Here we can recognize the natives from the foreigners by how they react to a spring shower that hits while they're out shopping. Natives stand under the awning because they know it won't last but about ten minutes. Foreigners go out and get soaked... and later steamed when the sun comes out and boils the land.

Yep I live in the South I've lived in Chattanooga, Georgia, Florida and , you can't go out much after June and stay in AC till October. I don't have a clue how my ancestors endured this in the 1800's before AC was a thing. My grandmother would never turn on her AC and I would just literally melt into a chair as a child. She grew up in the early 1900's without AC and didn't much care for it. My childhood was sporadic... big stores like Woolworth would have great big black fans on the ceiling , I was always afraid they'd come after me. I remember a trip to Sears in the 60's as a child with plastic strips flying out of AC's and this was sorta of cool to see. We got one a window unit. Imagine feeling relief from humidity and heat! Now I just carry ice everywhere in the summer, wonder why the most southern states don't have icees and just literally wilt but I will say Texan heat will just fry you right on spot with zero humidity and you wish for humidity. It's that bad. Imagine not even having ice to make it thru a southern summer???? Pity those folks just live in water 24/7 .... I'm in the creek if you need me.... what you shout...

You know, you could, like, not have spring at all until the middle of April. When snowbanks *taller than you are* just barely begin to melt-- and then refreeze again the next day.
It's beautiful. You should come see it some day. You'll probably fall over a lot 'cause the ice is *very* slippery.
Oh, and that's also the time of year where you gotta start making sure you're not accidentally walking *on* the river. So much new stuff for you to think about! Fun!

Ha, I live on the northern edge of the south, near DC, so it turns from 3 feet of Snow, to pollen dust cloud, and then a tornado, and dont forget the thunderstorms all summer, and then super windy and super cold autumn lol

Also a Floridian. Spring is the time after and before Hurricane season.
After Christmas, New Years, and around the Northerner's Spring break.
If you get to our early June final day of school you have gone too far!

It's those twenty or thirty minutes between our two regular seasons, "Damn Hot" and "Satan's Butthole". We get another twenty or thirty minutes like it six months later, aka "fall".

As a northern Ohioan, he's absolutely correct. If we hit 85, it's really hot out here. If it is above 85, we might as well just eat ice cream for breakfast, because we're going to be hot all day.
