Gee, the raised letters on the black plastic Pentair 150119 union couplings I just bought say they're ABS. Just because YOUR black plastic fittings might be CPVC doesn't mean ALL black plastic fittings are.
Helpful video. Would you never use ABS with pools. My pool is a soft sided above ground pool. Id like to add a 3 way valve after my sand filter so I can split the water back to my pool and to my solar heat mat. I need to create a custom fitting to come off the sand filter and go to the valve. I know you mentioned abs is not used for a pressure rated system. In the way I have described, you would absolutely not used ABS? Thanks
I have broken black cpvc coupling same as shown at 0:08. Any way to remove the broken black cpvc coupling while preserving the white PVC pipe which is on the inside?
Thank you Steve!

Another great, informative video. I was wondering... Do you use primer just as you would with a regular PVC fitting?
Yes I use primer for any pressure connection including CPVC even though these black fittings definitely will make your clear primer gray!
I hate primer, it makes a mess 😭
CPVC is chlorinated rated type of pvc.
