Wow, what an old beauty! Watched a couple guys fire up an old Detroit powered Terex loader some years ago. They didn't check the motor first and were they surprised when it took off and ran away! Boy Wily, you are brave working around that old iron with no gloves on, I always wear gloves to avoid cutting my hands. Thanks for another great video and always be safe.
Hello Wily Jacob and Jeb excellent video beautiful seeing that old iron come awake Jacob Jeb you guys are making memories for the rest your lives of working and having fun with your father time flies by to fast take it slow learn enjoy thank you ken
Starts and runs like a dream!! No juice needed, and barely any smoke. Sounds like a happy engine and great for someone! By the way, everyone knows more throttle is UP! LOL!
Youre teaching those young guys some life skills. They are started on their journey. Passing on your knowledge is a good thing. Having fun while you do it is great. A friend who gives tools is fantastic.
Another great video, no question it DID start … it was like it wanted to run/work, somebody put it to work!!!!. Especially cool to be on site, .. keep on keeping on.. blessings to you and yours
Thanks for the video Wiley and boys. Can remember those big old heavy duty loaders. Nice work on getting it running so quickly. Good to have the boys helping. Hope you come out ok on it. The Iowa farm boy. Steve.
That looks like my Makita saw! I love that little saw. Super handy! I use it a lot more than my gas saws. Those old Michigan’s were great machines in the day. Definitely built for the long haul…
@@DontbeWily I have noticed that if the equipment isn’t making oil that’s when it might never run but you still go right at it with your boys I love that I used to do the same with my father and it touches my heart I miss my dad a lot but seeing you guys it brings back memories ♥️♥️👍
I just can't believe that the things that you come across sometimes it reminds me of when I was growing up as a young man that you know a lot of the stuff that was in existence you know and you see it and it kind of makes you flash back to your younger days and you start to get those old-time memories in your head
@@DontbeWily I could imagine back in those days you know with the RUclips video You know maybe it would have made things easier for a lot of people Back then but the thing of it is back then we relied on our knowledge that we were raised with and what we were taught with back then And that's how we grew up Have the knowledge that we carry with us now every day
It's always my pleasure to be watching Wiley you know it's awesome to see what knowledge you pass on to your child and the knowledge that you have to fix these machines up and try your best effort to do it to try to help other people
❤ awesome your inspiration to others that brings good knowledge of machinery to use old machines that will last along time as long as there taken care of ❤
Those things are cool but dangerous old beasts . My step dad and his brother owned them when they were almost new machines . Those beasts never had brakes They used to drive them backwards on the highway because you can't drive them forward in high range . The rear steering is really dangerous at high speed . I'm glad someone fired it up and it started like a brand new engine . There is one near me and I have thought about buying it but I don't need it . And a Detroit will always start , but sometimes you have to tinker with them a bit . This man knows what he is doing , you always check the rack and injectors before you start them . I've owned a newer one , a 175 C and a 125 A before .
I`ve run a newer michigan loader some around a rock quarry , it had a 6V detroit with a material bucket , it was previously used to feed a pugmill (mixes crushed stone and concrete for a base under the highway) on a 4-lane interstate highway job , corridor G . A large grade leveling machine puts the pug down dry . They probably do it different now days .
What a genuine man love watching him,his skills it's awesome. I don't understand why people use battery operated chainsaws ? My ide is gas only ,more power.. because if you dont have a charger for your battery you is done lol
Wiley yanking on the battery cable made me laugh so hard for some reason 😂😂😂 I was always taught to be so gentle and easy with anything electrical and there he is yanking with all his might 😄 alright the batteries are in load her with either and keep the children back !!!! Hahahahaha
I rebuilt a 275A in high school , 120 Cummings. Don't knock rear wheel steer less likely to flip. 471 are nice little engines ,the smallest of the 71 series I have ever seen was a 2-71 in a small Michigan crane. I would like it but it's to big for my needs.
Just inherited one just like this. Sitting covered in an out building. Hasn't been started in at least the last 10-11 years probably longer. Have a guy that is suppose to come get it after the 1st of the year. Selling it to him for $800

There was a 275A (identical in design as that 175A) that was up for sale near me a year ago, and it ran and operated fine. Asking price was 6K Canadian, loader sold, no idea what the owner actually got for it.
The 275b had a 12 ton bucket on however it would of very easily managed a larger bucket it with a good operaitor keep a fleet of 50 ton dumpers going on a 12 hour shift
Are you gonna break this machine down for parts and scrap? I hope not! Id love to have an old rigid frame loader just to keep around the yard. When I was young, my uncle ran his own earth moving business with a Hough rigid frame machine. Fond memories to see one of these!
I have a 1976 Dodge. Camper. It will not start. It ran good but it just stop. I'm so Not mechanically inclined. At all. I'm in ohio. And I would love to get it back it was my dad's.
