the only downside is now people think if they complain enough they will get whatever they want from entertainment studios which is so annoying but other then that love that we got this franchise going
@cyanmage1 Yeah, it is, but I do think it should have also been a lesson to lean into the aspects of the original stuff (i.e. Fallout, Sonic) vs going "hmmmm we'll do our own thing because we just want the name for marketing" (*cough cough* Halo Paramount *cough cough*)
I'd add the bonus win that the poster credits the three main VAs after the first film only credited the live action stars. Even if it's just so they could put Idris' name on there, it's still very cool to see Colleen's name on the poster of a big Hollywood film.
I want to give a special shoutout to the animators of these movies. The people in charge of this movie listened to all that negative feedback about the original Sonic design in the trailers, and they took the time and effort to give us character designs and animations that exceeded all our expectations. Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles all looked amazing, and from what I’ve seen in the previews, they nailed it again with Shadow. In a world where fan feedback is often ignored, they listened and delivered something that is now universally accepted and beloved. Thank you to all the hardworking animators who went back through the film and gave us an amazing experience!!
I love how this version of Sonic can relate more with Tails over feeling alone for being an outcast. One of the best changes while adapting the video game into a film.
Man thank you for pointing 8:15 out theres so many details. The TailsTube reminder is probably the one Im most surprised by. For context thats a little thing that has been done on the Sonic Social media page. Just some fun light stories and lore drops done from the perspective of Tails livestreaming with a V-tuber setup. Coleen and the other series VA's get all in with it. I'm actually shocked that its referenced in the movie.
This movie wasn't the slam dunk that its predecessor was, but it's still damn impressive that any "The Sonic Movie" can not suck. I'm just so happy to live in a world where children's media can be good, unapologetic, and still appealing to all ages.
What a coincidence. My friends and I just got out of the third film not long before this dropped. STH3 was amazing and loved pretty much every minute of it. The most exciting cinema experience I’ve had since probably No Way Home. Keanu is fantastic and Jim Carrey is once again brilliant with a surprisingly emotion arc. The third act is insane in all the best possible ways. The moment Junkie XL’s incredible Live and Learn remix played, I was both on the verge of tears and singing along. Anyone else agree?
God damn has it been that long?! Pray to CinemaWins to please put this guy out of his misery! (Fr tho, Dead Mans Chest is fantastic and is severely overdue, as is At Worlds End)
To me, one of the biggest wins of the Sonic movies was hiring a voice actor associated with voicing a titular character to reprise their role in live action with Tails, rather than just slap on another big name celebrity. VA's in animation and game mediums are very skilled, and they're perfect roles when the character is done in CGI.
I'll always be glad they nailed down a great personality for Sonic, in thst he's basically a kid who does all the cool things he saw people do in movies and comics as a way to try and make friends (and hide his insecurities)
You know, Whiplash would be a great movie to see over the holiday break. So full of warmth and joy, it'll really blend in with the holiday spirit.... Yes this is me kindly continuing to ask for a Whiplash video someday haha. Lov the vids, always happy to hear from ya. Can't wait for more next year and enjoy your break.
That movie really tickled all my happy bones as a Sonic fan. It might've had the best portrayal of Tails and Knuckles outside of games, some many great needle drops so many fantastic action scenes and witty dialogues. Also, it actually made me feel sorry for Rachel, even though I hated her in the first movie. But the whole wedding setup and aftermath were one of the funniest moment for me. So hyped for Sonic 3!
You (probably) know I waited so long for this. Glad it’s finally here, really happy that this released minutes after I came back from watching Sonic 3.
Y'know, no matter how much I like a movie, you always manage to point out something good that I missed. Like the epic wide shots here. It didn't even register they were doing that. *ding*
If you look closely at 11:49, the plane flying by the wedding is the original Tornado biplane from Sonic 2. Down to the red and white design of the propeller plane and underneath the plane wing it says "Sonic" in reference to in-game canon that Sonic owns the Tornado Mk1.
7:40 literally, I forgot about this scene so when Marsden flexed I outloud just screamed daaamn, and yep you gave it a win soon after. Those arms are now my goal.
The film is of course really enjoyable but I am thankful for the third movie for making sure that one of the last quotes in Jim Carrey's career was not 'okay, we're not friends'
“It’s Tricky” will always be associated with the SSX Tricky snowboarding game for me so Sonic using the song was just childhood love on childhood love.
18:35 I sincerely think it's because video games and comic nerds of the 90s are now just... in their 40s. It's just another form of media we enjoy, not something that has this label of being only for children.
When I had first seen the trailer, I didn't like the idea of Knuckles starting as a villain, and yes I know he did in the games, but I had only played the OG and Riders onward, so I never really saw Knuckles as a villain, but I am excited to see what route they take with Shadow, hoping to get some Shadow The Hedgehog (I played it on PS2 forever ago) game references
Not winning the Red, Blue & Gold streaks as they run through the town before splitting up, is a disappointment. Having played the crap out of Sonic Heroes as a kid, seeing the trio running together was so nostalgic. At least Sonic Riders got a shoutout tho
He did not mention the Ugandan Knuckles reference and I am upset, since it continues the tradition of putting a Sonic meme in the movie •Very Specifically said to Knuckles• “From a little blue menace on a planet called Earth. I’d be happy to *show you the way* ” Subtle enough that most people wouldn’t notice but noticeable enough that the people who know the meme would catch it, phenomenal!
Because you said James Marsden is underrated comedic actor made me think of his role in Chris Rocks Death at a Funeral. If I ain’t thinking of him as cyclops it’s that role.😂
Seeing Super Sonic fight Eggman reminded me that the final blow is a reference to Sonic '06, of all things. Which makes a certain reference the Sonic 3 movie makes to a specific game a little bit more sensical. Still weird, tho
The Third Movie surpassed the second one, no contest, don’t get me wrong, all Three are great in their own way, but the Third is quite possibly the greatest yet! Also one thing you neglected to mention is that the exploding Sewer line is an homage to the opening to Sonic Adventure.
It's crazy how we went from what should have been a massive flop of a film to an unprecedented success of a franchise with one redesign
And thank god that they did, Sonic fans are eating well atm 🫡
The animators really did a phenomenal job with these films, and we got a series that diehard and casual fans alike love.
the only downside is now people think if they complain enough they will get whatever they want from entertainment studios which is so annoying but other then that love that we got this franchise going
I think it was all a marketing ploy.
Ah man, you forgot to add a win for the Ugandan Knuckles reference for when Eggman says to Knuckles, "I can show you de way!"
I'd add the bonus win that the poster credits the three main VAs after the first film only credited the live action stars. Even if it's just so they could put Idris' name on there, it's still very cool to see Colleen's name on the poster of a big Hollywood film.
i so proud of colleen's name on a hollywood film

And they upped the ante with Sonic 3's (end credits) designs.
Fun fact, the goofy run Robotnik does in the end credits is the same run he has in the 16-bit games lol.
Tail's design in this movie is adorable
I knew you guys were gonna make this! When the third movie came out digitally, review it right away! I hear it's awesome!
It's peak
its the best of the three movies :D
I love how this version of Sonic can relate more with Tails over feeling alone for being an outcast. One of the best changes while adapting the video game into a film.

2:23 Funny since Ben Schwartz did the voice of Leonardo in Rise of The TMNT
and randy cunningham!! :D his "hoo boy"s are a homage to the character cos it was his first voice acting role
Well, here's to waiting 2 and 1/2 years for your EGA Sonic The Hedgehog 3 lol
Watched Sonic 3 yesterday, and I fell off my seat when I realized that Walters was the priest
I'm really excited to see Shadow in action tomorrow morning. I haven't spoiled myself yet, and I want to keep it that way.
What a coincidence. My friends and I just got out of the third film not long before this dropped. STH3 was amazing and loved pretty much every minute of it. I love your enthusiasm for this franchise. I can't wait to see you review the third movie.
HE'S BACK!!!
2:23 Funny, since Ben Schwartz also did the voice of Leonardo in Rise of the TMNT
I dressed as Robotnik to my 5pm Thursday showing of the third film (first showing of the night). It was awesome!
Finally!!!!! Thank you so much for finally doing my request. This makes me so happy. 🥰
Week 208 of asking for Everything Great About Dead Man's Chest (4 Years!)
God damn has it been that long?! Pray to CinemaWins to please put this guy out of his misery! (Fr tho, Dead Mans Chest is fantastic and is severely overdue, as is At Worlds End)
Sonic 3 best movie of the year!
Jim Carrey: "So nice when diabolical evil lives up to the hype!"
I've been waiting for this...LET'S GET IN THERE!!
Wait wrong franchise.
I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS!!
Still a great franchise!
13:05
I gotta say, i already respected you. but hearing you reference operation paperclip of all things. Extra respect
Yes, Sonic 2! One of my favorite movies, coming from a Sonic fan.
And am still requesting for you to do The Peanuts Movie.
I love this movie can’t wait to watch the 3rd one for my birthday
3:13 its "Sanic" sitting on the chair... lol
Just watched Sonic 3...
ITS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!
Of course you start with the villain it’s like his song says “The story begins with whose gonna win!”
10:21 Tamamo No mae is what you should be questing for.
I still can’t believe we gotten a sonic and venom trilogy
Everything Great about The Wild Robot.
I second that!
Yes! I've been waiting for that video for a bit now
I'll always be glad they nailed down a great personality for Sonic, in thst he's basically a kid who does all the cool things he saw people do in movies and comics as a way to try and make friends (and hide his insecurities)

19:05 this scene where they run side by side just rams sonic heroes gameplay into my head
That movie really tickled all my happy bones as a Sonic fan. It might've had the best portrayal of Tails and Knuckles outside of games, some many great needle drops so many fantastic action scenes and witty dialogues. You (probably) know I waited so long for this. Glad it’s finally here, really happy that this released minutes after I came back from watching Sonic 3.
How did " Ah, my victory chariot!' not make it in?
Y'know, no matter how much I like a movie, you always manage to point out something good that I missed. Like the epic wide shots here. It didn't even register they were doing that.
*ding*
YES! I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE, LETS GOOOOO!!
I just saw this movie earlier this month to prepare for 3. I've been waiting for this. Thank you.
If you look closely at 11:49, the plane flying by the wedding is the original Tornado biplane from Sonic 2. Down to the red and white design of the propeller plane and underneath the plane wing it says "Sonic" in reference to in-game canon that Sonic owns the Tornado Mk1.

YAAAAY I'm so glad you looked at this one! I've been waitinggggggg
Now we need you to cover the Knuckles show
Perfect quick refresher of last movie before I see the third today
12:06 - I used to have the "end of act 1" melody from Sonic 2 as my text message sound, I can tell you that it didn't help me make any friends.
“It’s Tricky” will always be associated with the SSX Tricky snowboarding game for me so Sonic using the song was just childhood love on childhood love.
16:13 I remember watching this going "HE'S USING THE BOUNCE BRACELET!"
7:39 bro, those really are impressive! 😮
18:35
I sincerely think it's because video games and comic nerds of the 90s are now just... in their 40s.
It's just another form of media we enjoy, not something that has this label of being only for children.
I cannot WAIT for a cinemawins video on Sonic 3
I've been waiting for this one for so long
FINALLY
The Knuckles show about Wade and Knuckles bonding is so good.
I know it's kinda old but can you do one vid for Cars 2? Loved that movie
Obligatory reminder for Eric (and anyone else reading who needs it) to finish all the Yakuzas
I BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE
When I had first seen the trailer, I didn't like the idea of Knuckles starting as a villain, and yes I know he did in the games, but I had only played the OG and Riders onward, so I never really saw Knuckles as a villain, but I am excited to see what route they take with Shadow, hoping to get some Shadow The Hedgehog (I played it on PS2 forever ago) game references
I’ve always been wondering why we don’t have this yet but glad you’ve done it. Can’t for the other pirates movies
I can’t believe you didn’t Win Sonic calling Tom “Dad”.
Wade is misunderstood and underrated.
Not winning the Red, Blue & Gold streaks as they run through the town before splitting up, is a disappointment. Having played the crap out of Sonic Heroes as a kid, seeing the trio running together was so nostalgic. At least Sonic Riders got a shoutout tho
Yayyyyy, you did the movie! Wooo
He did not mention the Ugandan Knuckles reference and I am upset, since it continues the tradition of putting a Sonic meme in the movie
•Very Specifically said to Knuckles•
“From a little blue menace on a planet called Earth. I’d be happy to *show you the way* ”

OH YEAH, I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS 🎉
Because you said James Marsden is underrated comedic actor made me think of his role in Chris Rocks Death at a Funeral. If I ain’t thinking of him as cyclops it’s that role.😂
Wow😊 what perfect timing, right as Sonic The Hedgehog 3 just came out yesterday
One of my favorites
I'VE WAITED SO LONG FOR THIS AAGHHHH 🗣🗣🗣

The Toxic Cave music from Sonic Spinball was dope.
I was waiting for this one!
Metal Overlord in movie form would so HARD.
Please do Pacific Rim Uprising!
Seeing Super Sonic fight Eggman reminded me that the final blow is a reference to Sonic '06, of all things. Which makes a certain reference the Sonic 3 movie makes to a specific game a little bit more sensical. Still weird, tho
First movie of 2025 should be godzilla minus one!
And nobody is going to address the fact that Ronotnik was sent to the Mushroom Kingdom and not a single Italian plumber joke was made?
Again, Winter Soldier works because there's snow and Knuckles was brainwashed.
Sonic fans are eating GOOD. Happy for y'all.
This is another movie that absolutely should have bombed and instead they nailed it. Can't wait to see Sonic 3 later!
I’m excited for Sonic 3
Took you guys long enough. Can't wait for Sonic 3!
FINALLYYY LETSS GOO
1HR TOO
The Third Movie surpassed the second one, no contest, don’t get me wrong, all Three are great in their own way, but the Third is quite possibly the greatest yet!
Also one thing you neglected to mention is that the exploding Sewer line is an homage to the opening to Sonic Adventure.
