John, thank you. We have been waiting for this killer build since you announced your intentions during the 8 Jan 2021 video, "How the Pros Build A Van: Storyteller Overland Factory Tour" (see 0:26). Two points: 1) I do not feel as bad about my 18 mo. wait for delivery from Storyteller; and 2) Your products are awesome. You are a great salesman for your Owl brand. I hope to meet you soon.--Al
Fantastic Van!! I like the extended version better, but seeing the good design of all the accessories even in a short version, I love it. Thanks for your good videos.
I love watching John talk about these products with that enthusiasm. It’s like introducing his kids 😂incredible work from design to fabrication as usual
Wow. I got rid of my Revel and so been gone for about a year. Owl has grow leaps and bounds since! I love it. I like the new roof rack feature with the internal wiring. That’s innovation!! I’ll be getting that for my new build. And that locker!!! Wow! Congrats!! You guys think outside the box. You don’t make the same product everyone has just for the sake of stamping it Owl. You innovate, improve and release. Keep it up!!
I can't imagine 300k and no facilities. I can't imagine most women being ok with that either. I guess you can pay 300k to go solo LOL, except for those lucky few.
The price of these now is absolutely obscene. There's no way these prices make sense and some have seen 35% increases/gouging or more. $300,000 for what was like $210,000 one year ago? Lunacy.
Love love love how the lights are sloped down on the roof top allowing all that extra space above the lights on the roof rack#purebrillance#john@owl also notice the roof rack extends in the back as well.
John, Watching your new Storyteller video right now. Also on a massive road trip in the Arizona desert riding bikes. I thought of a couple potential add-ons and or new products for the B2 rack. 1.) Some ind of a pivot or device that would allow easier mounting of bikes on the B2 One-ups. It can be tough- and I am quite fit and 5'10 in height and it can be a challenge, even with a stool. Also less sharp edges. Easy to get cut on that rack.. A device like this also might allow for more than 2 bikes on the rack. 2.) Workout module. How about a pull-up and a dip apparatus that fits on a B2 rack? Take the workout with you! FWIW I live in Marin County and I would be happy to connect with you direct on either of these.
John, I’m new into the truck game but reading your post I thought I’d share some thoughts. Rogue abs Titan make bolt on dip and pull up bars for their racks. I can’t imagine that would be a stretch for Owl. Engineer them so they can fold out of the way or Owl can even build in multi-function utility. As far as sharp edges go, a quick fix could be the more durable marine vinyl that manufactures like Xpel makes. You could even grab some scrap vinyl from a wrap or detail shop and have the cut pieces that fold over sharp edges. Better fix would be rolled edges. I’m 5’8 and I can’t imagine loading a bike up to the height in the video without a good deal of effort and balancing an overhead press of 20-25 lbs of unwieldy bike. I see the rack having an unlock point where it levers out and down in front of the utility box. Lock point would need to be solid. I have a Saris rack that cantilevers out to the passenger side and angles out to allow easier access to the bike. I would think similar design could apply here. Steps and handles don’t really help when you need both hands on the bikes. Add in being tired after a long ride and things could get sloppy.
We know, and we hate it. We have wanted to have these out years ago but we have been so busy that we kept pushing them back. Now that we have a bigger space in AZ we are in production on the Roof Racks.
Great van! Are those side steps or sliders? Can they support the weight of the van? Can you talk a bit more about the ACC and 35s? Is that software something you guys sell as well?
the 35s, does that mean that the Software is now working for the Sprinters?!!! I'm assuming that it also works on the Revel? Assume it also works, 285/70 or 285/75s for those not wanting to do less body mods? And most importantly, when will it become generally available?
The side ladder is still a problem. When you go up them your toes always skin up the side of the van. If you would make the individual steps tilt down that would solve the problem.
So.. Where exactly is the $300,000? I see a $60,000 van, $20,000 worth exterior upgrades.. and then some 80/20 and fabric.. and about 2 weeks worth of labor. These Storyteller vans are so ludicrously overpriced.
That $60,000 wouldn’t even get you a cargo van with 4wd let alone a van with a fully fitted interior… and you must be joking if you think the exterior is anywhere near $20,000. Locking diff $5000, bumper $3000, roof rack $3000, ladder tire carrier $2000, tires and wheels $3000, bike rack, exterior box, wrap $3000, bumper step, winch, running boards, oh yea, and those Baja lp9 lights? $600 a pop and there are 7 of them. And in the video he didn’t even mention the upgraded suspension and 2” lift kit which would run you another $6000 before installation. There are no words to describe how stupid you sound saying that it looks like 2 weeks worth of labor… seriously? I won’t say that the van isn’t an expensive vehicle, but you are getting what you pay for. There is 0 chance that you could make it with 2 weeks worth of labor for any cheaper, but please do try and see how that goes.
@@timothydu9415 Regardless, This does not look like 300k, 150 to 200 at most. When he opened the back doors, what a major disappointment and lack luster that was. For 300k ill just have my van built custom.
Love your stuff and a lot of it will be on my Sprinter if I decide to go that route. Isn't MB doing away with 4WD (along with the six-cylinder diesel) in 2023?
My understanding is they are moving to an AWD with no low range and 4 cyl. Also based on some research the current isn’t a true 4x4 but closer to AWD, so perhaps not as big of a switch as you may think.
@@leenestle I've got the opus 15 the fit and finish is really good and heavy duty. I also like the outside kitchen and the queen size bed. Also the full wet bath is really good for my family with young kids.
Awesome van! I noticed the roof rack is only for the 170 wheelbase on your website. Do you make it for a 144 as shown on this van? Or maybe the website description is just not up-to-date?
Custom colors for the accessories would be cool. Extra capacity rear differential cover is silly. All you’re doing is getting up to temp 5 minutes later. Cooling fins are great. Drain plug is probably the best part
John that is the sickest(Best) campervan Ever! That wrap is so sick! That tire and rim combo! Oh YEAH!

$300K van with a $1.2K Coleman 120V AC. Cmon Man!

Nice work, I love the idea of running wires thru the rack,
Love Storyteller, only drawback is the bathroom/shower facilities setup. Seriously you guys did a solid build on this thing!

Think I'd go with a Line-X or similar exterior coating.....tough as rocks and handles pin striping pretty well.
Wow. Awesome stuff. Now I am gonna need a new side ladder for the new van so I can mount a smoker on the side. Lol. Love it
Excellent presentation dude. Excellent van.
Will that tire/ wheel combo work with 2023 electric slider?
when you're done showing this van off I'll take it !
Two years later - had this roof rack with side pillars above the windshield made it into production? Readily available or special order?

Great built!!! Keep on doing the great work! Love it
Can you build a ladder into the side of the van as part of the body so nothing sticks out?
35’s!!!! 😍

Similar question for the A pillar roof rack extensions, will they work for the Revel too?
Awesome vid......is the upgrade locking diff with new gears available now? Couldn't find on your site.

Can you tell me what the mounting bracket system was for your Agency6 Grab handle to the A pillar bar?
The rear locking thing should be available for sale as kit for international customers.....very interested in this...

Does this mean that you can run adaptive cruise control with 35s? If so how do I get on the list?

Agreed! Storyteller vans are way overpriced. Owl gear is legit though, some might say overpriced as well, but I'm still buying 😊
Can something be overpriced and sell out? Maybe my memory of my economics class has faded. Better to say "this too expensive for ME."

No Solar?
Did this roof rack ever get released?
How do i put my ebike up on the rack is so high 🤔🤔😂😂

Where is the pooper and shower located?
