  • Testing wynn's diesel turbo cleaner on my 2007 LBZ Duramax. Test was completed on 3/10/2024. put contents in tank roughly 12 gallons of fuel and proceeded to drive around 180 miles. will update in the future to see if it worked or if I'm buying a new turbo.
Update April 2024 vanes still sticking, reoccurring check engine light. Ended up replacing turbo with a stainless diesel drop in replacement.

I have an LBZ I just bought off the company I work for. I just used hotshot for the past 2 months or so every fill up just a 2oz shot. At first the check engine light would come up every now and again on some mornings, then it would go away. I did some long 1 hour drives, got it hot and stomped on it a few times. Truck started running much better after the first month or so of filling up multiple times. I’m down to probably the last 1/3 of the bottle and haven’t had any issues since. Idk it took a while for mine but I was about to replace the turbo and clean the EGR until a friend of mine who has an LLY told me to pick up a bottle of that. Wasn’t expecting it to clean the turbo at all but I guess it did, over time.

Started the truck this morning and was greeted with the same check engine light, P2563, I’ll use the rest of that 1/4 tank I have but I’m not super optimistic.

I see the part on xdp and other places. How do you get the cigarette lighter as the switch ?

Not entirely familiar with duramax or their turbos. If it was a cummins would be pretty straight forward... Yours appears to have a solenoid using oil pressure to move the vanes? The only real way to see if the vanes were binding would be to tear yours apart since there is no external actuator to feel by hand. When vanes bind up or the actuator is the issue you will have intermittent boost lag where sometimes the turbo will spool up quick and provide quick boost, and other times where it simply will not respond and take its sweet ass time. You would have to be watching your boost gauge and try and roll into is several times creating peak boost to determine that. Code sets when vane position vs vane desired is more then 15% different for 5 seconds. Unless you have high resistance in the position sensor wires somewhere... its probably the turbo at this point. The only way to really clean the vanes is to pull the turbo off and tear it apart... anything that comes in a bottle is a scam...
Oh if your oil feed is restricted then that too... but shouldnt be restricted if your engine isnt full of sludge :P
