Chris, as an avid Mt. Biker for 35 yrs and a HUGE fan of the channel, I too am here to highly advise to not wear sandals while biking. A slipped foot into the chain/sprocket or spinning spokes can mean the loss of a toe. Also, for those who don't get it: whether it's an orange Jeep or a silver van, this channel is about Chris and venturing into the wilderness. The vehicle in which it is done shouldn't matter as much as everyone seems to believe. Looking forward to the upcoming trip.
Totally agree, good footwear is a must, and also some good biking gloves. I’ve taken spills without gloves where my hands took the worst of it. Good episode today.
OMG! That was the the first thought in my mind when I watched this video. Just get going fast and have to put your foot down on the ground wearing flip flops.. I grew up riding and racing dirt bikes. Then back in the early 2000's I switched to Dual Sport/ADV motorcycles. I could give you a Laundry list of all the bones I have broken, the square yardage of skin lost. And that is even with wearing all the safety gear.
Nice trip, we just spent a week on the rim moving from secluded spot to another each day. Here's a grilled cheese tip, add pesto alone or with chicken, damn good. I searched but didn't find anything,, have you ever been to Aztec Peak? Its cool in the summer along with a fire lookout tower at the top and plenty of Adventure can be afoot in the area.. lol.
This time of year, especially this year, the Rim country is an incredible destination that we are lucky to have nearby. Also, thanks for giving the local company some props (even though I think they keep a small HQ in Cali). Perhaps you should approach them about making that box. Otherwise, I know there are local machine shops in Tucson that could probably build you something custom.
I just drove the length of the 300 road across the top of the Mogollon Rim yesterday on my way home from a camping trip. You did a great job of showing how beautiful the 25 miles of the West end of the drive really is. During my drive I passed a Revel (not yours) camped on the edge of the rim and it made me think of you. Then, I got home, watched your video and there you were. 🤔
Used to ride dirt bike all through there... This adventure brought back so many memories. Thank you. Youve encouraged so many adventures for us. Thank you sir
Hi Chris!!!Awesome running into you and Shannon outside the REI at the Tucson Mall!!! Great save on the tire slip there with sandals hahaha. Thanks for the upload and also excited for the Northwest. Cheers from Tucson.🌵
Nice! I just stayed on the other end of the rim above Sedona for 4 days. Look up Edge of the World. It's a popular place but I managed to find a secluded spot right on a cliff over looking Sedona. 34°58'30.3"N 111°49'45.3"W
Would be so sick to have a box in between the bike racks…. But it might only be useable without bikes on. Pedals and such might get in the way of a functional door.
If the cords and stuff will fit, you could do ammo cans, paint them to match, attach to bottoms to the rack then open just one side. Cool setup for the bikes though. And yes, the Mogollon Rim is stunning and full of dispersed campsites all the through AZ to NM B-)
Awesome video Chris! Appreciate your videography! Looking forward to you and Shannon breaking out some next week! Be safe out there and enjoy the adventure! Best...
You need to go to an army surplus store and get a 50 cal ammo can. They are water tight weather proof and lockable. You can get them in various sizes but the look of the space you have it appears as though it would fit. You might have to drill a couple of holes and maybe paint it flat black but it would be cheap and work.

Agree on the footwear, after the bone break Chris should be more aware.
My daughter insisted on wearing sandals. That is until a little stick popped up and jammed under her toenail. But hey not my problem. 😅
Have a mechanical, it’s a long uncomfortable walk in flip flops. Add you can’t go wrong with a 1UP, it’s as good as you get in a bike carrier.
