Got7 is another anomaly in kpop because it is one of the few groups who was able to leave their company and remain together. they left jyp (one of the big 3) in 2021 and all started working on solo careers and their leader (shoutout to jayb) put his career on hold to study a way of coming to an agreement with the company to give them ownership of their name and i think their discography as well but im not sure on that one. a lot of people didn't believe they'd be back (kind of like the hiatus video on one direction) but they kept their promise and came back on may 2022 with an album, again putting all solo schedules on hold for a month and it seems they'll be releasing something this year as well before some members enlist. fun fact: they are probably the closest kpop group to bts. the members are friends but private about it. i honestly love got7, i think they have good music and i respect them as artists and people. you should check them out and their solo because some of them are r&b/hip hop sounding. one of my favorite songs in general is DIVE by one of the members Jinyoung. great track
As an ARMY, I love how accessible got7 is compared to many groups in kpop. Even in their early days the reality shows they attended weren't the typical label orchestrated types that give you barely any insight more than what an idol is expected to give. They felt far more human, which meant a big deal to me cause I did not like the industrial 'idol' image that took away the human aspect (which clearly why I got into bts cause their artistry was backed by the human personality that one can witness from their predebut vlogs).
Ps. Jackson's boy crushing over namjoon adorably was a fun starter😂 but back to got7, their current solo works are fire fire:)

Lol in the bowels is *Tteokbokki*
it's a Korean rice cake, a food made from gluttonous rice that's pounded until it's almost like a dough and them it's rolled into thin cylinders and cut and then cooked . And served in a spicy sauce. Commonly you'll see things like daikon radishes and fishcakes made with it as well as with or without cheese. You don't really see eggs in Tteokbokki that often but I've seen some people do it.
They have different levels of spiciness but it's really good

I am gonna be honest, I had a few groups in the past that were misstreated by their company that said that after their contracts end they will still be a group. And none of them ever made a comeback as a full group. So when GOT7 said that I didn't even consider them telling the truth especially since out of 7 members 3 aren't even Korean (BamBam - Thailand, Jackson - China, Mark - LA). The most was me hoping to maybe get some unit songs (Jaebum and Jinyoung did a duet album while in GOT7 and Jaebum and Yugyeom did a duet album while in GOT7). Especially because members like Jackson already had a strong solo career for years and Jinyoung was really getting famous as an actor. So saying I was shocked when they actually announced their new album with an actual release date is an understatment.
Like i said: that has never been done before in kpop
BUT there was a famous 2 generation group called Beast who after their contracts expired out of 6 members 1 left and the other 5 members created their own entertaiment company. And all 5 members made a comeback under the name Highlight. And this is the important part. Their company Cube was the one who owned the name Beast and their songs. So not only did they have to start from scratch with their own company but also with a completly different name.
Which is why i was even more surprised that not only was GOT7 actually having a comeback, but that they were doing it under their own name that should have belonged to JYP (one of Big3). Now I am not sure of the whole legality and what the members had to do for the right of their group name (since I only really keep up with BTS and TXT in detail). But I heard people say that it was their leader Jaebum (I think he is promoting as JayB now.. probably.. he used to be called just JB) who made that happen.
I do remember Jaebum (and other members of GOT7) saying (years ago) how he would write and produce a song for GOT7 but it would get rejected by JYP. And it was always a fight with their company to have them chose their own songs rather than JYP songs. So I am happy they have that freedom now
And hopefully they now made the path for other groups to leave their company and still keep their group name and keep promoting as a group (two girl groups are currently in a legal battle with their own companies over getting their contracts terminated.. but that is again a different story since GOT7 did complete their contracts while these two girl groups havent. And also from what I have seen the two girl groups simply want to be free from their companies and dont really have any plans to keep being a group or even be in the industry)
Yes, do check out BamBam's solo stuff! He performed at the Chase Center for Golden State Warriors earlier last year, debuting the single Wheels Up.
RiBBon was his first album (mini) and B second - I'm thinking Ribbon, Who Are You and Ride Or Die for you to have a sampling of his music 💚
GOT7 is 🔥 but this is coming from a real stan so take it with a grain of salt lol. Their discography is unmatched; their friendship and commitment to the group is part of the success, imo.
For GOT7 recs, I'd go with You Calling My Name (seen in this video), Not By The Moon and Teenager 💚
3:00,, well it's slowly getting here,, step by step,, lately senior idols (debuted 10yrs ago or later) are getting married and having children and are still active, lots of wedding from former idols last year,,, I just want to be positive and let them leave and have life, Idols are human too

I wholeheartedly recommend Korean Englishman. They are pretty great and know a lot of Korean food as well as the language. One of them is fluent in Korean. I reccomend that you watch one of their series on their channel.

Bambam along with his co-member, Yugyeom, are good friends with BTS' Jungkook and other kpop idols who were born in 1997.
Apart from Bambam, Jackson is very close to RM and V (not sure if it's V or Suga really) once contacted Mark Tuan. They were all GOT7 members.
Out of all kpop groups, I think GOT7 is the closest to BTS.
Korea Englishman/Jolly are funny, and I really like their adventures they get into (they recently came to the states and ate food in the South). When you start watching BTS, you should watch them reacting to "Idol" and "On" with a priest.

If you want to understand the food better, you could watch korean englishmen with western guest. Because then they explain what the food is. As westerners don't know it, but people that are from korea or are in korea for long time know it, so they don't explain it like in this video.
