I love how you emphasize the importance of building a community. It's so easy to get caught up in the hustle, but it's clear that genuine connections are key to long-term success.
I am so happy for your first client design! It looks so good! You've given me a lot to think about because I've been wanting more community myself and been a little scared to put myself out there, but this video really helped, so thank you😊
Congrats on experiencing your designs in the wild, and watching people interact with it. 🎉 I can relate to the networking. Just like you said try to make authentic connections based on pure curiosity and genuine interest in the other person and their craft, business, product is the best way to network. I also recently learned about the concept / rule of plus-minus-equal which apparently some boxers use in their training to help them to keep learning and know how well they are progressing whilst keeping any hubris in check. creatives can apply this to the people you surround yourself with. If you have someone you look up to which you can learn from (the plus), someone that is on the same path but maybe a step or two behind you (the minus) and an equal you can share your experiences with (the equal). It can help to know where you are coming from, where you are now and where you are heading. And also allows you to teach, reflect, exchange and get inspired. Exited to see where your journey is going next! Have a great week!
Wow I had no idea about the rule of plus-minus-equal but it makes a lot of sense. It's very cool and insightful! It's nice to be able to have this channel because it can reach all kinds of creatives in different stages and can apply this concept 😊
Wow congrats on your first client! I remember how it felt when I got mine, it was amazing. I never knew that kind of pop-up existed in the Netherlands, I guess I just have to reach out more. Also I do love seeing the design process, it is pretty satisfying to see the drawings come to life haha
just found your channel im also just starting as a freelancer its so nice to see someone share the highs and lows. I think it's so important to be transparent with our work and lifestyle! keep it up girl!!!
I am loving it all of on your Arts work and keeps it up with a Good Works and keep it going my love it's up too you and all on your friends and our families!
I also created a youtube channel, so I can talk about design, because I just love it that much! I find it also very helpful to watch other creators and engaging with them through the comments, because i can see what they are doing right/wrong, everyone can teach you something and that's why youtube is great for a community!
Congratulations on creating your own youtube channel! It's not an easy feat! Yes, I love that about youtube as well, it's so cool to be able to have that access that you wouldnt necessarily have locally 🥹
I've been pushing myself out more on Discord groups and trying to message more in the casual chats because who wants to talk about work all the time😪 I've heard doing collabs with other artists is a great way to meet people and know how they work.
Hey! It’s great that you got to design something which is out there! I actually was thinking the same about building an art community, I am soon starting a discord channel where in all creatives can just hop on and work together
Thank you! 🤩 Yes, I think that I eventually will. I guess I'm starting locally and trying to focus on content creating on youtube now. When there is more demand for making a place (maybe discord?) then I will do so!
I’m a newly graphic designer and can’t wait to start but I’m not too sure how to get jobs and or which jobs will fit for my skills which are branding, illustration and ad creatives. Any tips on how to start with these skills???
Oh that's very interesting, I'll be thinking about this question because that's definitely a tough one and I have asked myself this before, perhaps I'll even make a video out of it. Thank you for your comment!
Are you building your site with Framer? Because it's really easy for a designer to build a site on this platform. And congratulations on your first client :)

Yes! I think that it's really the whole point isn't it 🙂 being fulfilled by the relationships around you and being able to get work from it as well!

Thank you! You should put yourself out there if you wish! You have nothing to lose, really

Yeah absolutely! Maybe you could even find someone locally (such as friends) instead of online if you don't find that working out for you just yet
