- In this Cesar911 Episode, I help a family who has gone through a recent heartbreaking event.
Leon, the family's dog, has developed aggressive behavior and has even bit someone.
If Cesar can't help solve this problem, Animal Control may be called in.
This episode focuses on holding onto the past and how our feelings and emotions can affect our dogs.

Hi Cesar great video as always my friend, got a question, my pup is 15 months and everytime he walks past fresh urine he wants to lick it up , is this natural or should I be correcting him
With due respect I Want to see the full episode of the 911 telecast. Could I get the link of it ?? @Ceser Millan
I just became a single mother and now that my ex husband is not on the picture, my dog has become aggressive towards other dogs. I can’t afford to remove him from our lives (son and I) my son has been through a lot already... what can’t I do?
This is the Dog Breed I grew up with. Skipper did not play when strangers were around. But My Dad was good with animals. Very protective, very loving dogs.
Love you Ceasar! I've learned so much from you and always encourage people to watch you, keep up the good work, you are living your best life!💜🐾🐾
“Let go of the pain, not let go of the memories.”
This hit hard.
As long as you have the memories, it is quite hard to let go of the pain though.

@Jason Lambert there is a pack mentality in the family.
Hahah nice. "my dog had a problem"
First train people then the dog folows
Leon's original owner must have been a fabulous person to have such devoted friends who would not let anything bad happen to her dog. Love this woman.
So true. I shudder to think what my "friends" would do with my dogs.
Was just going to comment this!
What I have realized in my 26 years of life, good people always die too early. I don't know why.
Can we give props to the lady who adopted this dog and refused to let go? How amazing is this! Amazing friend, amazing human. More people should be this kind and patient.
imagine the dog who saw her a lot and still see her but witouth his owner.. must be fucked up
I’m not giving props to that lady. She is the entire problem. She created this negative state. Fortunately she asked for help. But she didn’t ask for help until after she got in trouble for letting her dog bite an innocent person. So no, no props to Caitlin.

It's difficult to distance from grief when they have a pet who's a strong reminder of their loss... But it's wonderful that they reached out for help. Such a great step forward. Well done for helping them, César!
Yeah but instead of projecting all their fear and sense of loss on the dog, they can also make the best out of the situation and become stronger in the process with the dog by showing him he's taken care of, doesn't need to worry and enjoy life again together. When they get through the process and professional training they'll grow together as friends and family even more.
This is a really tough situation for all of them. The family for their loss, and Cesar to try and correct an aggressive dog who's already bitten someone and the owners have received a warning that if Leon bites someone again he will be taken away.
I can only imagine her anxiety. I love dogs and have rescued many in my life but a dog that's aggressive towards humans I have never dealt with. Correcting him before he attacks is all well and good but what about the one time you correct him a moment too late. It really is a dangerous situation. Not that Leon goes in for the kill otherwise he would have drawn blood. He nips rather than bites, but it's still a very tricky problem to solve.
I would definitely muzzle him. For my piece of mind, and others. But I know that's not the answer.
@Pro Justice doesnt care dogs are no humans. If you wann that your should yeah put all your emotions to the dog so he gets a Bad bhevouir because of you. And then he coumd bite someone. So if you hate your dog go Do this
The first aggressive Golden Retriever I ever seen.
It’s part chow. That’s the aggressive side.
It's crossed with a chow and they can be very aggressive however, I have known a couple of Golden's who have been/are aggressive. The first was the dog of the tenants who lived above us many years ago - not a friendly dog at all. Only the husband could walk him because he was so aggressive. The second is my SiL's Golden. Not as aggressive as the first one I mentioned but a bit growly at times. Personally, I'm not that impressed with this breed's personality.
Well my Goldendor is fear reactive and I am working with him on that.
He is a wonderful dog but he needs work.
Doesn’t matter the breed. bad owners bad dog it’s that simple
They're inherently aggressive. They are a danger to society.
Cesar Millan is a giant. Because of him, hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dogs and their owners have learned how to achieve balance and peace. Cesar, please keep doing what you do. You will never know what you have done for me and my pack.
I wish more people would watch him and take his advice.
@@crisgard oh, Preach! I can't walk my dog in either direction away from my house because there are large unleashed dogs that run out into the road to challenge me and my dog.
He is a large dominant breed male and, while he is super chill and doesn't challenge other dogs, he would actually actually rather play, he with be bullied.
As a 63 year old woman with not great knees and hips, I can't control a situation like that should it go south.
It's a shame, I would love to be able to walk him without having to put him in the car and driving someplace else.
But, I have ordered some bear spray that I am going to try, given that the wind is favorable.
If I can spray it ahead of us 15 or 20 yards, it should smell strongly enough that the dogs won't want to go out in the road to investigate. At least, that is my hope
I can understand why he was so anxious of people. Last time strangers came up to them and he never saw his owner again. I’d be terrified of everyone.
yep, had one owner vanish, he doesn't want another
She was more than an owner, it was practically his mother that he never saw again.

Your so right. Its easy to teach the dog. Well for ceaser it is. but much harder to train human. My little dog is much better on lead with my husband . I find it hard to relax when other dogs come near . I need ceaser to train me.
Calm energy, calm energy, calm energy. I'm in control of myself, my dog. Now repeat this 100x before owning a dog.
Caesar is not only a dog whisperer but also people whisperer, God bless you man🙏🏽
I learned how to train dogs as a child watching my father. I’ve learned more as I’ve aged…I’m now 70…but what I learned from him has given me wonderful relationships with all the dogs who’ve lived with me over my life. I didn’t fully appreciate what I learned until watching Caesar’s episodes over the years. When I first started watching years ago I was horrified by the inability of the owners to manage their animals. Now I understand how blessed I was in my father.
I always looked up to my grandfather because he has such a way with dogs. It’s beautiful watchin someone who knows how to correct and love on their dogs.
Be honest. You trained dinosaurs. I’m jk man. I’m half way there myself. Appreciate you sharing your experience
bless you both
Owner needs to correct her behaviour, dogs mimic their owners behaviour. An anxious owner that isn't the pack leader is what leads to an out of control dog. I hope this lady understands now what it takes to be the pack leader. Daily 30 minute long drops are important for this dog. The correct collar and lead are also important, the collar must always be positioned high around the throat of the dog,not the lower neck. No constant tightness pulling of the lead, just q quick jolt of the lead and only after a one word command fails. All commands must be one word only. No patting the dog or showing it any affection until the animals behaviour has been corrected ( which could take weeks or months ).
Cesar treats the owners the most, so they can handle their dog right. I have learned a lot from Cesar.
Cesar... simply has CoNTROL and extreme confidence with the dogs...very calm confident.❤️

It’s sad I really think she needs help herself.. I don’t mean that in a mean way at all whatsoever
@@tengri23 An experience thats not funny.
There are many dog behavior trainers. But cesar is at another level.
he trains people not dogs. Most problem dogs result from the owner.
@@otisb.driftwood7106He does both
Omg what a wonderful woman to not give up on her friend’s dog!!! ❤️
Because of Katlyn's anxiety, Leon thinks/feels he needs to protect her. Unfortunately, Leon doesn't understand how to do that because he hasn't been shown how. And Katlyn doesn't know how to show Leon what she wants, so he is left to figure it out.
That makes sense.
Dog's can sense if you're scared, anxious, or calm.
yeah, realize the dog's psychology is pretty much he is in a wolf pack, a rival wolf or predator (as he sees it) is coming to attack them, he protecc he attacc. without the pack leaders influence telling him "no he is fren" that is what wolf thinks. i guess that is what cesar would say.
@@linusyootasteisking couldn't explain it better. Noice
Anybody else notice how he never redirects on his owner? So loyal. So thankful for Cesar working with such an awesome dog. :)
Unlike my dog... the dog in this video is literally my dog but mine is 3 times bigger and 100% redirects on me! (Mine is a Caucasian Ovcharka)
He has to address the owner if there is to be change. The Owner is the cause of the problems in 95 percent of these cases
@@kcstereo By "never redirects on his owner" Charity Blackwell is talking about the dog.
Because in most cases when a dog is trying to attack another dog or person the dog "redirects" it's energy on the owner.
In my own personal case with an aggressive dog, mine would redirect his energy on to me by attacking me every time I'd stop him from trying to attack another dog.
Maybe because she was also feeling anxious and the dog felt the need to protect the pack, rather than just lash out at everyone
@@DogOnAKeyboard She was feeling anxious? She's a drama queen...
That lady needs to seek professional help from a psychiatrist. Don't mean no offense, she just looks like she has lots of unsolved issues and needs help to deal with the her loss.
Maybe she does see a psychiatrist and just cannot stop grieving. Stop being an a**hole on RUclips
@@HomesteadAtLast how am I being an a**hole by being concerned about her wellbeing?
Grieving is a process. Some people just don't get through a traumatic loss instantly or all at once, it takes time for most people, and even then you never truly get over the thought of losing someone who's been in your life for so long. She probably should have resolved her issues a bit before taking on the responsibility of taking care of her best friend's dog without using it as a crutch for her feelings, but she's at least proactive with this situation by getting help from Ceasar. She didn't just give up, so I give her kudos for that.
@@stancooksj I'm not criticizing her for grieving, I only suggested she needs professional help. Cesar can help her only so much, to understand the dog and human relationship. I can't remember which episode it was but there was another one where a lady had adopted a dog and was projecting her emotional experience onto the dog, Cesar just couldn't get through to her, there was no issues with the dog but as soon as she was handling it the dog would take over because she was the weaker one in the two. So Cesar made sure to introduce her to a holistic psychiatrist or something, that really helped her and she started to work on herself and her issues which made her bond woth the dog better and control it.
@@oangst9900 I understand what you're saying and I know you aren't criticizing her grief process, but she's actively seeking help that's the point I'm making. Who's to say that this situation won't lead to more help for her in the future? Like the example you gave, some people just need to hear these things from an outside source. Cesar also helps people realize that they're the issue and he also shows WHY they are they issue too. So indirectly, she is getting help for herself, she's trying to be a better owner which in turn will make her a better person. You don't necessarily need psychiatric help to achieve this goal.
To be honest, after just a minute of observing Kaitlyn , even I got anxious ... no wonder the dog's anxiety levels are through the roof !

Why would someone unleash an aggressive dog at a dog park?
WHO DOES THAT??
Rest easy Lisa! And may your mom find peace with your departure! 💖💖
I like the way you just say shhhhh to the dog and he listens. The dogs are just so obedient when you're around. You can really read the dog's minds.
I don't think this has anything to do with obedience but being scared. CM is very harsh.
Or like my trainer said he would have made a handsome underwear model in his younger days but he's certainly not a good dog trainer.
I done so much damage to my rescue pooch when I first had her and thought CMs way of training suits a dog. I apologized many times and by now she's the best dog ever and she doesn't have to be perfect.

It's a California thing I think?
So extra haha
I thought the same thing! 😂🙄 🙄
Lmao
What a wimpy person! Disgusting... and not uncommon now-a-days.
I think I get it, is not just a correction, is communication, Cesar is telling the dog "is okay we're safe" he is indeed the dog whisperer
Yup. The correction is meaningless if you don’t give the right kind of energy to allow the behavior you want or the pathway to allow the dog to move on.
You communicate with a dog with your energy.
I liken it to speaking to a hearing impaired person. Raising your voice isn't "yelling & screaming" at them. It's just so they can hear you. Cesar says many times in the Dog Whisperer series (which is better than 911, imo. more informative, less entertainment) that the correction's intensity matches a dog's intensity (level 3 versus level 8 red zone). But, there's never any impatience/frustration/anger. Turning up the intensity to match the dog's, so you can be heard, is just that. It's the same concept as the 1-10 dial on a vibration collar. Some dogs only need 3. Others need 8. There is no "attitude" involved in dialing it up to 8. No anger or frustration. It's just what the dog needs to hear your communication.
It’s a lot more than that. Nothing short of a sufficient distraction and redirecting will get the job done, especially if the dog and the person handling them don’t have a bond. Obedience comes before behavioral correction.
Yeah..he is AWESOME!!A natural talent!! Perhaps even a bit " supernatural" cause not everyone has his abilities.
I WISH I could do what he does. My Chihuahua is beyond "psycho"..

@@susanbloomfield6060 I'm more impressed how he calms down people within minutes than the dogs.
Dogs are not as complicated as people. He said it himself, 'Humans tend to carry on with pain and trauma, dogs experience it but don't hang on to it for years.'
@@Vikingr4Jesus5919 Thats very true. And we tend to look for danger. As in a big dog. Might attack a small dog so it's us humans sending stress signals down the leash. But however he dose it. Hes amazing
He's especially good at managing humans.
That was difficult to watch. It really hit me hard when Lisa's mother referred to losing her daughter as a punishment - as if she were somehow responsible for this terrible tragedy.
❤A good dog handler who can understand n control those dogs.
It isn't the question, Cesar, the question is "can I change the OWNER to be more assertive and take charge of their dog? I see people actually petting their dog, saying sweetly "oh, you shouldn't do that", while they continue to pet--encouraging, the dog.
Cesar! Qué hombre tan admirable. Mi hermano te adoraba y también tenía ese don tan hermoso de agudar a los perros. Eres un gran ejemplo de disciplina y entereza.
I learn many things about my behavior and how it affects my dogs AND cats. I try to calm down BEFORE taking them for walks and I learn how to correct the dogs behavior immediately.
Thank you César Milan, you are my hero 😉😁🥰
Cesar's knowledge and wisdom about dogs is spot on, and his techniques are timeless! This was an excellent episode - I cried tears of joy for Leon and his family! Enjoyed his work for years (years) and it has helped me change with my dogs.
I always learn and enjoy this so much. Oh and you look great .
Cedar is a genius. Almost always the dog owner.
I wonder how she was “correcting” him aside from pulling on the leash? Some dog owners refuse to “correct” a second of discomfort vs having the dog continues to live in high anxiety.
👋👋👋
You can tell the owners are looking more with judgment than anything. Like OMG look at how he’s treating him. When the end outcome is what’s most important. A minute of training for a lifetime of happiness is totally worth it, be Grateful!
Beautiful. It is unfortunate that people become mis-guided emotionally and they project that onto their dogs. They don’t see the dogs as dogs. There should be a mandatory class on given before purchasing or being allowed to purchase or adopt a dog. It will probably never happen as humans can just have babies without a license or a training on how to raise them. Thank you Cesar.
Bang on !
I agree with you. Problem is, many pet sellers/brokers could care less. Just buy the dog they say.
Human Trainer and makes the pet calm also.

Cesar is a blessing to dogs! He knows how to read dog behavior and helps dog owners all around the world.
This dog was always some sort of aggressive .
I hope that Cesar can help all of them ... But IF COURSE CESAR WILL HELP !
Grief is a heavy companion ... how lucky is it that animals accept each day as it comes - much unlike humans .
Let's not put our human problems onto our beloved dogs .
Thank you , Cesar .
I'll say it once, and I'll say it again. It's never the dogs fault, it's always the owners. The woman shouldn't be walking the dog period , if she can't control the dog with pure strength, and if she can't keep herself calm, then the dog despite ALL the training you give them will NEVER change.
If you're afraid to get your hands dirty while walking a dog, stopping them, touching them, telling them to sit ect ect then you shouldn't own a dog period.
@Not Leviathan So well said! Absolutely if a dog is acting out, it's ALWAYS the fault of the human. This woman is a JOKE. And her ball-less boyfriend should be ashamed of himself.
By the way, it is "etc.", not "ect." The way you can remember is that this is an abbreviation of the Latin "et cetera" or "and others". So to shorten it, it is "etc." or in the old days, "&c.", which I loved. But that was in my last life, and that cool abbreviation has gone by the wayside.
I always watch Cesar on TV. Now I can watch him anytime on utube. It's so easy on him training dogs. I like that.
Rest In Peace, Lisa.
A really sad story. Those are good people doing all they can to take the best possible care of the dog.
I hope that everything will go well.
Leon IMMEDIATELY calmed down with Cesar. Act as Cesar acts, be like Cesar is. Don't be whimpy with a dog. Then they have to be head 'o' the pack.
You just have to be calm and assertive. My dogs know when I’m not giving the walk my all
As soon as I realize that they aren’t following me, I correct my energy and take lead. They make me realize when I’m projecting crap energy.

I know right 🤣🤣🤣
Love, losing a child isn't punishment for us mothers. We are only loaned these precious souls to love them through their journey on earth. May you know this deep in your heart 💞
I feel that it might be best if they gave this dog to a new owner who didn't know Lisa. They could still love him from a distance. Sometimes letting go can be an expression of love. With a new owner that wonderful dog could have a chance at real happiness.
Although this young lady is struggling her dog has to be rehabilitated with this young lady is also learning about her personality things she probably wasn’t aware of and hopefully Cesar can bring them both back into balance
What you said about humans making a story in their minds and acting from that, while dogs don't ... that's well put. That's something that I've noticed when trying to analyze how my dogs think and react different than I do. Dogs don't have the complicated egos like we do. Part of that lack of a story. They don't compare between themselves and others long term, between how it was then and how it is now. They want stuff, they try to get what they want, or avoid what they don't like. They feel affection and hate, fear, protectiveness, loyalty, responsibility, pride and status, all like us. They play, they tease, they figure out how things work, they have a sense of humor, they can also be kind. But they don't weave it into a story or keep a story going. It can shift quickly with the circumstances. They don't get hurt feelings like we do. They don't do abstract ideas. We say a sunset is pretty and admire the colors. That kind of pretty doesn't exist for them. They see you like sunset time when you say that. Maybe because it's cooling down and getting dark, maybe because the hunting is good then, maybe because it means supper time.
Ours is golden retriever/black lab 2 years old we rescued from sister-in-law who was very abusive to her. We are using Cesar info to help her. We love her alot. Thank you for the help. Cesar

This reaction right there tells you all you need to know about this bunch of people. I'm sure that lady was thinking "animal abuse" right off the bat. I can understand that losing someone so young is devastating but projecting all that hurt and pain onto an innocant dog is in no way a good thing.
Cesar is a better psychologist than any "real" psychologist I've ever met.

These people live in a really nice area! Beautiful houses, beautiful lawns, beautiful neighborhoods. Nice.
And some of the most restrictive animal laws in the country. :(
So many Americans don’t know how to be their dogs leader! They are over nice to their dog they don’t understand they’re not humans ...
And they give animals human emotions .
Please don't do this , people .
First of all... Don't generalize Americans... Second of all that woman just did not know how to take care of a dog properly..and keep in mind she was greving the loss of her friend so she had other things on her mind.

You're a good boy Leon, I'm sure your Mommy would be incredibly proud of you❤️
It’s rare for a golden to be so aggressive. This is so sad. This dog is so lucky that’s she’s a committed owner. If she did not adopt him he might have gone to a shelter. Who knows what would have happened.
"I'm getting my increased heart rate"...SERIOUSLY LADY?! Poor dog!
she's a mess
Controlling emotions is hard, especially fear
I am so sorry about their loss So hard on everyone including the dog She is too worried about her hair it was annoying Pull it back and pay attention!!! You should stop focusing on how you will look and concern yourself with what is going on
Dear Lord please stop Messing with your hair because you’re going to get yourself hurt and other people or even the dog
The hair touching is a nervous behavior...
Her hair touching/flipping is unconscious. It is a anxious coping behaviour NOT a conscious attempt at better grooming.
Messing with your hair is a reaction of nervousness…
I feel her pain. I have experienced similar actions with my rescue retriever. Rescue is so much different than raising a pup. He's coming along good with people now but still have a problem with other dogs in close proximately. The problem with untrained people such as myself, we don't necessarily notice the dogs body language early enough. The training and effort I have had to put in with this dog has been exhausting. I hope one day he can be as gentle as my last Goldens were.

So Kailyn, sure you love this dog because he’s attached to your friend you’ve been grieving but your anxiety that you’re projecting is not safe for him. I’m so glad I finally started watching Cesar and have no excuse why I waited so so long. I will share my story soon about me and how we have five dogs. Thanks Cesar and the team 🐶🐕🐩🐕🦮
CORRECTING DOG’S BEHAVIOUR IS REAL LOVE AND PROTECTING THEM FROM DANGER….
I had a feeling the dog's aggression was just his reaction to the anxiety in the new owner. That Leon was feeling her anxiety through the tension in the leash. Dogs look to us for direction...how to react..especially when something is new (sounds). I knew this so when my then puppy was to hear my condo's PA system (monthly, once) to test the fire alarm I et him see I was calm. Carrying on and even played with him during the PA announcement and alarm sounding. Since then he's ignored those VErY loud sounds. WE could even walk down the stairwell while the fire alarm is sounding non-stop...
I also started socializing him the same afternoon I brought him home. Took him to a Pet Smart (had to buy a harness, food bowls...etc. ) exposing him to strangers and other dogs he didn't know. No problem. He loved being there. And when we got home I took him to a park. Let him roam free (couldn't find a harness small enough..he was 7 pounds). First best friend was an 80 pound PitBull (2 years old, female)....they played off leash every time...no worries. One time the Pit got a little spirited in her play and the owner immediately told her dog to play gentle and she did. Never any incident after that. But it wasn't aggression..the Pit probably wanted to roll around or wrestle...dog was smart enough to know not to...just needed that reminder that one time. Since then my dog...a 4 year old Pug...is eager to meet new dog buddies and play with dog friends/owners he already knows.
isn't afraid of loud machines that were ripping up the pavement . Would even walk close to watch. But the sound was too loud for any human..high dB...and the exhaust smoke...No fear. He studies thing as much as he can to get an understanding. Might find that entertaining (e.g. he understands how an elevator works on a basic level...which side the doors will open, which one is arriving, when it's coming to a stop..)...knows 3 square km of my area...etc.
Like children they are what we make them. When I see shy dogs they are usually with shy owners. Anti-social dogs...owners the same. Usually 9/10.
She said she gets anxious when her dog gets close to a pack of dogs, and with Cesar and Cesar's dogs there. Girl, get a gold fish.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I have a question. Before Cesar comes in to the situation to help, why not use a muzzle on Leon during walks , for the safety of other people and dogs ?
Owner may not be able to put it on--or simply can't face the need.
I was thinking the same thing.
They are difficult to fit and troublesome to put on if the pup is resistant or jumping around. She is anxious anyway and that would ramp the situation up. I know because I went through that with my dog who was a rescue.
It’s tough to have a dog-aggressive dog, especially if you are used to Labs (my situation) that love everyone!
a muzzle isn't the answer, Training the owner is. A muzzle could actually make him worst in the long run because you have not addressed the real problem. It is like putting a band-aid on a gaping wound that is ten inches long and 4 inches deep. The girl is the problem. She does not know anything about handling a dog.
El mejor profesor que e tenido gracias asere 👏🙏
This is so sad. Dog experience everything just the way we do. 🥺
There should be a Cesar Millan calender. Him with all sorts of dogs. And proceeds can go to the sanctuary.
Hope there's a second part coming up, great to watch how easily mindset and body language can change everything in just a few minutes. Couldn't find a dog trainer in Germany as good as you Cesar. 🤗 They're often waaaayyy too soft with their dogs, and training the humans in the first place is something they've never heard of.
