That little girl is going to be steeped in Gallic music by the time she becomes an adult. He's hoping she carries on the glorious tradition, generation to generation.
Thank you! Will I ever see the Highlands? Will I ever visit Islay? Will I ever breathe .... .... the wonderful scent of blooming heather? Will I ever feel being free ..... .... and roam your natures beauties, Scotland? Slainte mha, Laphroaig!
I saw her husband Eamon live with Danu in Davis California several years ago. He was a wonderful story teller and great musician. It is heartwarming to see such a beautiful, talented and happy family. I wish them the best of luck for the future.
Though Duncan (the fiddle player) isn't a relative is actually Wolfstones fiddle player too, he used to be with Ivan Drever Wolfstones former lead singer, he partly forms a duo with Ivan, whom I have personally met is Duncan, probably the most phenomenal celtic music fiddle player across the world without any doubts from me personally.
This beautifully simple performance is made perfect by the babe in arms. What tasteful accompaniment and videoing. I hope you are so happy, Julie, you deserve it. Your voice is pure and from the heart.
Julie is such a National treasure. Our modern world is rotting to the core in the West. Its fantastic women like Julie who our young generation should be guided towards as role models. A proud loving mother, darling wife and talented hard worker with a love of her culture and heritage. Instead our young women are spoon fed Miley Cyrus and the Kardasians.
Barry Bignut A great point. We are being bombarded with poison and people take to it because it appears captivating. This is as wholesome as it gets hence why it is so beautiful.
Congratulations to Pixar/Disney for their movie "Brave" -- featuring songs by Julie Fowlis -- being nominated today by the Academy Awards for best animated movie.
My love is on the high seas One fine evening at the beginning of May when the bats were in the sky I heard a young girl who was tearful sing in the shade of the green branches. The sun was setting on the sea and no star had risen into the sky when the maiden sang sadly "My love is on the high seas". The night-time dew began to come down and its drops gently bent the flowers, The wind blew a flagrant breeze, life and refreshment to every meadow. The girl tuned the melody of her song soft and sweet like the dew in June and this chorus kept on coming up: "My love is on the high seas" The day got dark and the stars shone, the moon sailed through the clouds of the sky. The maiden sat, distressed by sorrow, with no desire for sleep or rest. I drew close to this wonderful young woman who was singing about her love who had sailed overseas. Oh, her sad plaintive call was sweet-sounding: "My love is on the high seas". By this music I was willingly drawn close to the brown-haired girl with warm eyes as she prayed to the Lord "protect my love on the high seas". Her heart was breaking with love when I took her by the hand "be away from tears, your love is saved, I came safely across the high seas". Simply beautiful. The nusic, the scene, everything. The child is very, very, lucky to grow up surrounded like this. Heritage , music, good parents, a sense of belonging. It's womderful to see happy people doing what they do. Here's to you..
The feeling like that I got from watching the Outlaw King on Netflix (actually Robert I's mother Isobella Huntingdon was a descendant of the Gaels so there's every possibility he would have spoken not only Norman French mostly, but then Latin (since all historical records were written in Latin of course back then as well as Gáidhlig/Gaelic and English (his father having fought actually with Edward I. Actually a descendant myself of that very Clan (hence using the coat of arms as my photo).
My favourite rendition of this song was the one they performed at Dunfermline Abbey...until now! This is as about as beautiful as it can get. Simply heavenly.
Totally unexpected, a very beautiful and precious surprise: a very dear friend of mine drew my attention to this heart warming and tender love song, while he is far away too, but knowing that we remain bound together in Gaelic music
Technically speaking there's 3 variations (more broadly speaking rather) of the Gaelic language, it's more a family of languages. Scots being Gáidhlig (thus no e to change the sound of the a). Irish Gaelige) Middle Irish - Manx or Gaelg.
Beautiful little girl! Apparently my grandmother would sing these songs to my mother and aunt and uncle when they were little. We now native American in the mix, so I hope my niece sings both types of songs to my little grand neice. So wonderful.
What real talent looks like, also I mean you want to hear the likes of Griogal Cridhe if you think that's tough ruclips.net/video/WV7TPzNOuGk/видео.html (Alba being Scotlands Gáidhlig name like Éireann in Ireland being the É in RTÉ Irelands equivalent of the BBC Eirinn in Scotland being the same) the most famous Gáidhlig poem that comes from ever written this being about it ruclips.net/video/ImQzmvCv5fQ/видео.html though this isn't sad ruclips.net/video/B-NozsHt7Y0/видео.html

I love that the wee bairn sleeps through the lulaby. God bless ye!
there's 5 minutes of everything we must fight for, right here.
Her little one is so lucky that she gets Gaelic lullaby songs. I think this language is really great for singing.
That little girl is going to be steeped in Gallic music by the time she becomes an adult. He's hoping she carries on the glorious tradition, generation to generation.

This is LIfe in a video, in a home, in a song, in their hearts and now in us. Sheldon Firem
Couldn't find this sheet music anywhere so I transcribed it and arranged it myself for Celtic harp. Julie's version is an inspiration

She dedicates her whole life to the preservation and continuation of the culture of her people. She's a world treasure, my friend.
I could fall in love with her on her voice alone. Add her beauty, and I’m head over heels.
Just drank a bit and her voice with the Gaelic words and the way she sang to her child just made me weepy for real.
I am actually supposed to be somewhere right now.. somewhere awesome, if I have to be honest... but instead, I'll hit replay...ONE more time
you dont have to be honest
Oh Jesus, that bought tears to my eyes. When my young folk were just babies, I would play my small pipes to lull them down to slumber.
