When questioned about the resurrection of Jesus, why doesn't anyone ever mention the apostles and how they all (except one) died horrible deaths because they would not confess that Jesus did not rise from the dead? No one would die the way they did for a lie.

Apparently u never never heard of jonestown. 600 people committed suicide plus 100 children because Jim Jones told them to. They absolutely died believing he was a prophet. The resurrection is an extraordinary claim that does not have extraordinary evidence. The bible is the claim not the evidence.

because thats just a bad argument lol. Maybe against some layman or some low tier inquirer, but thats not strong at all. There a bunch of people in history that have died horrible deaths for lies they’ve made. Its a nice antidote maybe for “evidence” but never a serious argument

Because 12 men testified they had seen Jesus raised from the dead, then they proclaimed that truth for 40 years, never once denying it. Every one was beaten, tortured, stoned and put in prison. They would not have endured that if it weren't true. Watergate embroiled 12 of the most powerful men in the world-and they couldn't keep a lie for three weeks. The danger involved with saying you saw Jesus resurrected at that time was so high that lying about it would be completely nonsensical. It only makes sense that they were being courageous enough to stand by the truth.

Some of the most amazing things to me about Jesus Christ's Life and Resurrection is that the disciples and followers, who fled in fear for their lives on His arrest by the romans, suddenly became fearless evangelists who faced torture and execution rather than deny seeing and touching the resurected Christ. They obviously experienced something profound and life changing to effect them so dramatically! Also Jesus performed many miracles, described in the gospels and also recorded by those who accused Him of sorcery and witchcraft and who wanted Him destroyed and forgotten. Another major confirmation is that Christ's life and actions fulfill Old Testament Prophecy to the letter!

As someone from a Soviet culture (now an immigrant in the USA) I believe that the resurrection was staged by the Romans, as explained in a popular book where I'm from - "The Gospel of Afranius"; like many others, I read it in childhood and never thought about this question again - until coming to the USA and noticing a stark contrast in the discussion of this question. What's wrong with that explanation? Also, I believe matter is eternal - it can only move and change but not appear from nowhere - seems like common sense to me, but apparently not here in the US, what's wrong with that?

***An atheist scientist VS actual honest competent historians***
"Accounts of Jesus' resurrection and ascension are about as well-documented as Jack and the Beanstalk." ~ Richard Dawkins _[New Atheist, Zoologist]_
"I claim to be a historian. My approach to Classics is historical. And I tell you that the evidence for the life, the death, and the resurrection of _[the]_ Christ is better authenticated than most of the facts of ancient history ... " ~ Edward Blaiklock, _[Professor of Classics, Auckland University]_
"It may be taken as historically certain that Peter and the disciples had experiences after Jesus's death in which Jesus appeared to them as the risen _[the]_ Christ." ~ Gerd Ludemann _[Atheist New Testament historian]_
“That Jesus’ followers (and later Paul) had resurrection experiences is, in my judgment, a fact. What the reality was that gave rise to the experiences I do not know.” “Paul’s tradition that 500 people saw Jesus at the same time has led some people to suggest that Jesus’ followers suffered mass hysteria. But mass hysteria does not explain the other traditions.” “Finally we know that after his death his followers experienced what they described as the ‘resurrection’: the appearance of a living but transformed person who had actually died. They believed this, they lived it, and they died for it.” ~ E. P. Sanders _[New Testament and Pauline scholar]_
“Most striking perhaps is that fact that Jesus appeared to Paul. Paul hated Christians and was hell-bent on destroying the church. What transformed him from a persecutor of Christians to a pastor, who was willing to endure extraordinary hardship to proclaim the Gospel? Paul claimed it was the resurrection. This also indicates that Jesus didn’t just appear to friends or followers who might have been predisposed to think high and exalted things about him. Christ appeared to skeptics (James) and unbelievers (Paul) and they were convinced based on the reality of the resurrection.” -- “When Jesus died the disciples were discouraged and fearful. But a few weeks later they remerge as individuals committed to boldly proclaiming the resurrection of Jesus to the point of death. What caused this radical transformation? They encountered the risen Christ! The James mentioned above is likely Jesus’ brother. Remarkably, James didn’t believe in his brother during Jesus’ earthly ministry, an embarrassing detail the Gospel writers wouldn’t have made up. In fact, John 7:5 just states, “For even his own brothers didn’t believe in him.” But we also know as a matter of history that James becomes a leader in the early church (Galatians 1, Acts 15), worshiping his brother as messiah and Lord to the point of eventually dying for that belief.” ~ -Christopher Price _[Theologian]_

Ironically Joe actually proves one of his own points; he rightly says people can convince themselves of anything, and this is true, so much so that God had it said in His word first, that our hearts are entirely wicked and lead us astray, and that the wicked will be deceitful even with themselves to avoid the laws God has written in our hearts. “Did you talk to them” he asked in those clips referring to the eye witnesses, that’s odd because large portions of the laws and practices we as humans in the west follow, come from the past from individuals who did and decided things witnessed by others we’ve never met or heard of, yes the foundations of society lean on them. It’s been calculated, there is more evidence for the resurrection than that George Washington was a former president.

Flavius Renatus wrote a book that Napoleon carried with him everywhere called the military institutions of the Roman legion. The book was written at the request of Caesar in the 300s if I remember correctly. It was an examination of the Roman legion during the first century because they had never lost a single battle in the entire century. And Caesar wanted to know how to run his army since Rome was declining. The tomb was guarded by 16 men most likely who would be put to death as a group if one person was caught sleeping. They would do this publicly so that the occupied people would see if we do this to our own, what will we do to you if you do anything we don't like? That punishment would be carried out within hours by the rest of the legion with rocks and clubs ONLY so it was as brutal as possible. And the argument is that a handful of apostles, a 14 year old boy and a couple of women came in the dark of night and rolled a 2 Ton Stone UPHILL and stole the body of Jesus, while the soldiers slept? These soldiers were required to hit an 18 inch Target at 70 ft with a 1 lb rock and sling. They carried a sword and an assortment of Spears. If the seal was broken, every one of those soldiers would die. Does anyone think with everything that went on during Resurrection weekend that those soldiers allowed the apostles to steal the body of Jesus? Because I think that's more fantastical than Resurrection from the dead💥

If the disciples knew or thought that He was not risen they would be equally convinced of the fact that their belief in him was no longer valid and that would have been the end of Christianity. The fact that Christianity gained momentum and went all over the world is clear evidence of the reinforcement of their faith because he was indeed risen and we as believers can take comfort in the fact that our Lord is who he said he was. The massive movement that flowed from these events attest to its validity and the belief that it instilled in the followers of Jesus that went out spreading the word at great risk to themselves.

Maybe only Mary and her other children were in on it.

Its sad how he's so willing to believe in little green men with no objective proof, yet he is so unwilling to look into who Jesus really is.

He says "people are not smart and are easily led". Yet you read Paul's letter and definitely would come to a different conclusion. He was a student of Gamliel, the chief pharisee. If anyone knows Jewish rabbinic culture, they would know that to study under the highest ranking Rabbi, you had to have an extremely high IQ to be selected for discipleship. EVEN PETER admits in his letters that Paul's writings can be hard to understand. Joe is just ignorant of all this of course. I pray for his soul.

Paul was only going off of other people's stories, just like you are doing and members of every single religion on the planet do, some of whom are extremely intelligent.

I have been a skeptic most of my life. One of the sworn skeptics. Until I felt the Grace of God, since that day I have been convinced beyond any doubt that God is truly Alive. Jesus Christ transcends any logical explanation. Only by grace and through the heart can we understand.

This whole conversation..... "Blessed are those who have not seen, yet believe, for my Father in heaven has revealed these things to you."

"Every historical statement in the world is believed on authority. None of us has seen the Norman Conquest or the defeat of the Armada. None of us could prove them by pure logic as you prove a thing in mathematics. We believe them simply because people who did see them have left writings that tell us about them: in fact, on authority. A man who jibbed at authority in other things as some people do in religion would have to be content to know nothing all his life."
    -C.S. Lewis, "Mere Christianity"
