Rene could you please talk about that segment with you and the Rock , I want to know if you felt offended or if there was any heat backstage.. Also I would like to know if they were ever going to change your gimmick and if you suggested anything for the development of your character.. Thank you
@@Bale4Bond I know he isn't from France he's Canadian but has some French roots..
We can do it later tomorrow and I can do it tomorrow if you need
Oh the promo when rock was calling him frenchie lmao that was messed up but funny
That segment with Torrie Wilson was great😂 "It's safe to say Fifi isn't the only b*tch in this ring!"🤣🤣
Rene Dupree vs John Cena on one of the 2004 Smackdowns is probably the first wrestling match I ever watched.
I’d love to hear about Rene’s life inbetween WWE & Japan.
As well as his career early in Japan. I recall being so sad when his time with WWE ended. Definitely felt like a guy you could build a brand around.
Rene was so underrated as a heel and worker.
As an adult who watched Rene in the WWE when I was 9-10 years old and the years moving forward it’s crazy all these years later at 29 to think that Rene was on Raw when he was 19 years old. That’s genuinely insane when I think about it - at that age I didn’t know shit about anything so the idea of being on the road 200+ days a year and I don’t even think you could rent a car even. Or to think how to understand how to manage money the way it works in the WWE at that age. It’s just wild to really think about Rene living that life at an age in the US where he would literally just have left high school and have genuinely zero knowledge or experience of anything in the real world and having those lessons come to you in this way.
Bra I proper loved how much of a heel you were in one of those smack down vs raw games when I was a wee kid. I got into the gym when I was young because of you Rene.
Loving the podcast René, best wishes from Dublin, Ireland 🇮🇪 🇨🇦
Loved this one. Lotta great info and stories, and thanks for answering my question! I’d love to hear you guys pick up with The Great American Bash for more on this time period.
i loved this feud, imo it showed rene could’ve won a midcard title, not at the time because cena was on the rise, but he could’ve won it later that year or down the road eventually.
Another great listen Rene. You always deliver!
Rene Dupree, I am huge fan since your WWE days. Kinda wish we could see you in WWE again. If not WWE, then perhaps AEW. WWE has lost much stardom since many of their releases. They have to keep bringing back Goldberg or Brock in order to lighten up the place and gain momentum. AEW sounds like a place where you could thrive even more. Miss the good old days of seeing you on Raw and SD. Feel sorry for what you had to go through in that hostile locker room back in 2004.
OMG...that Manscaped promo cracked me up 🤣😂🤣
This was Great Rene! When Vince came to the locker room to tell you need to bring more heat for your match with John Cena it was Awsome! You really made it So Real !!!
Great episode as always! Thank you for answering my question gentleman:)
Our pleasure!
@@cafederene Can you guys do a topic if you guys are comfortable talking Randy Orton and what he was like in person in WWE during your era Era Rene Dupree. Why don’t you like Randy Orton, Rene Dupree??!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great show guys I really enjoyed that feud back in the day. Also wow I've never heard that the reason Fifi was removed was because it bit Hiroko! thats mad..
Been waiting for this one bud🇨🇦👀
Great content Renee excellent work.
Almost at 10.k subscribers! I hope you get 100,000 subscribers!
Another solid episode and for future podcast, i would like to hear the pro wrestling scene in Quebec from your point of view Rene. Keep on rocking sir and have a safe upcoming weekend.
Cafe de Rene most underrated wrestling channel on yt. Sleeper!
Thank you
This is a fire episode
Please pick up the topic at Great American Bash! Loving this trip down memory lane from this period with Rene. I’d love to hear what he experienced next.
Also, at that time I too felt Rene made Cena. I recall thinking it was insane how a “newer” face like Rene’s could get Cena over like that. Usually it’s someone giving someone else a rub bc they’re a bigger star or whatever. Rene was on the same level or slightly below Cena I think by many’s standards. The Overall rating given to the wrestlers in the games sorta communicates that. But yea…Rene, at that period of his own career, made Cena. That’s impressive as hell.
I thibk at that time i mentioned it earlier cena was white hot as a face with 75 80% momentun
And rene had real heel heat from the fans probably even more so then the top heel on smackdown at the time JBL and that guy was fucking hated lol 1 of them had to take a L to elevate the other and cena never looked back
Id like to think in a alternate universe during this feud Vince called for rene to go over and gr became what cena became as a face or he became something like a forerign MJF
And cena went on to go overseas and make a name for himself without wwe and has an amazing podcast where he brings in a bunch of guys from the mid card of the early 2000s and hear all their crazy stories lol
1:01:47 Completely agree the US title should change to country of origin for foreign winners.
Although what is the real difference between Intercontinental title vs World as far as what the geography? Intercontinental seems to imply all the 7 continents so how is that any different from just saying "World"?
That's up there with implementing a ranking system, like the games, or finally explaining why wrestling is the one "sport" without the ability to demand a review of the last play or you know at least have a governing body that stops a match from obvious interference. Who needs a briefcase when you could just ask the refs to watch the last mins of Raw or the PPV and reverse the decision because obvious cheating? In fact who would agree to a sport where the in ring referee is the only one that counts? Even boxing doesn't do that.
Someone needs to shoot prank the WWE with trying to propose an IR sensor system to the ropes so as to warn the ref that someone else entered the ring illegally since the music, crowd reaction, and loud bang of a chair don't seem to.
To be fair to Cena, the throw of the Eiffel Tower was actually class. That could easily have gone wrong. If you think about it, Cena had a decent gimmick, he was obviously a very good bodybuilder but wasn’t really marketed as a bodybuilder. I am somewhat of a fan of him personally because of his professional attitude. You can see why the boss trusted him. As for being hit in the bell end, that is extremely painful, I took an ice cold football there once whilst playing goalkeeper back in the day and oh man pain like nothing else. Anyway I enjoyed the topic conversation this week guys!
If you listen to people discuss Cenas work ethic and attitude to do everything the company needed no questions asked of him it’s easy to see why he was the guy. Sure he sold a bunch of shit but the work ethic sets the dude apart
A shout out to Rene Dupre the World Heavyweight champion in my version of SvR 2006
There has to be an episode on Pat at some point one of wrestlings greatest minds.
Thank you for the podcast. Would you mind sharing what memories you have working with Scott Steiner?
Yeah that would be insane if you had oj as a guest on the show my third favorite wrestler in the business
Cena is also working out in the background in the WCW movie Ready To Rumble.
10:32 Ouch! 🤕 Woah! 😳
Good show
Even as a 10 year old kimd watching smackdown i knew the winner of the cena vs rene feud would lead the winner to being a superstar
Cause cena was white hot as a face and rene was getting booed just as much or more then the top heel on smackdown JBL, i dont remembere if it was before or after he won the world title from eddie but he was definitely top heel
So even though rene in 2004 wasnt the undertaker or triple h with a hall of fame worthy career, that was the feud cena moved on from and never looked back
So if no one else will say it i will rene dupree had a small hand in making john cena an international superstar
Idk Renee had a pod! Its lit
Rene Sweet Cradle Piledriver from intro
Is the Wrestle Memia segment ever going to make a comeback? Those segments are so funny

Hopefully we can do it in the future 👍🏻
Lol Fifi was awesome!
USA, Canada, UK, all in cahoots together. Idk what the mark is talking about.

@@cafederene
Can’t wait
I got a pitbull and a German Shepherd mix at home
An oj was with the company from 2004 to beginning of 2007 I'm pretty sure. An only thing holding him back was himself he was way before his time I was told he got fired because he brought his bf backstage. Meanwhile years later Darren young can do the same - losing his job smh Vince
Should do a match on aew if ya want too
A lot of us hate the Government as well. Yet the Canadian Government doesn't sound any better.
Do a episode on HHH
Rene just casually admits to taking creep shots. What a weird guy.
The presenter obviously didn't see it when Shelton Benjamin impersonated Bradshaw.
They should have given u a run with the belt smh wwe used to fuck over a lot of mid carders and still do
I weigh 138
Is Rene the guy who had the issue with Bob Holly ?
Yes, one of.. lol
Most memoriable tag match?
I remember Carlito beating cena 4 u.s title twas a good one.
As a 10 year old Cena kid at the time who was happy he finally got that belt back from Booker T I was pissed 😂
Anti chaffing ball deodorant!
Hell yeah
@31:08 Well VKM and those of us who were paying attention back then recall the President of France Jacque Chirac talking all that trash on the War on Terror so it didn't take much to hate France at the time from a US perspective. It wasn't merely foreign guy talking trash after 9/11, it was those assholes who we bailed out from the Nazis talking trash. VKM knows what he is doing sometimes.
Let's just call it like it is: Torrie Wilson was garbage. She couldn't work or talk. She was a decoration for the TV show.
But man what decoration she is
At what cost?
Well from my fandom of her time in the WWE I was 9-14 years old. So she was just fine for me. I imagine most people understood at that point in time the female wrestlers weren’t there to be the technical workers but good or bad were there to be eye Candy so it came at no cost because fans knew what their role was at the time. Todays age of women’s wrestling is a different universe form her time.
