RIP Andy. Bassists are often unrated in their contribution to the band. Their songs would not have been the gems they were without you ❤️😢
RIP Andy Rourke. This song, along with so many other songs by the Smiths have some of the best basslines in rock/pop music ever. We’ll miss you
I love this bassline. Excellently played too
Thank you!
I agree with APerry! Beautiful bassline and perfectly played.

With tears in my eyes…….. A true legend has past away😢
I don't even play bass and I've watched this video a million times, so relaxing!
I use your video on repeat as my corner of the internet for mental clarity when studying
I've just sent a bass guitar to your house, you should get it Monday or Tuesday.
Music lesson is both aural and visual. Thank you for your generosity by postng free tabs/chords on screen. Most YT guitar teachers/enthusiasts NEVER share tabs/chords on screen. But you are an exception. You are a gift to the world. We appreciate your effort and superb talent ❤❤❤
2023. THANK YOU. I was a teenager when this song came out. Listened to it during the dark days of growing up. Survived and have seen the light... Blessed Today. Grateful for what Life has taught and given to me. Especially teaching myself and learning how to play the Bass guitar.
What a beautiful bassline. Toms nailed it once again 🎸🤙🏽🎶
Thank you 🤗
Take me out tonight
Where there's music and there's people
And they're young and alive
Driving in your car
I never never want to go home
Because I haven't got one
Anymore
Take me out tonight
Because I want to see people and I
Want to see life
Driving in your car
Oh, please don't drop me home
Because it's not my home, it's their
Home, and I'm welcome no more
And if a double-decker bus
Crashes into us
To die by your side
Is such a heavenly way to die
And if a ten-ton truck
Kills the both of us
To die by your side
Well, the pleasure - the privilege is mine
Take me out tonight
Take me anywhere, I don't care
I don't care, I don't care
And in the darkened underpass
I thought oh God, my chance has come at last
(but then a strange fear gripped me and I
Just couldn't ask)
Take me out tonight
Oh, take me anywhere, I don't care
I don't care, I don't care
Driving in your car
I never never want to go home
Because I haven't got one, da...
Oh, I haven't got one
And if a double-decker bus
Crashes into us
To die by your side
Is such a heavenly way to die
And if a ten-ton truck
Kills the both of us
To die by your side
Well, the pleasure - the privilege is mine
Oh, there is a light and it never goes out
There is a light and it never goes out
There is a light and it never goes out
There is a light and it never goes out
There is a light and it never goes out
There is a light and it never goes out
There is a light and it never goes out
There is a light and it never goes out
There is a light and it never goes out
Iconic song for me. Well played. Verse isn't as difficult as I thought it would be. Great bass line.
Great job! The bassline MAKES this song!
Man, this brings tears to my eyes. Can't explain it.
Andy Rourke you're a genius !! Excellent cover 👏👏👏👏👏
Brilliant cover, thanks! Imho the bass is the soul of this awesome classic...
And you just got a new subscriber 😊
rest in peace Andy, your bassline will live forever!
I love to listen to this instrumental while having a smoke and studying, bless.
Hey same
Callaboose it’s a beautiful piece of music 💨💨💨😌💨👍
Sounds like the instrumental of a hentai flash game from newgrounds
that's.. oddly specific??@@doomlver5190
bro I can't believe it's already been 7 months since I watched this video. I stopped here to thank you for providing such accurate tabs.
I really don't know how you did it, but absolutely amazing job. I'm glad I learned from the version you uploaded here.
also rest in peace andy..
You always pick the greatest songs to cover, thanks always Tom, all your videos throughout the year are truly appreciated, you've helped me come a long way with my playing.
I think I'll end up having a stroke trying to sing this while playing the bass.
Yeah it's not a bassline meant to be played and sung at the same time, that's for sure.
It’s certainly not Love will Tear Us Apart
@@hookyhook6006 Exactly. Singing and playing bass is a lot like singing and playing rhythm guitar- you just need to play simple stuff.
good luck!!!¡'!!'

Fabulous to see someone covering The Smiths, eighties goodness!
Utterly flawless. Best 4:10 i've spent today!
This song is a masterpiece and Andy Rourke is wonderful !!
A... Los tiempos,mil gracias, voy siguiendo tus tutoriales,muy buenos, dinàmicos y pedagògicos.Felicitaciones.
One classic, very easy end A classic, very easy and relaxing.
This song is a masterpiece. Literary genius.
I love this bass line but damn it makes my fingers hurt
Thats some absolutely awesome tabs Sir. I wish every bass cover song had that.
Thank you 🤗
Simplemente una hermosa y maravillosa línea de bajo ❤
I love it❤
I've watched your video hundreds of times. Thanks!
easily learned the bassline through this playthrough. good playing, thanks
Great wonderful sound.
Love Morissey but I have to say this pleases me even more than the original version!
👏👏👏👏
Thanks- I had a few if the short passing notes wrong, and this cleared it up
I love ur videos Tom, and ur a fantastic bass player, keep them little gems of bass lines coming 🙏🤙🏽🎸
Thank you! 🤗
How long have I been waiting for this video lesson. thank
Beautiful ❤
Beautifully played as well
Beautiful bassline 🔥🔥
Fantastic
Nicely done Tom thanks
Show, man!!!! Bravo!!!
so helpful! learned this so quickly thanks to your video :) thank you!
Great one, thank you!
Subscribed! Thank you for sharing this song.
i love to practice on this Tom.. love the background music it helps me to move on those notes
Thank you Tom. Nice bassline!
Yes, mate! Awesome tab! Thanks
It's haunting because of this fantastic bass line
The chorus doesn't kick in until end of song with melody
"There is a light and it never goes out"
But throughout all the song the Bass player is playing melody on Bass guitar as opposed to rhythm
I think thats why it gets under your skin all way through
Until at end Morrissey sings
the melody
"There is a light and it never goes out" over and over
Perfectly in alignment with bass notes until it fades out
Brilliant masterpiece of music
ok
Wow, This is perfect Tom 👏
You my friend killed it wonderful job!
Thank you !
wow this was surprisingly easy. thank u!
I love it!
thank you so much!
Excelente cover, es una linea de bajo tan sencilla y complicada a la vez que es facil perder el tiempo de ña canción. Bien hecho
You make it look sooo easy. But it isn’t. It isn’t at all… it’s a bloody good bass-line this is! And I’m gonna nail it! Once. Flawless (in my dreams 😂)
its fairly easy?
@@nottraduce it's really easy! (not saying it isn't good mind...)
Amazing!!!!!
Great job!
Te re felicito excelente 👌 ❤
Well done.
Great song!
that slide 4/6
thanks!
Great video man! thanks for sharing!
Brilliant!!!!!!!
Thank you 🤗
That's a nice bass 👌, you don't see many in that red orange or orange
Muito bom!
❤❤❤
Have watched this at least 50 times... I love the original with Morissey's voice but I prefer to listen this instrumental version...
SUBBED. THANK YOU :)
Great lesson! Any advice for a solid consistent tone like this when playing live? Do you use a compressor or is it all in the fingers? How about EQ?
No effects, very little eq. The most is all in the fingers.
Can you transcribe one vision live at the wembley stadium? Thank you
BEAUTIFUL TOM, PAULO FROM BRASIL.
Thank you Paulo :-)
Makes me want to watch The Leather Boys.
Muito show do milhao 🤘🏼👏🎸
It is standar tuning??
What tuning is this in? Great job, by the way 👏
Amazing song, great bass lines. Well played. Can I ask do you have the sheet music available for this. Thank you
The transcriptions to all my videos are available on my Patreon page. Link in the video description.
that's good show
The Song.
very good sound and very well played, but I think in the original song it's played with pick
I loved it anyways ;D
if possible; try to listen the song, "O último romântico", by Lulu Santos, so you can check the bass arrangements.
Hello Raul, yes it's a very nice bassline.
Hey great work! Mind if I ask what gadget you're using, if there's any, to come up with this kind of bass tone?
The gadget are my fingers and good playong technique, that's all I'm using.
@@basscination Nice classy reply mate!
The lack of vocals is so unnerving, always feel like they’re about to come but they never do
Rest in peace, Andy Rourke.😢
great cover
can u do
Morrissey - Suedehead ??????? plz
a big favor from chile.
Saludos,Tom. No entiendo los numeros de abajo, son trastes o dedos mano derecha ??? gracias
Estos son los "beats"
original ringtone?
yep
Flatwounds?
No, I never use flatwounds.
You can play men!!!Wonderful
Thank you 🤗
Massa
Fender jazz bass ??
No, I play a Fender Precision bass.
my hand hurts so bad rn
I'm content to play and hide next to the drummer. 😆
Somegirls are bigger than others pleaseeeeeee
a score like this can be considered easy for a skilled reader?
Yes of course
Its really easy if you're playing the bass for at least 3 months cause most of the time bassline just repeats and its not that fast
@@etcetera4297 I don't think was an "easy" bassline to pick up when I was 3 months in, by any means.
Smiths songs sound so great when there's no vocals on them.
This song actually swings much better without Morrissey's vocals. Great job.
Andy Rourke played this song with a pick...
Thanks for removing the singer's vocals. It's now a GREAT song!
