The comic you didn't know the name or artist was Yoshikazu Yasuhiko's Rebel Sword. It was published by Dark Horse in 1994.

The one at 17:30, for those of you who are looking for a time stamp.
Ed, Yasuhiko isn’t an affiliate of Nagai as far as I know BUT is a huge figure in the world of mecha anime as he’s the original character designer for Mobile Suit Gundam!
He also does a ton of very lush historical epics such as the story of Joan of Arc and (perhaps most controversially) Jesus. Very interesting creator, would love to see a full vid on him!

Yas is a LEGEND! Gundam heads, especially those who collect the records, know his work well... or if they got Gundam Origin.

Yasuhiko was also the character designer for the original Gundam anime series. I was intro to Yasuhiko thru his Venus War anime which was one of the first official English translated releases in the 90's. Yoshikazu Yasuhiko and Haruhiko Mikimoto were two manga/anime pioneers who created the old school anime style when it was first introduced into USA, Unfortunately very few of their manga work was ever translated into English.

Unfortunately it's been disclosed today that Buichi Terasawa (Cobra's mangaka) has passed away at 68.

While Tar-chan does start out as a raunchy comedy, it shifts gears into a full-on battle manga about halfway through and it's genuinely great. Tar-chan participates in fighting tournaments, he goes up against vampires, cyborgs, even genetic clones of himself. Absolute insanity.

16:41 That's Yas, aka Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, aka Mobile Suit Gundam animation/character director, mangaka of TON of classics, and the first mangaka to have an episode of Manben to be featured to audiences outside of Japan with English subtitles and narrator dubs.
I'm a Gundam head with a bunch of albums featuring his art, so I caught that at a glance.

"クルドの星(Kurd no Hoshi) " is done by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko who is famous for first series of Mobile Suit Gundam(As character designer and animation director). It's story about Kurd-Japanese boy battling in Kurdistan against Turkish army but there are much Sci-Fi element to it in later part.

Sadly Buichi Terasawa passed away on Friday the 8th sep. It'd be cool if you did an episode on his work. To get more people to appreciate his stuff. I always liked Midnight eye, his take on Journey to the West.

I love the coverage you guys give manga, but in answer to your call for more suggestions I would like to see more coverage of European comics (Spain, Italy, Belgium) as well as some coverage of S. American comics. There are some fantastic westerns, SF and adventure comics as well as several crime comics like Precinct 56. YOU HAVE YET TO SCRATCH THE SURFACE! 😄
