (load in),... and two and a half days to tear it all down, (load out)! So they absolutely had to have more than one stage to do all the tour dates.
The 1994 Pulse Concert/Division Bell World Tour was the largest world tour at the time. Approximately 700 tons of steel, 53 trailer trucks to transport the equipment, 161 crew members. Each stage was 180 feet long, and 130 feet high, resembling the Hollywood Bowl, the running costs alone just to stage this tour was $29 million!
The Division Bell Tour played to almost 6 million people in 68 cities, averaging 45,000 people per each event. The tour grossed $250 million worldwide.
As massive as this tour was, The Wall Tour was even more complex and much more challenging. So much so that they had to limit the number of performances, the Division Bell Tour had 58 dates in the U.S., The Wall Tour had only 12 dates in the U.S. in 1980.

That lighting production was from 1994. It was recorded at Earls Court in London. The lighting fixtures that they used are called Vari Lights, the sound system was Turbosounf Flashlight and Floodlight series speakers. The touring production of this had two full set ups that were leapfrog around the world, and it took a crew of 200 people working around the clock for two weeks straight to set up each production. The stadiums that they were playing did not have enough power to run their own light show so they had to bring their own generator trucks with them to run the shows. The production cost for the 92 shows they held in The Pulse Tour was $98 million dollars. But they made close to $300 million in profit from the tour.
This show was held at Earls Court in London in 1994, I was there.
And when I returned to Australia, I saw the Pulse concert again in Melbourne.
Now, apparently in every show, David Gilmore the guitarist played a slightly different rendition of the solo in comfortably numb in every show. That was true because in Melbourne he played a slightly different version of the solo. The Earl’s Court version was the best out of the 2 I saw in 2 different shows.

The concert takes place in 1994 and would end up being Pink Floyd'ps last World tour. Though David Gilmour lead singer and guitarist, has toured several times since then as a solo artist performing many of Pink Floyd classics with his own more than capable band. He last toured in 2016 at age 70. Btw, totally get what you're saying about comparisons to Parliament Funkadelic. I saw their shows live back in the 70s when the spaceship landed and the comparison is legit... as it is with some of their extended instrumentals as well. Though they had nothing near the light show Pink Floyd are known for. Check out "Echoes" by Floyd to get a good taste of some of that early 70s funk. But don't get comfortable, it doesn't end up there. 😏

This was at Earls Court, London. The band was formed in 1964/65. Their early stuff, with Syd Barrett, is very experimental sounding. David Gilmour, who joined the band in '68, (singer/guitarist) is very emotive in his playing as you can hear. This Pulse show (at Earls Court in London, 1994) was actually the last show Pink Floyd played together. Other suggestions: "Money" live at Pulse I think you would enjoy. Also "Echoes" live at Pompeii, 1972 shows them in the early days. It's a wonderful show, no audience at a Roman amphitheater in Pompeii, Italy, a city that was destroyed by a volcano in 79 A.D.

The stage/equipment for this tour was so massive and took so long to set up and take down that they actually had 3 complete stage setups that would leapfrog around the world… play a show on stage A while stage B is already being set up in the next city and stage C is on the way to the city after that… 700 tons of steel, 2 million dollars to buy, and 25 million to set up, operate, and ship around the world. 😮

"Three stages leap-frogged around North America and Europe, each 180 feet (55 m) long and featuring a 130-foot (40 m) arch resembling the Hollywood Bowl venue. All in all, the tour required 700 tons of steel carried by 53 articulated trucks, a crew of 161 people and an initial investment of US$4 million plus US$25 million of running costs just to stage."
"This tour played to 5.5 million people in 68 cities; each concert gathered an average 45,000 audience. At the end of the year, the Division Bell Tour was announced as the biggest tour ever, with worldwide gross of over £150 million (about US$250 million)."

Their music is just as amazing and relevant today as it was back in the early seventies. Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Rush were at the top of my list of being my most favorite bands of that era.
