    Dang, I just had one just like that that died in my hands last week.
    Poor little thing, just wouldn't eat after the first night home.
    I guess, at least, he was warm and loved when he passed.

    Spoilers. It dies. I am trying it with bandait . It is wide so it can keep the bones of the 2 legs paralel better while still being flexable. I keep it 24h because any stress and force will put on the leg will push it in the wrong direction and the way you done it during the day its definatly makeing the situation worst as it forces the joint to bend inwards. I gave 2 goals: 1 See it stand up with the aid , 2 babysteps with the aid( i saw it do it with a wider setup so i know it can do it. After looking at the rest of baby birds i realised the legs should be very vertican with wideness of my finger betwin so i made the new setup smaller a bit ) . Isolation , of course. My case is not as bad as this one but still very bad. To be clear , i am not blameing you in any way. You tryed alot to force something so fragile to correct its self so mutch . I know that humanity of our hits even harder when its abount an animal you take care of , but in the end ,life can be to complicated.

      This was two years ago and we ended up putting it down because the leg continued to twist in the wrong direction. I’ve learned a lot since then and have been able to successfully treat many others. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t 🤷‍♀️ I just do the best that I can

      @@FarmGirlInProgresswhat method did you find works the best? I have a chick that I honestly don’t know what’s wrong with. Can’t tell if it’s leg is broken or if it has spraddle

    • @FarmGirlInProgress
      @FarmGirlInProgress  Год назад +2

      @@azamora1673 it honestly depends on the chick and what the leg looks like. If it’s slipped tendon I try to fix that first by slipping the tendon back into place and then splinting it straight for 24-48 hours… once the tendon is staying in place I’ll then hobble the chick to make sure it’s walking right… usually after 3-4 days it’s back on it’s feet and just fine. But sometimes there are underlying issues that I can’t see, a twisted bone, a joint out of place, a broken bone that healed wrong, genetic issues, etc 🤷‍♀️ there’s so many possibilities and they’re so small that sometimes you miss an injury and treatment doesn’t work. I just do the best I can and pray for the best outcome 🤷‍♀️ I don’t have a poultry vet in my area, so I’m having to learn on my own and help where I can… if I can’t help, I put them down and at least end their suffering. If you have a vet, I always recommend getting a vets opinion before doing anything

      This video is so helpful, I have one with both legs affected. We’ve been hobbling it but doesn’t seem to be improving… I work at a vet clinic and have the ability to X-ray and wondering if it would be beneficial. I don’t want to give up on it, it’s otherwise doing surprisingly well!

    Hey can turkeys get this? I have a turkey that looks just like this.

      I’ve had turkeys get slipped tendons, but I haven’t seen a twisted tibia yet. My “assumption” would be yes they can as they have very similar bone structures, but I’m not a vet and don’t 100% know.
