Hahahaha. Your videos are great. Love the joke about having a beer. Your recipes are thorough, informative and entertaining. Would really enjoy seeing more recipes.
Nice food and nicer people. Thank for sharing.
My mom makes them little differently, just blend raw peeled potatoes with onions, add a bit of flour, salt and pepper and then fry it on a pan. Makes it easier and just as tasty.
yep, or you can grate it very finely on grater. It's a pain in the ass to do it for many placki's but they taste smooth. Then you can make some mushroom sauce from champignons and boom - it's like my mother's placki ziemniaczane
Daniel Uchanski My Mom also added eggs
The same way my Polish Grandmother, Mother and I make them. We all grate raw potatoes.
Yep, dad made them..raw grated potatoes. A little grated onion. No egg.
I don't remember the exact recipe, although I have it written down somewhere, but I do know it used raw, grated potatoes. We used a food processor. You could hand grate, but if you don't have a food processor or blender, cooking the potatoes first might be a better option.
I’ve been on RUclips for so long how have I missed this guy
I love potato pancakes and had not had any for years. We moved south. We went to a Perkins restaurant and I saw "potato pancakes" a new item on the menu. I thought I would try those. The waitress brought those to the table and I took a bite. I told her those taste like hash browns. Her reply was "they are, we just mix them together and fry them." I was very disappointed and did not finish eating. My polish grandmother made wonderful potato pancakes. I should have known better, when we first moved south I ordered spaghetti for the kids; they received noodles with tomato soup for sauce. I ordered a hot dog and they brought it to me blackened and fried on a bun. I sure miss the good food choices we had in Chicago. I am going to use your recipe for stuffed cabbage, thank you for posting this video.
This is so true! I moved from MA to the south and had no clue what half the food here was. When I would visit my grandparents I begged my grandmother for food lol
ppl need to stop going to perkins, blah bland food
@@nik_5992 a staple during the depression. I'm that old!
I just found your channel!! My grandma was from Poland and as a kid in the late 50's & 60's in Buffalo NY, I watched her making potato pancakes, Cabbage Rolls - Gołąbki, polish sausage and pirogi's. She never used parsley and I suppose that's the same as:
Q: What's the best spaghetti sauce?
A: The one Mama used to make!
I'm looking forward to exploring your channel as I want to make the same polish sausage she made that I grew up with. I remember her saying, pork butt, garlic, salt, pepper and all spice...I think its all spice, I'm not so sure now, its been such a long time... :)
mind the best
My grandmother made the absolute best polish sausage from scratch, she would grind the meat by hand, add all her spices and what amazed me she would always taste the raw meat for flavor, she would work with 70 and 80 pounds of meat at a time, as a child I would turn the grinder attached to the table and also blow the casings for holes, my lips would get raw from all the salt, but that first ring of sausage that came out of the pressure cooker??? Pure heaven. Have never had the same since she's gone but beautiful memories
Marvelous. Must do, too nice not to.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😊😊😊
I can’t believe I just found you. Your recipes are wonderful and the instructions are clear and concise. I lost my Polish mom who used to make all these 40 years ago. It’s nice to watch somebody else remind me how to cook these. I found you with the pierogies I like your way better than mine. Thank you.
You are so welcome!
I was so happy to find the Polish chef, but sad to see he hasn't posted any videos in a year. After reading some of the comments I can see why. Accusations of not being a Polish recipe or being Polish Himself is plain horrible! There is not only one way of making a dish, if there was life would be very bland. I don't care where you are from if you're proud of being Polish and of Poland then your a Pole in my eyes. Thank you very much Polish chef!
Stow lat!
They're so cute together! All the recipes on this channel look so good, I can't wait to try them!
Had a Polish roommate and she used to put frozen corn in some of her potato pancakes! It was delicious.
Came out great- thank you both very much for this delicious recipe!
Love this video. I've been looking for this recipe and the instructions for a long time! I can hardly wait to make this.
Love the easy banter between the two of you! You make cooking fun....
One of my favorite foods. Nice demonstration.
Susan, you are a WONDERFUL cook! I so love your videos.
Thank you. I love the parsley and green onions as well as the tip about adding oil when cooking.
So glad u found both of your channels! This is like my late mother’s potato pancakes. It was one of the few things she actually could cook! I never got the recipe and am so happy to have found yours! Cheers!
Love this recipe. Much better than the one I was used to making. More videos please!!
Watching your videos makes me proud to be Polish. Great videos
That's great!
We Jews call them latkes! We fry them in olive oil for Hanukkah. Sometimes we put steamed salmon on them with the sour cream. Definitely trying this recipe!
That sounds yummy!

So glad I rediscovered this channel. Great recipes and wonderful salt of the earth people. My kind of food; my kind of folks.
Excellent! Reminds me of my ma and I cooking in our own restaurant. You're making me hungry...when the misses flipped the first potato pancake I could actually smell the potato and green onion...Nice job!
Good video. My mother used to make them when I was growing up and I loved them. We always had them plain with a side of ‘buttermilk’ but the buttermilk was served in a bowl as a cold soup with salt and pepper. I loved it and I need to make them soon. It was such a good combination that I don’t think I could ever change. True Polish guy with the beer, haha. Thanks for sharing.
Yes to buttermilk ..
@@ThePolishChef What about plum powidl?
Mashed potatoes and buttermilk = Polish ice cream
Awesome recipe guys! Thanks for sharing
I have had these before and they are so good to eat anytime of the day and yes a good beer is a must =)
Those looked so yummy, i'll be trying this recipe soon for sure!
Thank you, Susan and Dariusz!
Hi Chef, welcome back! My babcia would make potato pancakes with leftover mashed potatoes. She always repurposed all her food. Watching you and Susan brings back good memories of being a kid and watching her cook with my great aunts. Thank you ❤
WOW!!! Much different than so many places trying to make these. They grind them up into a batter and it just breaks my soul. These look wonderful. I need to make them today.
Ok, subbed at the very first lesson... "Russet, otherwise known as baking potatoes." Boom, with that simple phrase, you've saved every person from every country the hassle of finding an equivalent. Now that's a teacher.
thanks polish chef...ill be cooking these on saturday for breakfast...yumy!!
I love potato pancakes. So good! Those look great.
They look great. Thank you
I really like your videos. I hope to see more. Thanks so much!
So many ways to prep placki 😎
This is a good one
Thank you for this recipe .💕🌹
My pleasure 😊
More videos please :) I already have the perfect pizza dough recipe from Susan's Cooking School. I've made pierogi from memory. My grandmother was from Poland and I lived with her from age 11-18. She never let me help her make anything so I had to watch and I did. I will go and watch the cabbage rolls now to jog that memory and last but not least....I love potato pancakes and I can't wait to make these this weekend.Thank you
looks so good.
Latkes ... but we makes them with grated raw potato, egg, onions. Yum.
PS You keep the grated potatoes in water till ready to use. Squeeze the water out of the potatoes VERY well. Discard the water but keep the starch that settles to the bottom. Add that back into the potatoes, onion and egg mixture.
You're telling a chef...and his wife....how to cook...
😋 YUM ! 🙏 you guys are brilliant !
These look delicious!
Definately making these also Thank you for your kindness God bless
So cute! Thanks for the videos
I grew up in Poland and this is one of my favourite foods. What about placki po wegiersku ? Just amazing…
I made these tonight and they were fantastic!
hahhahahha let the man drink his Piwo! I love Fat tire too! Greetings from this Mexican living in Wrocław.
I’ve watched a lot of your videos and it makes me miss my moms cooking. Bless y’all and hope you’re doing well 🙏🏻❤️
My ancestors were Polish, and they came to the US in 1893. Thanks for the video! I’ll try the recipe.
no beer yet Polish chef: after you finished work!
Thank you for the secret recipe, they look delicious.
Mmmmm LATKES!!! My mom made them kind of the same way… no matter which way you slice it… they are darn good. Comfort food. Mazel Tov 🙌🏼
My grandma used to make them without the greens, we would put either applesauce, sour cream, or brown sugar on them ❤️ But I will definitely try these, they look amazing!
This is pretty much how my mom used to make them, my mouth is watering right now.
Oh, thats how we can make latkes!!! Great videos! Im starving!
You should sell those Polish Chef Aprons! I'd buy one!
My dad used to make them using a blender recipe, and I've been spoiled for that type since childhood. But there are so many ways to make potato pancakes!
You are right.
👍👍👍Thanks for sharing this vid. Definitely try this awesome Potato Pancakes.🍹😍
I would have loved to dine at your restaurant. This food is so simple but so wholesome, who could resist?
Very Nice Video. Thank You !
got to try these
Wow , amazing food
These potato pancakes look delicious! I love anything with potatoes! I'll definitely have to try these! 👩🏻🍳✨
+YumDelectable You'll love them!
Can't wait to make these, thank you 😊
I've made them grated potatoes, onion, egg S&P ,a little flour. I never squeeze the liquid out .They come out crispy that way.
Tfs, i look forward to more recipes. 🌹
If I could give 2 thumbs up, I would!
Great step by step instructions. Stolat!🍻
I made some of these for my local church. Everyone loved them. I make them the way my mom used to with grated raw potatoes and ordinary onion. My father was Polish so he passed the recipe on to her. Mom was English. I love these pancakes cold too: in fact they taste better cold.Great with a mixture of grated cheese and grated carrot. Loved the video though!
I love potato pancakes either with sour cream or applesauce. I can eat them every day.
This is a nice way to make. I have always used cheese clothe to seperate starch from raw russet. Drain the starch water, use settled starch back in with shredded potatoes then add egg and spices. I love the green onion, parsley. Use sour cream and apple sauce dollops. So delicious.
My boyfriend is Polish and he've been craving potato pancakes. We can't wait to try your recipe!
Sounds great!
Great video
You ate the evidence! lol, can't help but think of that movie when I see this, and another of my favorites that mum made, and we didn't pay attention to what she did..because we thought she would always be here to make them for us. She would also leave some of the crispy bits in the pan, then make a nice omelet that they formed themselves into..then we would all try for the part of it that had the most! But I can't get enough of pancakes, and thank you very much for sharing the making of them with us ;)
'Not yet' Susan said : ) cant wait to make this.
Simple quick and tasty. My version is just a tad different, but is quite good.I use left over mash and use your same ingredients and they come out amazing
Best latke recipe ever
Very nice!
You two are Awesome ...Blessings to you and the very tasteful looking food you two create...And i am positive it is most Yummy..If only we were Neighbors ..lol
i whistle the polish chef theme song in my head when cooking
“Not yet” lmbo they’re too cute! I hope you’re healthy and fine polish chef and Susan. Love you AA friend in Texas.
so funny story, last night i decided to make polish food and made perogi and potato pancakes and this morning this channel was on my recommended, glad to see i did it right although i used cheddar in my perogi
Glad for you.
Thanks!
Growing up we'd eat potato pancakes with applesauce.
Wayne S you can put applesauce with anything
Yes. We were Polish & only ate them with applesauce. My husband is a Polish Jew & he eats them with sour cream. My daughter always thought they were like hash browns (we like them crispy around the edges) so she ate them with ketchup. I even luv them plain. Every year we go to the Polish Festival & eat like pigs. But don't worry, we dance it off. It's a three day party, much like a Polish wedding.
Alright, Susan! A woman after my own heart. I've probably made a million pancakes & I have the hips to prove it. And the stomach. And the butt. Okay, I look like a stereotypical Polish woman complete with moustache. There! Are you happy now? I am because I'm eating latkes.
Gotta love The Polish
Love you guys. I make pierogie ruskie with raw potatoes on the grater.
They look yummy
Love it. I sure hope he finally gets that beer. Lol :)
Love this! Xo
"now we are going to make our potato pancakes, first I'm going to have a beer" you sound just like my papa. Haha
I'm cooking them right now! I love the beer jokes 🤣
Exactly like my babka made. Great recipe.
Oh damn...you had a polish cake as family? .... wow.......called babcia.....
Try using UNCOOKED grated raw potatoes, add grated onion, garlic, egg, flour, salt, pepper, and cook in Crisco for some amazing flavor. No parsley.
OMG I am glad I found u both I have been wondering how make my dad some of the stuff he u make
My mom never boils potatoes and makes the best ones 👌 I am willing to try it your way though :) she also doesn't use chunks of onion but grates it with potatoes.
I can see several reasons now why my first attempt(s) at potato pancakes (latkes) we’re not successful. I’m excited to try these with this new recipe. I have a feeling they’ll come out much better. I think these would be delicious with applesauce over top as well.
Ohhh boy I bet that kitchen smells sooooo good! They look awesome! I have to say, though, I'm very biased -- my mom's are the best. Those do look amazing tho...
Yum!! 👍🏻💙
Yum! Yum! 👍🙏❤️🙂
*wife says no to the beer* ah so every kitchen is the same isnt it
XD hahaha yes.
“This takes a lot of skill”…as he’s grating potatoes 🤣🤣🤣 Love this couple! Hope he’s safe and doing well. More videos would be great
thank you.
Awesome! Can you do a receipe for Borscht? Thank you!
