A longtime friend just passed away and I realized a lot about growing up Gen X. My oh my. At least we tried to do something good with the messy culture we inherited. This video tries to blame the parents but the song tells a more honest truth.
Wishes and stars!,, oh I hope Harper can read this… we live two doors down from his mom here in Nashville. We are sure to play this beautiful song every time she comes over for dinner! Love to you Harper! A most awesome song…brings us all such joy. Your mama Peggy is sure proud of you🥰
LOVE this song, so glad to be introduced to this artist. And once I realized he is Paul Simon's son, I was like DUH, sounds a lot like him. Very talented!!
Amazing song/music! I just read about Harper today, in a 'Rolling Stone' interview about his father from earlier this year. I'm really digging the 'RUclips' vids, and methinks I am going to buy his latest CD tomorrow. Seriously, nice stuff Harper (if you happen to be reading this)!
Wow, he does sound a lot like Simon & Garfukel's old stuff. I'd have thought this was an album track from the late 60's or some hit I've never heard before.
Omg that's it! Paul Simon's son- thankyou! Divine on my heart strings... ❤️ I walked into Simon & Garfunkel in Sandiego 19 years ago & his voice does same Transcendental thing to my being. Must see him!
Just wondering why there's no acknowledgement of the original writer of this (poem) - Ben Okri? I've just heard him read it in an interview - the word Wishes has been substituted for Fishes in the original. Not sure if any other changes, but it sounds pretty much word for word.
I wonder. Ben Okri's 'Wild' (which features More Fishes than Stars) was published in 2012. This was uploaded in 2010. I wonder if they know each other?
They wrote it together... kind of. The song is different than the poem but you're right the poem did come first. Here's an excerpt from interview between Mike Ragogna (HuffingtonPost) and Harper... Harper: I don’t really remember asking him, but I asked if he would give me a poem, and if he would be interested in hearing how I adapted it. He gave me that poem. The poem is rewritten, some of the lines are mine.
I love this song but there’s definitely more stars than wishes. There are an estimated 200 billion trillion stars. There are only 7 billion people on the planet. That means each person needs an average of 28 trillion wishes. Thats impossible to even think of 28 trillion in a human lifetime. Just saying.
Sorry just have to say, this is sooo annoying. The chorus is sooo miserable, would people really be going mad for this song if it wasn't Paul Simons son? We've already had "that" voice for goodness knows how long with his dad, do we really need that hairy fairy voice all over again? Whenever it comes on the radio i cringe and turn it off quick.
Nice song. Can't believe I missed this in 14 years
Congrats, Harper, from your 5th grade English teacher at Town. LOVELY music.

No wonder Paul Simon is Harper's father!! theyre'both so good and sweet!!
Haha! Kinda sad when he said "*Got no mother, got no father*" because it was so true.
I'm so glad there is still new music like this out there. Such a big fan of Simon & Garfunkel, Paul Simon, and now Harper Simon!
How the F is this song so good?
LOVE this song, so glad to be introduced to this artist. And once I realized he is Paul Simon's son, I was like DUH, sounds a lot like him. Very talented!!
GIRLS sent me here!!
Excellent! Beautiful! And I hear his father, too.
This is awesome!! I thought it was his dad when I heard it on radio 2! Simon and Garfunkle could have even had a come back with this!
This is the song I needed to hear today.
Great song, the lyrics are lovely, Harper Simon has talent!!
Beautifull voice😊
OMG, A fine frenzy is there. She's so beautiful.

Oh... he's Paul Simon's son. That's why his voice sounds like Paul's and the song is so similar to his.
+Victoria Odegaard This day in age, you just want to compliment somebody for recognizing... Good on you Vicky,
Omg that's it! Paul Simon's son- thankyou!
Divine on my heart strings... ❤️
I walked into Simon & Garfunkel in Sandiego 19 years ago & his voice does same Transcendental thing to my being. Must see him!
Belle mélodie ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Yep, and I didn't get past the pilot for that show, but I thank Lena Dunham for turning me onto his music
I started getting hooked three episodes in.

Heard this on Girls and thought, oh I don't know this one by S&G. Well....

Simple as a bee,as a melody in C..
Sounds like his dad,wow

Harper's Voice is between Paul and Art's voices I think
exactly like Paul Simon yes
...and cool cars
@TheObsidianNightfall
Yes, he does and some of the vocals and guitar playing sound like him too
however did John Perry Barlow, lyricist of Legendary Grateful Dead fame end up in this one??
❤️
Is he still recording songs?
Is that Alison Sudol playing guitar at 2:36?

Thanks!

@layzeedave Don't forget to throw in some early Simon & Garfunkel songs...
Like a mix of the guy from Fountains of Wayne and his dad
Sounds like Paul Simon
É a cara do pai. só que mais alto um pouco.
sounds a lot like his father... but I like it.
although there's only one Paul anyway
It's like if Paul Simon was a hack.
Paul simon 2
Wow... Not his Dad. I hear Art Garfunkel. Listen to Art Garfunkels Album "Everything Waits to be Noticed"
I really like this but does anyone else think he looks E from The Eels?
I get it now, it's retro! Cheap motel, sad clown, who am I (oh yea, son of multi-millionaire singer, set for life, nothing to worry about).
who paid for this, pops?
@5MaroonLights Because i hate the song soooo much i needed to tell people how i felt.
Trop de son papa pas trop innovateur pourrais mai?

If I sounded like my Dad I'd end it all! Try ORIGINALITY!!
