Jim Jamison had strong ties to my hometown, Dyersburg, Tn. When I worked at Dburd Intermediate Sch, the asst principal told me stories Jim would pull during lunch when they both attended Dburg High Sch.
I'd be honored if some fans of classic 80s rock anthems would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal YT performances of EYE OF THE TIGER by Survivor and IS THIS LOVE by Whitesnake in tribute to the era of legendary power ballads. Live acoustic with no autotune. Stay safe and keep on rocking in the '020s.
I came close to seeing him live. Survivor had booked a show in London, their first ever show in the UK. Ironically they did some recordings from When Seconds Count in London back in 1986. But it was finally happening. Many of us AOR fans were seeing Survivor. Jimi then unfortunately passed away and then that gig was cancelled. It was devastating since Jimi was so dear to us and that we would never get to see him live. The show that never was. Still, the love for Survivor and Jimi will always remain.

One of the best bands. Some people think they’re a one hit wonder, but I have the whole album of Too Hot to Sleep on my playlist. I grew up on Survivor!
Why oh why can’t music be this great again? I sure miss the days of pure talent and non digitalized voices with true power and clarity. I’m so grateful to be of the generation that got to experience this first hand.
