- BREAKING NEWS - “Dog Daddy” associate Rich DuBarton has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of animal abuse in Mahwah, New Jersey.

who hosted a “Dog Daddy” training event in November 2023 - you might recall our posts calling for a boycott of his business at that time.
Despite extensive outreach and sharing of evidence against such methods, the "resort" and its owner, Rich DuBarton, remain unapologetic and plan to continue their association with Deoliveira, and as of now, “Dog Daddy” Augusto DeOliveira has claimed to be returning to this facility to work with more of the public’s dogs this April.
After acknowledging and dismissing the clear evidence of the dangers to their community that these methods pose, they have chosen to double down on their support for these methods.

He isnt. A trainer like Zak would be putting the dogs to sleep that Dog Daddy is training. He is sitting on his high horse while only ever training the easiest of dogs. He doesnt stand up for the dogs. He wants them dead.
@@LunnarisLP The truth is that neurotic dogs are sometimes better off dead, rather than suffering in their own head. Dog Daddy does not train dogs, he strangles them and traumatizes them to the point they shut down. As a balanced trainer, I do believe in all four quadrants of dog training, including punishment. This, however, is way too harsh and will likely make the dogs more aggressive in future. Think about it: you are a dog and behaving aggressively because you deem another dog or person as a threat. Then you get an insane negative thing happen. The dog will probably associate the dog or person as the cause of the extremely negative experience. Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi I am a first time listener! I was recommended for my puppy. However, I was shocked to hear DD in your 1st time video. I believe DD deals with the 'next step put to death dogs' and rehabilitates them. I have not seen anyone save so many dogs! Before we judge, I think we need to let the other side talk as well! Now I am ready to start training!

Zak would put these aggressive dogs to sleep instead. Whats cowardly and despicable? Facing a challenge with an aggressive dog or making actively missleading videos taking short clips out of context about the guy who is actually out there saving these dogs everybody else has given up on?
Zak is pathetic and stiring up drama because he gets less and less clicks every month. Thats all of the story. Go watch a Dog Daddy video with the dogs. Its mostly uncut you can see the full interactions from the first time he interacts with those dogs and then go talk more about them being "cowardly" criminals while you sit in your chair and would never even go anywhere close to an aggressive dog.
The owner of that place is a scumbag. That being said, according to Zak if I rented a party venue to host a birthday party for my kids and the owner of the venue gets arrested for some felony, it can be reported that the owner of the venue is an "associate" of mine.

I would suggest watching several of his videos. DD is not doing basic obedience. He works with dogs that are out of control. He actually rehabilitates them. He saves them from euthanasia. Zak is on a mission to destroy any trainer that doesn't conform to his methods. Ask him how many dogs he has saved.
This really made me cry; but I am happy that it is being brought to the public eye. I hope this facility will be shut down, if it isn't already. When I had to leave my dogs with a kennel, I dropped in, unannounced, on all the kennels in our area and asked for an impromptu tour of their facility. If they wouldn't give me one, that facility got crossed off the list.
My dog trainer is a military dog handler for 20 years and he's pretty pissed off
I feel like this is more of a personal vendetta rather than a clear case of abuse. I've been slapped harder by my mother and even that doesn't qualify as abuse.

Heavy-handed leash handling is an indicator of deprioritizing ethics towards dogs, which in some cases, leads to this type of behavior. Did you know that years ago after Augusto vacated a rental property a graveyard of animal bones and a dead dog in a trash bag was found at that residence? It is well documented.
Where is the information sourced from ? What article or news story? Bcuz surely if this happened, it would have been in the news, a renter leaving behind an animal graveyard. And surely DD would have been investigated by the police. Or did you get it from a fb post? Bcuz we all know how credible fb, IG & Reddit is. Much like the person who posted you allegedly told them to euthanize their dog when they asked for help.

This is relieving. The last video you posted about this - the comments had me bummed out. The amount of people defending this just makes me so sad. I understand having SOME nuance between positive training vs aversive in the way of maybe things dogs don't like, like the vibration or noises they don't like. I don't believe that works, personally, better than methods that have been proven to be the most effective, but I understand not everyone feels that way. But when people are defending shock collars and physically hurting dogs like Dog Daddy and many others do, it's depressing. I understand regulation may make it harder to get accessible professional training or make it unaffordable, especially for things like service animals. But there has to be a middle ground/solution somewhere in the middle.
You guys are brainwashed. The dog trainers using corrections aren't throwing dogs into dumpsters. It's a strawman. This coward won't address the real trainers who call him out.
Shock collars are a recall tool. Not supposed to be used to shock the dog when you want to suppress behavior. We should be pushing for education, not banning the tool.

What are we talking about here? A 10-15 Second clip taken out of context? You guys have no idea about the work DD is doing. How did you miss this when you were investigating the Dog guy. DuBarton has a lot of red flags for awhile. Did you go visit that facility? Because just visiting would have raised alarms about this guy. A glaring thing is no lock on the dumpster. That’s illegal in any animal facility I have ever seen. You lock the dumpster with secured keys. So that when this happens in any form their is a responsible party that has access to the dumpster. Without a lock the charges will be lower. The lock allows you to prosecute to the fullest. There is no real way to tie him directly. If Zack would have visited the facility should have seen the conditions. Zack should have been the one that caught this. He holds himself as this fighter for dogs. Except he doesn’t do the work required to claim. Zack issued videos about this place and didn’t bother to actually look. I am not saying this out of control kennel owner is even remotely innocent or without culpability. I am saying Zack is responsible for everyday after his first video about this place until someone else reported the problem. That’s just lazy. He made a video about a facility that was torturing animals and never noticed. He can’t hold Dog guy under scrutiny because Zack did the same thing. They both went there and left suffering dogs behind. Dogs they should have helped instead of making clips.

DD is accepting dogs with the worst behaviour. A guy like Zak wouldnt even accept the job but just tell the owner to kill the dog (he would of course call it "putting to sleep" as if it was something nice like) and get another breed that is easier to handle.

i dont know who Rich DuBarton is and how is he related to Dog Daddy. But if you take your time to watch Dog Daddy videos you understand that he helps dogs and people in extrem situations. The methods can look outrageous if you just take some images out of context, but those dogs are extremely violent and out of control, they are a danger for society. And Dog Daddy just fix them, and after five minutes with him dogs seem a lot more relaxed and happier than before, and they just follow his comands wagging their tails. If that Rich DuBarton is abusing dogs he should go to jail, of course.

Very suspect that shortly after DD's train the trainer sessions (including Mahwah, NJ) were listed on his website and subsequent videos that a malnourished dog is found in this facility's dumpster.
Your cult followers have sworn to do whatever they need to do to stop the DD. I'm sure I'm not the only one who can connect those dots because a 57 year old professional animal enforcement officer in 2 separate towns would never risk his career, his reputation, or put himself in a position like this. The police literally said that the guy had picked up the dog from them directly, and they also found tons of other dogs, malnourished, medically, mistreated, in freezing temperatures surrounded by feces and urine so there's a lot of mental cartwheels You have to do to come up with the theory that someone against dog daddy placed that dog there. 😂

My sister took her dog to a facility to get trained for about a month…Her dog started having seizures and was not himself she believes he was abused…He is very loved he is not the same dog…My sister has him on seizure medication now and someone that comes by every day to check up on him when she’s at work…He’s seizures have subsided but it seems he will always need meds now…She also noticed the seizures increase when he’s under stress…Poor baby🙏🙏💔

I think Zak is showing insane signs of racism, homophobia, and professional jealousy. Dog Daddy doesn't own, operate that facility but Zak pretends there is a meaningful connection. Zak should talk about the aggressive dogs he's told his clients and shelters to give up on and euthanize, unlike DD who routinely and quickly fixes and saves them.
And he made vague statements of DD being rejected by other entities but never names them. I'm frankly shocked that Zak turned into such a hater.

Then how come no positive only dog trainers show us how to train those "seriously dangerous " dogs and show us first hand how to handle it bcs we see all positive only trainers talk about seeing these serious dogs then they train really easy not so dangerous dogs on their channel. Not so serious dogs are basic obedience like barking a lot , potty train, pulling , mild aggressive nature versus these REALLY serious dogs that have hurt ppl and kids.

I admire youe desire to close down a centre that enables abuse of dogs. What I really object to is that Richard Bubarton is the owner and the only man the police our holding accountable. Yet he is not the only man you are holding to account. You focus your video on Augusto Deoliveira whose only focus like you is training dogs. The good thing for Zac is that he wont ever be in such a situation. Because he wont ever need to be in such a facility as he will never train dogs that are hard to train.
We got a morkie from a relative who no longer has a home, its currently 3-4 years old and not potty trained. Is it possible to still teach it?
You might work with a local trainer, but my sister-in-law once took in a 4 year old cocker spaniel mix who had not been housetrained and was able to quickly and successfully housetrain him.
We once adopted a 9yr old spaniel mix who had been neglected quite badly for a long time. Her collar was embedded in her neck and the scab took at least 6 months to heal. She had zero house training. But she very quickly learned the routine and how to get us to open the door, as well as she used a wee pad when we left for a few hours. That being said, I also had a chorkie, and that makes me believe yours might be willfully not potty training, lol. Jk. You'll figure out what motivates your pup and get them in line, dogs are smart. If you keep working,, one day they'll just do it, and never look back. But do ask your vet, in case your baby has something causing urgency issues. (I had that once too).
I encourage people to get both sides. Zak, have you worked with aggressive dogs? Not everything can be fixed with treats. I know nothing about the guy who was arrested, but Augusto saves dogs from being put down.

Believe me he never has. These Dogs that DD is "abusing" are cases where Zac would tell the owners that their dog is a lost case and they are better off putting him to sleep.

I simply cannot imagine throwing a dog in a dumpster. I wouldn't even do that with a dog that had passed away--much less a living dog. How could anyone do that? How could anyone allow dogs to get into the condition that he allowed those dogs to get in? I hope his facility has been shut down for good and that he sits in a jail cell for a good, long time. And I hope Dog Daddy will start getting the message that his methods are archaic and cruel and that he elects to learn positive methods and use them to actually help animals (instead of harming them). But I'm not going to hold my breath.
As a former Animal Control Officer, I can tell you thousands of dogs and cats are disposed of in landfills every day. It's a harsh reality. Fortunately for some, DogDaddy is rehabilitating them and finding homes so they don't have to die. Hear both sides of a story before passing judgement. ZG appears to be jealous of several online trainers and attacks them. DD is taking the high road. The dogs he saves are totally out of control.

Going by what I see in the video and how this "dog trainer" is handling the dogs is horrific and extremely hard to understand why a dog owner would bring their dog there. Someone has to be a voice for these poor animals.

Now ask yourself why he is bringing it up. DD trains dogs and owners and offers in his hometown free dogtraining. So while DD trains dogs, zak sells courses and slanders. Zak highlighting this guys every move shows himself as more of a psycho driven by rivalry and obsession. Theres room for more than one trainer in the world.
Oh my god, I felt so sorry for the last dog, he was being strangled by that horrible guy. The dog was scared trying to protect his snout with his paws. So sad for all these dogs 😭😭😭

I have a family member who goes to a trainer with unethical practices, Jesse Sternberg aka the peaceful alpha and iv had to keep my pup away from that family member because he uses these methods saying that the expert told him to do it. My 1 year old pup has been raised with R+ force free only and is training to be a service dog so Im quite protective of her
For those of you who love Zak and defend him. Look at the thumbnail pic. He put DOG DADDY ARRESTED ANIMAL ABUSE in bold, big letters. So visually when you look at it you believe DD was arrested for animal abuse. The "associate of" is in very small letters.

How can trainers like Zac pretend it would be better to put these aggressive dogs to sleep without even giving them a chance while pretening they love dogs? Either you love dogs or you dont. Only loving those who are good boys and girls while telling owners of aggressive dogs that they are lost causes is not loving dogs. Its just loving yourself more than anything else.
Instead of constantly trashing DD, why not offer to attend one of his seminars and show him how you would "train" one of the vicious dogs he handles? That seems more productive than constant bashing.

Seems pretty disingenuous to tie any dog trainer that being hosted by a dog training facility. It seems more likely that the dog facility is using a popular dog trainer to help promote their own business. 37 dogs is big money operation.

Oh my god, im in NJ and I never even heard of this, I never even knew that “The Dog Daddy” had been around here, disgusting really. I volunteer at an animal shelter and they have two trainers that work there with them who have been training dogs for longer then Ive been alive, ill have to have a conversation with them about this. I know theyre very active in dog training events around Jersey and across the country really, hopefully they know some information on it so we can make sure this doesnt keep happening.

and when i watched FULL sessions of the dog daddy, i dont see him mistreating dogs. his shorts "look" like he is mistreating dogs, and the clips that zak ONLY shows are the parts that look bad, and he leaves it out of context... he even cuts the shorts to show the worst looking parts as well, like they weren't short enough.. thats not cool zak..
just watch some of his recent videos as well (after people told him to start posting more of his sessions rather then shorts, so people can see these "actions" more in context.) then he did, cuz he doesnt have anything to hide.
or go watch ANY of his sessions where its NOT a short.
and while your at it(if you actually care about dogs) watch the story about how he came about, before he was "the dog daddy".
