I was and still remain a huge admirer of all their choreography and skits. Huge love to Robert. RIP Lorene, you put many a smile on my face, you are missed.
Used to love watching S&Y back in the 70's. This was GOOD television from an earlier time in history and oh how I miss the old days before technology and political correctness were king...
Just a bit of trivia about them, sad as it may be... The duo married in 1972 but divorced in 1986. Lorene Yarnell moved to Norway in 1998 with her then fourth husband but died in 2010 of a brain aneurysm at the age of 66. Robert Shields remarried in Sept 2006 but his bride passed away a mere seven months later in April 2007 of a brain tumor. Shields currently resides in Verde Valley, Arizona where he creates paintings, sculptures, and jewelry design. He is currently 64.
Love the 70's and loved these 2. Their performance on the muppets was unforgettable. So glad Robert's story is finally getting told. Looking forward to seeing the movie this year.
When I was little, I watched the show for him. She was absolutely fine, no problem with her at all, but he was on another level. He was so good it was kinda spooky (but still *fascinating*).
Oh how we all loved watching Shields & Yarnell on TV! They caused many kids & adults to try to do the robot moves. Some more successful than others. Thanks for making part of my youth so much fun!
I was pretty young at the time, but I LOVED watching S&Y on TV. It seemed like in the beginning they made appearances on many different shows doing a skit or two and then they ended up getting their own show. Really brings back nostalgic memories. Thanks for posting!
I loved watching these 2 geniuses. And back then I didn't realize how talented a fall guy he was. You get older and take a few falls and realize he was a true artist.
Back in the 70s, TV was so wholesome for children, this was fun show to watch with my entire family along with other shows of that time....great time to be a kid!!! 53 yes old....
I think they used to travel with another act called The Mum and Chums that worn mask of paper on. A roll. What I vaguely recall look like a huge rule of paper towels 🤔
They divorced in 1986. She remarried, and died in 2010 of cancer at age 66. It surprised me to learn that she was SEVEN years older than Robert. He wound up remarrying a young musician-songwriter named Laurie Burke in 2006. Tragically, she was diagnosed with a brain tumor shortly thereafter and died less than a year after their marriage at 47. articles.latimes.com/2010/aug/06/local/la-me-lorene-yarnell-jansson-20100806 laurieburkeshields.memory-of.com/ www.robertshields.com/

Back when comedy was king and wouldn't banish u for life for a comment or a joke...😢
The 70s were a special time for sure. Man I miss these two! I wonder whatever happened to them.
Thank you all so much for all the love Robert Shields
Lorene Yarnell passed away in July 2010
Wow, what fun! I remember I loved their show back when I was a kid!
I still love Shields and Yarnell. They are part of my childhood like Victor Borge and the Muppets. Thank you for the memories
I really miss them to, I was laying in bed listening to Tangerine Dream, when their names popped into my head, I had to look them up.
I really love the skit at Orbitz, that one really made me laugh. I also miss Victor Borga when he did his sound effects of punctuation marks.

Grew up with this as a kid in the 70s.

I wonder whether if there are any Robot performances of Robert Shields from the 1980's-today
Everytime I watch the Orbits scene it makes me laugh.
When I was a kid and they did the husband and wife mimes at home. It freaked me out and was scared 😂
You too? I thought I was the only one.
I love watching the Orbits skit, it always makes me laugh.

As a poplocker they were my heroes!!
They were so awesome together. Loved their show.
1:50 Another Great Moment in Television!
They were the real deal
I did some mime in HS drama class and loved it!( honest......I wasn't very good at it) my classmates were actually very funny .
I love you all.
Do you have any complete episodes of Shields and Yarnell Variety show.
I use to live them
How did you two manage to keep a straight face the whole time? I know that couldn't have been easy!
Can I put this on my Facebook?
Could you explain how it was lost and then found?
Me too!
What ever happened to Shields and Yarnel ? Are they still living ? Divorced ? What ?
