I'm dark skinned, I love your colour! Also a good tip is to apply 2 coats of basecoat, water ingress through washing hands etc makes gel polish lift! Sally Hansen Lift Preventer nail gel works as well! Budget girls can't spend £9/$12 on a tiny 10ml gel polish! UK 🇬🇧
I use Essie "Here Stay " basecoat and any nail Essie, Mua, Rimmel polish, glitter, ombre. I found the Essie "No chips " topcoat too thin and not shiny enough! So I got Seche Vite Quick Dry topcoat and apply it while the Essie topcoats are still wet! Result in a hard, shiny topcoat! If you have weak splitting nails, try Essie basecoats. I've switched to Essie nail polishes and Essie topcoats & Essie basecoat from gel polishes! When I paint my nails I make sure I remove my old nailpolish completely (if there is any) remove my cuticles, put 2 layers of base coat, 2 layers of nailpolish, and then top coat and my nail polish lasts for a day max This time (yesterday) I also used rubbing alcohol as shown in the video and put 2 layers of base coat; I painted my nails today in the afternoon (nailpolish+top coat), it's almost midnight and my nailpolish chipped on one of my fingers, what could I be doing wrong? My mom on the other hand does none of these steps (except removing the old nailpolish) and her nailpolish lasts for so long I also tried using the same nailpolish as her because I thought mine might me expired (and the one she currently has is the new one), but still the same thing Btw I didn't have this problem before :/
you shouldnt use two layers of base coat,it has to be only one layer,it would be too much for ur nail to handle plus the gel polish layers, try using one layer of base coat and see if it changes anything :)
@@alishaschumacher114 Ok thank you, I'll try :) I've seen some videos where people would say to use 1 coat of base coat if you use light coloured nailpolish and 2 if you use dark (to prevent staining the nail. That's why used 2 (didn't work-I used light nailpolishes and my nails are now stained)
I agree with the other people about the layers. But another thing to consider is the age of your polish and the brand. Nail type also makes a difference too. :)
6 layers of polish is waiting about 10 minutes to dry between each layer...thats 1 hr By then you could have finished an entire gel polish set in half the time
Yes u can but u have to make sure the polish is COMPLETELY dry before curing gel top coat bc it can wrinkle. i used to wait 6 hours for my nail polish to dry before gel top coat and they lasted at least 2 weeks ! the removal process is hard tho

Try not to do your nails too close to bedtime if you can help it. Like OP said, you could try a fast drying top coat, but keep in mind that the top coat layer may be dried, but the under layers may remain wet, causing chipping.

Brilliant I knew none of this and was blaming the polish brands 😂
This was literally me! I was vex because I really didn’t want to go back to acrylics.

Thank you!
I can't believe I never thought to cap the edges thank you so much-
Subscribed! Thank you for sharing these tips, I was soooooooo close to going back to acrylic too😂😆🎉
That’s a pretty colour.
What polish color are you using? Great color
Its maroon
When you apply the rubbing alcohol to the bare nail; do you let it stay or you wipe away immediately? ❤❤❤thank you
It evaporates pretty fast. I just let it dry and move on to the next step
Awe…thank you for answering. I painted my toe nails after watching.
I let my polish DRY FOR A HALF HOUR EACH COAT. It will last for a week.

Isn't that unhealthy?
I just did. Thank you for your advice :'))
@@MsBiz888like, for regular nail polish?? Tell me you're serious because that would change the game for me.
It depends on what brand your using.
Wow,thank you.❤
Is this regular nail polish or is it gel ??
Regular nail polish :)
Gel polish requires a lamp to dry,
While regular polish air dries :)
Thanks for asking, I was wondering the same😂
@@blizrinarine593
Actually, not always. Some gels are air dry and don’t require a UV. Sally Hansen makes a really great air dry polish. ☺️
How many minutes for dry?
THANK YOU I NEEDED A REFRESH IT'S BEEN 2 LONG
What else could I use instead of rubbing alcohol?
most people recommend acetone as well
@@blushingstrawberry Alright thanks! Any other suggestions?
I am no Professional, but I have seen a video that uses vinegar. I guess anything that will remove the oil from your nails will work.
Is top coat is fnishing cost
Thank you!!

base coat doesn't stop ur nails from staining they stain either way
Using darker colors will. No stains on mine and been for years using base. Nails are normal color.
How long should I wait in between coats so they don't smear each other bc that's always a struggle for me.
2-3 minutes it’s usually good unless it’s a very thick polish then you might want to wait longer
I wish I had time for all that

Isnt it like 6 coat? Isnt it too much?
1 coat of base coat, 2 coats of polish and 1 coat of top coat. Not thick and looks like you went to a pro
My nail polish are getting sticky I never get to apply transparent coating cuz it's always smudging

It takes me 20 mins from start to finish. base coat dries in 30 seconds, wait 1-2 mins per coat of polish, and i use fast dry top coat. 😉

Other than alcohol??
