      Yeah It's a handy little trick for filling those gaps. Also useful in some builds depending on the model. I hope to get some more winter shots but the problem is its just so cold and windy right now... plus a lot of low cloud so sometimes my flying field is in the clouds with very poor visibility :/ Cheers

    Nice review - I like your foam repair. I always frisby launch my AR900 with a shake start for auto-launch, after blending a finger from a bad auto-launch using the skids to grip. This is a reliable way to launch without requiring any idle throttle.

    Find really interesting you didn't try to use a repeater... In my humble opinion the transmitter have some kind of harmonics... that actually are interacting with your VRX.. using a repeater would allow you to stay far from the Receiver and check that theory.. I mean if the transmitter is a good quality there's no good reason to walk away from it.(Plus consider as well moving the transmitter to the tip of the opposite wing away from the Crossfire RX)... Best of luck!! I do plan to put an plywood "Spine in the center of the fuselage & set up a hook so I can use a bungee cord "I do have a bad shoulder and can not give my self the privilege of throwing it like every one else... Great video I really enjoy it!

    If on wing you put crossfire antenna vertical, you need put verticaly antenna on tx unit.
    Advice: replace tx antenna to moxon 915 (868), and replace t-mortal standart antenna on wing to tune on 915 (868) dipole.

      Nice, I've not heard of the Ratel Mini, I'll check it out. They made a couple of other changes on the Ratel 2 like a wider angle lens, but I just see that as a personal preference thing rather than an upgrade.
      Cheers, glad you enjoyed it. One of those videos that ended up a lot longer than intended but there was just a lot I wanted to cover. This could have been 1 hour long if i's said all of the things I was thinking haha. Yeah the scenery is always great when you get a nice blanket of snow... however, my car can't make it up the steep icy road so I had to walk up about 500m 😅 cheers mate

    • @MrD
      @MrD 3 года назад +1

      @@AdamGdoesFPV to be honest, I read about the optics on the Ratel 2, and the wider angle, which put me off a little. The “DJI” glass could be better, but the preview image looked a fair bit more fisheye, but probably not enough to notice in flight. The Mini I think has been out for a little while. It was after the baby, but before the 2. I didn’t notice it until last night, when I was looking at cameras for the next project.

      @@AdamGdoesFPV geez! That's a bummer. Looks like it would be a decent vtx. I stuck with tbs after dealing with alot of hakrc and akk stuff. Never used tramp or rush stuff. The pro32 is an amazing vtx even the nano32 is awsome in my 3inch and whoop stuff! Smaller than a stamp. Have you tried the pro32 yet? Saw in the video you had one. I know they were pushing close to 2w when it came out but an update dropped that to closer to 1w bc of cooling issues. But I don't see why if being mounted on a wing with constant air flow that it would be a issue and with a crossfire and if you use their goggle reciever and wifi you can get dynamic power to the vtx as well! I fly a ar900 and only have a unify pro 800mw with triple feed patch and pagoda antennas with the stock dipole antenna I got 17km range over the ocean 1 way on 800mw and 500mw crsf power! Have the full size crsf TX @2w I bet if I went to 1.2/1.3ghz video my only limit is the batt! Building my own packs out of my imr vape Batts. 3000mah 45a continuous draw Batts I'm going to try making 3s3p pack so 9000mah I'd get a good solid hour of fast flying! Lol. Probubly gonna be my last flight with it knowing me! Lost my 7inch quad on the side of a mountain that was 5 miles away from me at home point and another 2500 feet up the mountain side on the other side of the peak! I called that a wash! Lol! Hey, from memory I was getting minimum 30mins and would easily get 1h just cruising. The li-ion can output around 20a continuously which is nice for medium speed flying. You can punch the throttle for loops at the start of the flight but as it gets to lower end of its voltage range you’ll have a lot less power, even to the point where you can just about maintain cruise amps. I happily used li-ion for most flights on my AR Pro and it’s fine, just don’t expect the same punch or sustained power as lipo.

      Li-ion will give a bit of punch early on but they don’t like any sustained high amp draw and will drop in voltage quickly. Towards the end of its voltage range Ali-ion will really struggle and full throttle will give you barely any more than slow cruise. For medium throttle to low cruise they are all good. If you want to fly acro or fast etc then go lipo. I set mine up for both depending on my mood.

    Hi Adam!
    Thank you very much for your interesting channel and very informative videos.
    I would like to ask a few questions.
    Firstly, about the DJI OSMO ACTION camera.
    Are you satisfied with this camera or should I buy HERO 7,8,9?
    Do you use light filters and if yes which ones (ND-8, ND-16?)?
    The flight video taken with the Dji camera looks awesome. What settings do you use? (4k 60fpc?, auto shutter? auto ISO?)
    Second question about AR WING PRO wing model.
    Do you think the wing has advantages compared to twin-engine aircraft models like the MFD Crosswind.
    I have the AR WING PRO model now, but it's not fully assembled yet.
    And to be honest after watching your videos about MFD Crosswind I have doubts whether I should try to fly it or sell the wing and buy MFD Crosswind.
    What is the advantage of flying wings in general, are they more fun to fly? are they more stable? are they faster?
    I need a relatively small, easily transportable model for stable mid-wind flying, night flying, long long distance flying, for flying in the mountains. Can you recommend a model?
    For now, likes MFD Crosswind and NIMBUS 1800.
    I really beg you to answer, it's important to me. Thank you very much!

    • @AdamGdoesFPV
      @AdamGdoesFPV  3 года назад +1

      Hi, and thank you for the great feedback 😊
      I am satisfied with the Osmo Action and for now I have no intention to purchase any gopro. I believe the GP 8 and 9 got quite large in size, but the Osmo isn't too bad. I never have any issues with it and I always hear about people having problems with the gopros. I run mine on 4K 60fps with RockSteady on most of the time. I never use any ND filters and it stays in auto shutter and auto ISO.
      The AR Pro and MCW are quite different. For quiet, long range cruising with camera panning etc the MCW is the winner. The AR Pro is a lot more compact, aerobatic and less time consuming to build. Depends how you want to fly I guess 😀
      Good luck with whichever camera and plane you choose. Cheers 👍🏻

      But I'll ask again.
      I see that you fly a lot of wing models.
      What's their sweet spot, what makes them so appealing to so many people.
      It seems to me they are quite difficult to control, especially in windy conditions, they are not stable, very sensitive to the centre of gravity setting, don't like low speed and are prone to stall, may be prone to yaw effect. Am I forgetting something?))
      So where are the pros? Could the wing be a good FPV carrier for filming cinematic clips for example in the mountains.
      Or are they designed for something else after all.

      - 3 x wings
      - 7 x planes
      - 2 x Draks (people cannot decide if these are wings or planes haha. personally I see them as wings)
      Advantages of wings:
      - Less complexity, only 2 control surfaces and therefore only 2 servos required
      - Generally easier to build and easier to laminate.
      - Easier to transport in 1 piece and less likely to get damaged as less parts that stick out
      - Generally wings are cheaper I find
      - 99.9% of wings have pusher config making them ideal for FPV unlike planes.
      - More likely to survive a crash than a plane
      The Zcon is my favourite wing due to it being fast and efficient, it can stay in the air for a long time too. It's quite stable in yaw, probably because of it's huge verts, and it can glide for a long time! I love that I get it out of the car, no construction, plug the lipo in and throw :)

As always thanks

    Could the lines in the video be related to the fan running on the vtx ? I've had similar lines appear when once mounted my vtx too close to the motor on a mini AR wing...

    • @AdamGdoesFPV
      @AdamGdoesFPV  3 года назад +1

      I had this thought about the fan too. I tried a few things to solve the problem but didn’t want to spend a lot of time talking about it in an already long video 😅 I nearly took it apart to disable the fan just to find out what causes it. It’s definitely just an issue isolated to the vtx as it happens on the bench nowhere near any other electronics, on any power output level. When I simply unplug and replace with any other vtx it’s an instant clear picture. Maybe this is just faulty 🤷🏻‍♂️ who knows. Thanks for watching and for commenting 👍🏻

    Just had an unsuccessful maiden today with this wing attributed to a bad hand launch. What’s your recommendation for hand launching this wing? I’m a newbie to flying wings. I’ve seen some recommend “overhead vertical launch” and others “side wing toss”. Any tips? Thanks in advance

    • @AdamGdoesFPV

      Sorry to hear that. My method is to hold it close to the FPV camera with fingers underneath and thumb on top. I never heard of using PVA glue for this purpose. You can just activate the PU/Gorilla glue with a drop of water and stirring. It will then expand on its own and you can apply it part way through expansion when you like the consistency. Does PVA help out?

    • @comsterfpv9668
      @comsterfpv9668 3 года назад

      You can mix in black dye for a bit of a better appearance, although it the new material won't blend perfectly.

    • @AdamGdoesFPV
      @AdamGdoesFPV  3 года назад +2

      You know the funny thing is it’s designed to go with water and that’s what the instructions say to use... I learnt to use it with PVA many years ago and now I’ve completely forgotten the benefit 🤣🤣 just became habit. The black dye would have been a nice idea 👍🏻

    That irks me that you cant get out of launch mode by changing flight modes. In my eyes that is a ballsup by the devs if true. In ardupilot you can change flight mode to get out of auto launch mode as you should be able to. i keep trying to find reasons to come back to inav but this issue has postponed that move.

    • @AdamGdoesFPV
      @AdamGdoesFPV  3 года назад

      I believe the reason you cannot change to manual mode for example is that when you exit auto launch from idle throttle it will go to stick level throttle. So if you use a low idle like 15%, you push the stick up to 100% for post launch throttle, they don’t want knocking a stick to allow it to shoot up to 100% unintentionally. Not ideal but now I know how to regain control it won’t be an issue again, I’m just glad I found out now on a lower cost model and I didn’t lose it. Luckily it went in a circle rather than straight 😳 thanks for watching 😊

      So far Crossfire seems pretty solid with a perfect link out to 5km on just 500mw... but then again that should be the case. I love Crossfire for it's usability and appearance... but I won't make a judgement on it's ability during a more challenging flight just yet. I'm tempted to put 1.3 on this wing but it doesn't exactly lend itself to 1.3g CP antennas... I'll have a think. One thing is for sure, I will be combining CF and 1.3 soon for a low river run flight.
