Fun fact, my child turned our dollar general into a drive through. He was still on his learners permit and mixed up the gas and brake.
Omg. Since it’s a fun fact I take it that you’re kid ended up being okay. My youngest is due to start driving in a few months and I’m stressed about it.
@@babymama406 just keep reminding them brake on the right, gas on the left.
@@scallywag1716 😂
@@scallywag1716 lol I see what you did there
🤣😂
Fun fact, my OSHA trainer told me that he and his investment group withdrew their investment from dollar general because Dollar General brakes OSHA violations on purpose in order to save warehouse space. They are a fire hazard.
That's fuqen hilarious
BREAKS
@@jc9716 Dollar General tier spelling
The DG in town was shut down for like a week by the fire marshal because of this.
Former DG ASM. They do not care how much shit is in the aisles. You got freight in? Put it out. It’s in everyone’s way? Too bad. There’s a reset? Get it done. Get that planogram done, do it NOW! Put out those price changes!
No regrets over being fired. None. I moved on to better things.
As a Dollar General cashier, people with FULL CARTS of merchandise are my villain origin story. 😭😭😭
As a former dollar general cashier, I'm right there with you, especially if there is multiple of them in a line ten people deep and you have no backup or if you needed to give someone a refund, and had to yell to get someone to come do the refund.
@@nyx6892 A few months ago I was in a DG, and the lady in front of me had TWO carts full of groceries. After trying to use about a dozen coupons, she tried two cards, neither of which would go through. She then asked if she could write a check! But that wasn't the end - she asked the cashier to write the check for her because she "hadn't written a check in a long time" and "couldn't remember how to do it." The cashier declined, and ALL THAT MERCHANDISE had to be put back, as the lady had no way to pay for it.
Is that why y'all dont have carts? Its a FULL BLOWN CART CONSPIRACY
I work at Family Dollar, and I can definitely empathize. They always seem to come up when my other cashier is on break too, ensuring that there will now be a backup of like 10 people because half of the cart will be apparel, which takes extra time to remove the security tags and hangers. Or full of short-dated clearance items, which have to be keyed manually to adjust the price.
@@DCYote1 My store doesn’t take EBT for reasons, and full carts are always either EBT meaning it’s instant put backs, or it’s cleaning supplies and I’m in for 5-6 different transactions so they can get their damn coupons. 😭
I love my dg because the people at the registers always a different store when greeting customers like" hi welcome to block buster" it throws people off and makes them laugh.
I love that, lol!
The one DG I ever go to, I’ve found that I actually knew the person at the register! Like, 3 or 4 times! Apparently it’s easy to get a job there?
That is too precious
I worked at Blockbuster and they drilled "greet every customer"
into our head. It was actually conditioning, because the door had a little chime. So even when the store was closed, we heard that and said, "Welcome to Blockbuster!"
My sister is a manager at DG. She said every morning she had people who just came in to use the bathroom. Even the venders and the FedEx driver always had to use the bathroom. She finally stopped cleaning it and people stopped using it. One guy actually stepped out while she was running the register and asked for toilet paper. She made him wait.
Classy employees-all low
Why tho
When I was working the register I was going to take his basket from him but he went & returned it himself, I said "preciate ya"... apparently that man was Gareth & I changed his world that day. The seed had been planted, it grew into understanding of this universe & his place in it, he found peace, love, & most importantly... appreciation from our encounter. Amazing.
When I was building my tiny house, I used their bathroom during the build. I fell in love with my local DG, and I used it to avoid Walmart. We have a great DG, and it now has produce, too.
Well I'm jealous regarding the produce.
Ours had watermelons a couple of years in a row but they were terrible!! 😖
Is it a dollar general market?
I do the same thing i dont like going to walmart only go there if i absolutely have to
@@adamhawkins3036 where I live we have TONS of DG stores and they are different categories. We have quite a few that have more food and produce but they are not the big size DG Market stores. We also have a DG Market Popshelf combo. Lots of choices and most of them are nicer and newer and better organized than the older ones that didn’t have stockrooms and you couldn’t get through the aisles ever.
“Could fit in my forearm like a wee babe”. Just…. Yes 😂
😂😂😂that’s me at DG.
Not true for me
I’m on a first name basis with the people at my Dollar General. I’ve introduced them to my mother. They are like my second family.
You sound like you're from Minnesota.😊
@@gaiasguardian205 ...or Iowa.
There are several types of establishments where customers should avoid using the restroom. Besides Dollar General, another place that comes to mind is the grocery store. When I was a little kid, I had to pee constantly, and inevitably the urge would strike when my mom took me grocery shopping. I remember my mom having to walk me past pallets of lettuce, paper towels, etc. to get to the sad, dingy employee restroom in the back of the store. Ugh.
Yes‼️
Our Dollar General locks the bathroom door. So you have to go get this long dirty wooden stick with a key on it. I didn’t want to touch the germ stick after washing my hands so I returned it wrapped in paper towels 😬
To be fair at some point In the past 40 years grocery stores have really upped their bathroom game. No longer in back storeroom.
My niece wanted to go to every bathroom in town! Just to see it, curious or something.
Bad ting though Dollar General, Family Dollar, Grocery Stores and Kroger’s all don’t keep upon their bathrooms, as well as a lot of gas stations, surprisingly Aldi’s has a nice bathroom and, though it’s a one seater, it’s also very spacious for those that are handicap! Still what, I don’t like about public restrooms, the person before you takes forever to get out and, then, it stinks where they didn’t flush it, and they left you a present not only in the toilet but, they left it all over the seat! Then, usually when, the person comes out it’s a big lady that usually weighs about 300lbs and, on top of it she smells like she hasn’t taken a shower in about a wk!
When I worked at a Dollar General back in about 2001, we would smoke in the bathroom during our breaks. Nobody really ever cleaned them.
Also, the manager once walked in, opened a register, then took out the entire cash drawer and used the money in it to buy meth. Beaumont TX for the win!
You can’t smoke in the store
Okay but any time I go into a Dollar General, I only ever see carts cause the baskets are being used to hold the merchandise next to the boxes of merchandise that hasn’t been shelved yet
The only store I've ever found that could compete with Dollar Generals disorganization is Ollies. As much as I love hunting for treasure - if I'm going to a store to grab something quick, I kind of want to be able to find it in under 1/2 hour.
They need to do a video of Ollie’s reviews!
Or Fred's, though I think they got bought out a few years back.
@@davidedmondson5633 They might need rescue gear to pull each other out from under and piles that fall on them! 😉
I miss Ollie's.
When you need to train for an obstacle course but get some bargain shopping done, go to Ollie's or Dollar General, 2 for 1 😆
The number of Dollar Generals reminds me of what happens when you get a rainstorm and discover in your yard a mess of white puffball mushrooms.
I Wish my yard was full of puffball mushrooms. You're lucky, unless you don't like mushrooms.
But puffballs are delicious, especially sauteed in butter. I'm blind, so DG tastes like bruises (from tripping over boxes) and disappointment. But they got the good bread.
Once you get near the inner core of the bigger cities you will find Family Dollar, Dollar General's urban counterpart. You'llalso find Churches Chicken, or more likely a Vietnamese chicken place that used be a Churches.
Puffballs?? Yum!!!
@@Bacopa68 we got Family Dollar way out here in the middle of nowhere, too, but they parking lot looks like a goddamned ghost town, while the DG's is slap full. And the Walmart in the next county over? That shit looks like Black Friday every Sunday. It's nuts.
I worked as a waitress, some years back. And a customer claimed she had bad service (she wanted the meals compensated for her family of 4) my manager had seen me doing my job, and had to disagree with this customer. She said she would never step foot in this restaurant again. About 4 or 5 months later, there she was, in the restaurant waiting for a table…. I made sure we made eye contact, then I smiled. I told my manager, and I told him, I wasn’t going to wait on her. But I did walk past her table numerous times, making eye contact.
Savage! Lol
Im sorry for your bad experience but ummm...this was about Dollar General, not you.
I'm gonna need Liz to start reading every comment I ever read on the internet, anywhere, ever. she really brings them to life lol.
Yes😂😂
I absolutely love the energy in these videos, you guys are so funny, especially Talia and Liz.
Poor Ryan and Adam… they will need to up their game, I guess.😊
Love that Liz has Jay and Silent Bob pictured outside a Dollar General. 🤘
I just want to say that I love you guy's and gal's. You bring the south back to me. I lost my home in one of the many flood's in Baton Rouge Louisiana. I've had to move to Indiana to stay with my son and it's like living in a foreign country. I love the south. I miss the south. Hand's down the south has the most wonderful people in this country!

@@azurephoenix9546 Yeah, that train thing is really tragic. I heard people were losing their stock & already suffering health consequences. My heart bleeds for the Midwest. Such beautiful fertile land absolutely poisoned by greed.
Everytime I went inside a Dollar General and saw that, I knew they’d just pulled it outta the back. Can’t rush the workers if they’re busy doing checkout and stock.
Can't rush workers when DG only hires two people.
@@brandi8040 can’t rush shit when most of the items are empty lol.
"It's not Peach Rings, it's Peech Rangs!" 🤣🤣
And what was that about Dollar General lore? I'm intrigued.
We got a Dollar General nearby and they built another one 2 miles away! I am totally up on the self replicating theory here…😂
LOL😂😂😂😂
I'm in!
From here in South Carolina lol?
I think in an earlier video they suggested that Dollar General stores reproduced by asexual budding.
Dollar general IS no longer the place to get frozen food cheap, it is NOW actually cheaper to get most tv dinners at the grocery store.
I’ve worked at Dg still do for over 2 years. Yes you are right. We get price changes every week can’t even keep up with it. Our prices are INSANE now. I went to target the other day and noticed my stores prices are HIGHER especially for food
I love this channel so much my ribs always hurt while watching you with how much I'm laughing
My nephew worked at DG while he was at La Tech. He became the de facto manager at the age of 20 merely by the fact that the real manager was MIA and no one else showed up for work.
Dude! I literally JUST came back from Dollar General! The only thing I don't like are the thin aisles and self checkout.
Self checkout? The ones around me, like 5, aren't self checkout but have actual cashiers. And yes, I have been told, "we appreciate you."
@@debbiethomas2622 Same, new one just opened too, no self checkout. One checkout counter, two registers, and one worker, one manager.
A family member used to work at a DG. That DG did not even have running water for most of the summer last year. They had a port-a-john in the parking lot. If the staff needed to use water to mop up or something, they would use a gallon of distilled water from the inventory. The whole store was a dumpster fire.
The last time I went in the DG, I literally saw NO ONE, walked in, bought one thing at self check out, and walked out wondering if I could have stolen what I bought.
Your D.G. has a self checkout??? What is the world coming to...
I LOVE Talia's adorable laugh!
This channel has some of the best content on RUclips.
I always get a cart at Dollar general because it helps me get around in spite of my chronic fatigue it helps to have something to lean on
Me too! ❤️🤗🐝
Same🙋🏻♀️🌺
My mom always referred to the carts as her walkers.
@@chrissiler2382 I use it that way too. I’m on oxygen and between that machine and my purse, they are more than I can carry very far. Much less what I might buy. If I go in a store without carts, I turn right around and go back out again.❤️🤗🐝
The Dollar General closest to me (10 minutes away?) has always been clean, well-stocked as in no real empty shelves and has good deals. I tend to go there when I need something odd or cheap or am bored lol.
You have found a unicorn 🦄
Sounds to me like you live more rural than town, and city DG's are even worse.
@@gaiasguardian205 Yes!! The ones in town & the city around us are always half-empty, they never ever stock but the one out in the country not far from me where I grew up at is immaculate and always fully stocked.
Does the district manager live nearby?
How long has it been open? The Dollar General where I live was well stocked for awhile, but after about 10 -12 months it started to not be clean, not stocked, & they started to go through employees like cocaine backstage at a Motley Crue concert. & That's been consistent with all of them within a 40 mile radius.
I work part time at a DG in NJ,and District managers literally tell employees to post good 5 star reviews for their stores.DG employees are quite literally pictured next to the definitions of overworked, underpaid and underappreciated. A true yellow and black hell on earth.
Talia, as a white hired retired grandma, I agree. No filter and no patience. It's liberating.
We were coming back from AZ and found a Dollar General in Gila Bend, AZ. I’d never been to one so we stopped. Got all my Thanksgiving decor for half price and had so much fun just looking around. The nearest one to my house is almost an hour away.
I live in Missouri and our local DG’s are a mess. It’s probably because 2 people work there and don’t have time to stock, run the register and clean it. Last year they shut down for a week during summer because corporate had control of the thermostat and it was crazy hot in there. You’d think they would turn the air down instead of letting the employees just close the store 🤷🏻♀️
We must be an anomaly because the Dollar General near me is clean, there aren't a lot of carts in the aisles and the employees are courteous.
I have 2 complaints about my Dollar General store. 1. They only have 1 register open at any given time, so the line stays backed up. Just pretend like they don't even have a self check-out because it's ALWAYS broken! 2. Their shelves are almost always bare because they don't have enough staff to stock merchandise.
As for why Dollar General only has three carts-- all the other carts are here, along the overgrown creek one lot over from our house. That's where all the local homeless folks hang out. My husband gathers up carts and takes them back to the local stores (doesn't get paid, just wants to keep the carts from ending up in the creek and causing a flood when they back up the spring rainfall.)
I have never felt "wanted" at a Dollar General. I often get the feeling that I'm interrupting their smoke breaks by wanting to make a purchase.
You guys just KILL me!!!! I just appreciate y’all! ❤❤❤❤❤
I've been in some good DGs and some horrible ones. I will definitely go to one to avoid Walmart at certain times of the day. And you have to give them credit they will put one in the middle of nowhere. lol
They will put 4 in the middle of nowhere.
@Katy Claypool I know it makes no sense to have so many so close together they getting as bad as a Starbucks on every corner or a Walmart Supercenter around the corner from a Walmart neighborhood Market lol
I actually did have a great experience once in a Dollar General. As I was putting away my cart, I found someone's wallet left behind. I went back inside with the wallet and the manager helped me go through it to find the owners identity. We were able to get in touch with her employer since her work ID was in the wallet to let her know what had happened and that her wallet was safe and sound in the safe located in the Manager's office. I was SO grateful for the manager for all of her help. I didn't want to go through someone's personal property without a witness, and she was patient and extremely helpful with the search for the wallet's owner. She and the wallet's owner called me once she came to retrieve it just to set my overly worried mind at ease.
"I have never felt appreciated by the staff at dollar general."
That part got me good😂😂😂
I absolutely love to do penny shopping at dollar general. I have had multiple carts full of items all for a penny each.
BEST ENDING!!! I love it! You guys cheered me up after a rough day, thank you so much!
We drove from Porter, Texas
to Conroe, Texas which was less than 10 miles. we saw 6 separate Dollar General stores in that 10 mile trip
😂
Only 6??? Jeez I think we have that many in a mile radius 😆 (not joking either)
The carts end up scattered all over the county. Or down the hill off the side of the parking lot
coming from someone that works there, we get too much merchandise but don’t sell. it just ends up crowded everywhere and we just don’t give a shit how it’s organized
Love these people
There is a strip mall in my town with a Dollar Tree and Family Dollar right next to each other. Really they share a wall. Two stores down in Dollar General. I have seen people come out of one and go into the other. 🤣🤣🤣
Somebody give Ryan a hug
Those darn self-replicating stores!
in regards to the bathroom review my DG used to have ours unlocked until my coworker walked in and saw a bunch of empty beer cans on the floor. they're locked now
The Conehead imitation at the end had me ROTFLMAO.
Y'all look too young to remember the Coneheads. 🤣😂😆😁. 👵☮️🖖
One of the funniest videos y'all ever made!
I worked my way from a cashier to a store manager , we had to attend a 2 week class, and in that class, we were taught that DG basically preys on minorities and low income families . You are trained that prices are deceiving and are actually higher for less quality products. Your lays potato chips weigh 4 Oz less at DG than they do at Wal Mart for a family size bag. We were given very low hours to offer employees, which meant managers wind up working 50 to 80 hrs a week for 40k a year. Do the math and we made less than minimum wage. We couldn't call a employee to come in and help us because corporate wouldn't allow it. Employees got bare minimum hours and crap pay. District managers were on a power trip and treated you like garbage. It was a horrible place to work. A manager unloading an 18 wheeler and one cashier , yet people wonder why stock is in the floor and a manager or cashier was a bit pissy. It's because DOLLAR GENERAL DOESNT GIVE TWO SHITS ABOUT YOU.
My dad taught me to microwave honey buns with butter on them. Truly a gourmet breakfast. And healthy. 😂
This is weird! Why? Because our local DG is staffed by friendly people. Unfortunately, I always leave with more than I planned to!
I was so excited when we finally got a DG out here. For awhile it was sorta awesome. “8:pm, need tape? No problem, I’ll just run out to Dollar General!”
But pretty soon I started noticing little things, like, the milk was ALWAYS sour. And the girl wearing a uniform shirt and smoking out front had a beard thicker than my husband’s. Just odd.
One time I actually cleaned their bathroom for them, because I really needed to go, and once I got in there, it was instantly apparent no human person should sit on that commode in that condition. I noticed they had bleach, pine sol, a mop bucket and ton of paper towels, so, problem solved.
Anyhoo…
Last summer it was just suddenly closed. They had a big poster with “CLOSED FOR A/C REPAIR!!!” on it.
That store remained closed, with all that merchandise just festering in there for MONTHS. All Summer, all Fall, and most of this Winter.
They just reopened.
Oh. My. Word.
The smell in there is truly indescribable. I went in there with my son for something, and literally ran out as fast as I could.
It was like a very particular rotten vomit concentrate. Like, if Febreeze made a fragrance called “Bigfoot’s Houseparty Hangover”, and just rained it down in there.
I never smelled such a powerful vomit stank in my whole life.
Anyway, sometimes I see cars actually parked there. Maybe those people have no sense of smell.
We have 3 in our town😭
Steve has himself an admirer. 😂
🤣🤣🤣, I've never been in their bathroom. I'd be scared too
"But if you don't use the potty...Good store!"
Dollar General is Dollar General. They will have huge carts of product blocking the aisles. They never have enough staff. If you go in there with an "Ok, let's get this over with" attitude, you're gonna hate the store. I go in there thinking: "Goody, let's see what treasures I find today, and don't forget the toilet paper" You will have a much better experience. The few people who are working at the stores are nice and friendly, and do what they can with the time they have to work...but they're not gonna hurry on stocking. I have rarely seen the same DG employees twice.
My husband ALWAYS has to use the restroom when he goes into the DG. Every single time!! It is less than 5 minutes from our house.
Dollar General, Dollar Tree, and Family Dollar, I have to look at the signs to know what stores I am in. I prefer baskets!
Love you guys and love my DG. They are nice and the store is always clean.
I think the good reviews were for stores that just opened.
But seriously where I live in Virginia our stores don’t often have the issues with stuff in the floor and the staff are normally polite.
That ending with the alien talk. So awesomely funny!!!!!!!!
3 yrs ago, you did, "Dollar General is out of control." well its true. I now have 4 of them less than 1mile in any direction you go. Bless their heart ❤️ for making my life easier.
We have to go 5 or 6 miles to a nearest dollar general they don’t have them in the country
Here in New Orleans, all are a mess. Can’t get down isles, crap on the floor, no one to open locked cases for razors or deodorant. Rude checkout workers and only 1 open with 10 in line
I see managers at DG all the time, they just look like regular customers, you wouldn't realize they were in charge if you didn't know.
My favorite DG is the one in Surprise, AZ that is literally right in the middle of a housing development. It was like this rogue DG was built there long before thinking about putting houses there, and it's the only business in that entire area. Strange.
Dollar Generals are my go-to store. Some stores have more boxes in the aisles than others but I've never been too offended to shop there let alone complain about a store that will go on whether I shop there or not! Why complain? It's fun for the whole family! Kids get cheap candy, and a toy, husband doesn't complain because it is a DOLLAR GENERAL, and it saves me a trip to Walmart! And, let's all be honest, nowadays, almost anything is better than Walmart.
I am short. And in order to get/reach something on a high shelf in a local DG I had to make a "stool" out of kitty litter boxes and take my chances. There was literally one person working, at the register. I know this because she kept screaming it to anyone who would listen. Oh and I used their bathroom in the back room. And that was nasty 🤢
I'm gonna be honest, the last time I went to Dollar General there was a manager there but she was the only person working and while she was VERY nice she was also very frustrated that there were no other employees.
"Peach Raangs" LOL I could *not* stop laughing! That is so, so accurate.
Y’all got to do more of these!
oddly enough the one in the rinky dink town I live in. in Illinois is clean courteous and always making sure you are finding what you need
Here's a good idea. States should start using Dollar General as mile markers on the freeway.
The cone heads at the end made me LOL
My dollar general is a hot mess.
Inventory crowding the aisles, blocking shelves,no employees, filthy, dark, looks abandoned.used to love that store.I now avoid it
The “like I said” review sent me laughing like a damn fool 😂
The "like I said" from Michael had me literally rolling on my bed
5:12 the Michael bit had me crying I was laughing so hard.
I busted up laughing at the end 👽
Also, while traveling from Missouri to Florida, there was times Dollar Gen was the only business for several miles! Like we were looking for the next gas station and out of the blue we drove by a Dollar Gen. We kept driving tho cuz there was no way to turn around, but also, they have a public restroom?? Ours don't, neither of them.
Pet peeve. Bathrooms are a basic human need, no bathroom, no $$$ from me
TBH my DG has a restroom that you have to ask for the key. I would GLADLY trade that for actual produce.
Motor oil at Dollar General costs almost exactly half as much as the same brand motor oil at the auto parts store right next door. (In my neighborhood).
Now I'm craving honey buns. I don't go to our DG as much as I used to because there are some things I need they just don't have, but I always have good experiences when I do go.
As someone who works in retail, the people that tell you they are never coming back are the ones who we dont want to come back.
The lady upset the Dollar General didn’t have any carts. My Dollar General is always out of baskets. I even had to use my reusable grocery bag as a basket got in line and cashier started yelling at me that I was trying to steal items. Lady if I wanted to steal items. I wouldn’t be waiting in your long line trying to buy groceries. It’s a dollar general not Publix.
Ryan: “What Dollar General did HE go to?” 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
It’s basically down to expectations. I feel like the people who have good experiences are the ones who know what to expect from DG. It’s for when you need something quick and cheap and not flashy. You don’t linger there for atmosphere.
7:32 Betty Rubble laugh. 😂
I did a scrap metal clean out of old shelf’s and carts for my local DG when they were remodeling with a new manager and let me just say the yellow carts were prevalent but they didn’t want to get rid of them yet because corporate didn’t send new ones yet lol 😂
Love these videos, keep it up
I buy drinks, paper towels, toilet papers, any notebooks, school paper, ink pens, cards, clothes soap, dish soap and some candy.
I love DG but now that I'm wheelchair bound I don't go....because I can't around the store
Very funny!! Do more of these. 😁
Up here in the county where I live, in SC, we have Dollar General Store, Family Dollar Store and Dollar Tree Store and most of the towns have two Dollar General Stores. My town is the small and may get a third one a few miles out of the town limit. We have a total of 10 Dollar Generals in our county.
