This was a great video. You really are helping Kaitlyn heal emotionally as well. You are teaching her to not only take control of Leon, but also of her emotions that she allows to dictate her actions.
@@JennyYasi It works! His training on both the humans and the dogs only work if the humans work right with the dogs. If they listen to what Caesar is telling them and practice it.
I used his training techniques on my dog, a difficult dog with high pray drive and very reactive to other dogs . If it wasn’t for Cesar my dog would not celebrate his 11 th birthday or he would have been locked away from the world. I gave my dog a norma life ,riding the bike with him and drained his energy following Cesar advises was the key to success .My dog passed away last week from illness, Cesar has no idea he saved my dog from being put down 7 yrs ago,I wish I could tell him in person , he is a great guy with a big heart.
For all those who disagree with this gentleman's techniques there's something you need to understand, THEY WORK 100% it may look pretty extreme but its a hell of a lot better than the there being people & animals being hurt from a vicious dog! I salute this man for his 100% honest attitude towards owners to I think a lot of owners need to hear his views!

@@jensenreus9668 you need to be able to match your dogs energy and show them you’re in control and correct any aggressive behaviors in a tough way, not beat the dog, but a quick hard touch to the side or neck to break that dog’s aggressive focus down while matching their intensity. Dogs are very smart and can read energy and if you as an owner budge the dog will run over you and if you don’t assert dominance you might as well get rid of the dog because you’ll never be able to do regular normal activities with that dog like take walks without attacks, going to dog parks without attacks and that’s no way your dog should live or you. Owners need to show dominance in their energy and not nervousness, anxiousness or fearfulness or it will project to that dog. Also people just think about having a dog to just love on an fulfill their emotional needs but don’t understand you need to be compatible with that dog and do research about how that dog operates before just getting it.
I trained my own dogs by watching cesar and I always get complimented in how well behaved she is on a walk especially when walking past excited dogs. I am so proud of her and so honoured to have her as my friend
I did the same thing thru watching Cears shows. I trained 6 Rottweilers & a Pitbull. Everyone has said how well behaved they are & pleasant to be around. Thanks Cesar Milan, you’re the Best!
Dogs can make wonderful pets to have if the owners themselves are willing to devote the time, energy and effort necessary in order to be taught because learning is growing.
Sometimes I think the only people who should try to have dogs are people with no lives and are willing to be 2nd to an animal . I like dogs a lot but idk I go back and forth, people exaggerate the benefits. Just so they could get a dog that they can pet. But can’t have a deep convo with or do everything with, who is highly dependent on you to do everything for them , the benefit is that you just want a furry thing to pet that sometimes wants to cuddle? Idk. If dogs weren’t so high maintenance I’d get it but often they are just off to the side , needing you to constantly medicate it at a vet and buying it tons of toys and taking it out just to watch IT run. I don’t get why people act like that is so amazing. I think some people are just incredibly bored and have no goals outside of work . Dogs can be cuddly every now and then sure, but that’s basically the only benefit, if you hang around anything or anyone long enough and take care of them devotedly you will develop a soft spot for them. But there are a lot of requirements with just about one benefit that gets dramatically romanticized
Absolutely correct. Problems are almost ALWAYS because of the owner. And I don’t like using the term “owner.” We are caregivers and family members to dogs & cats, just like children. No different. If you think it’s different than caring for a child - please, please do not get a dog. Ever.
@@LH23511 Not really pittbulls were bred for hunting also because they had alot of stamina and could keep up with the prey. But then people realized that they could fight for long time and thats the reason why they are soo many pittbull fights. They saw no potential in hunting and moved to make money with dog fights.
Anything is trainable with enough skill. But many dogs bring problems that are a lot to deal with for the average person. I think that’s a better way to characterize things.
The more I watch Ceaser, the more I realize he is almost as good at helping humans as dogs. Over and over he helps the human correct their mistakes to help the dogs.
I was thinking exactly the same thing. And I also think that he was lucky to have such a sharp and intelligent woman who was willing to be introspective.
This is something we should all do. Nothing wrong with judging the dog or owners behavior on first introduction. Instead uneducated people go look at that Pitty or Staffy it will bite my face off from across the park.
Are you talking about doggie racism? lol.. Or are you saying he will train any breed no matter what? That is true. Caesar likes all breeds. But I don't. Does that make me a doggie racist? lol.. I'm an Amstaff Supremacist..
This show taught me only one thing how my energy can affect everyone I deal with … I m not even a pet person and probably will never get one but I still watched this show to see energy dynamics
I love your comment. I have respect for your insight. IT's true--we impart onto others our own emotion. People, in general, don't seem to get this at all. I wish more did. I'm so glad you watched this show, whether you get an animal of your own someday, or decide it's not for you. There's no right or wrong--only you can decide. :) Me, I'm an animal lover through and through. :)
I would submit that a young of her size and weight is not a good match for a largerish dog. I suspect she treated this dog as a person and needs to be educated on pack behavior, prior to choosing a dog like this. That said, the die is cast when she brings the dog home for the first time. As a result this dog naturally protected his owner. Her body language and energy caused her stable dog to escalate the stable dog. Caesar recognizes the dogs aren’t’ the problem here, so he educated the owner in his way by showing her she was the problem. Another case of rehabilitating the owner, and not the dog. and I concur that characteristics shown here, translate well into human behavior. Outstanding, Semper Fi
I think that lab is actually a female named Holly! She’s a formerly resource guarding dog that actually bit Cesar and drew blood a couple of years back.
This is exactly my dog! I’ve only had my dog since February after my husbands passing. My dog is so aggressive towards other dogs it’s frightening. She’s otherwise the sweetest dog ever. This was really helpful, if only it could be this easy to change her behavior…..and both our anxiety. I’m terrified to walk her sometimes.
GoogIe the phrase above. My dog was very similar to yours and now she's 100% calm. You'll be truly amazed at how establishing leadership completely transforms your dog. It's the very best thing you can do if your dog shows any signs of aggression.
Don't be terrified just remember that you are in full control of what your dog does. My dog has a leash agression problem wich has gotten a lot better in the past 2 years. I just learned to remain more calm passing by other dogs and stop expecting her to lash out. And if she lashes out i know that if i get her attention fast enaugh and tell her to stop she will do it imidiatly. As stupid as it might sound you have to make it clear that you are the boss and you decide if your dog should lash out or not. Be confident!

even if you don't have a dog personally it's likely that you know someone who does and you might be able to help change someone's life just by sharing what you've learned. you never know when the knowledge you have might come in handy.
Awesome observation! A few years ago, I got my first dog (finally lol) that was not a family dog, rescue dog; a dog I purposefully got to have as a companion. She was so timid and fearful, and I had to learn how to work with that as I had never had this experience with a puppy. She was the runt of the litter and born this way. I ended up becoming calmer and stronger for her, to be what SHE needs. In so doing, that spread to other areas of my life. I was not able to apply these things without my dog- so the phrase Cesar says that we get the dog we need is so true. If you are able to apply these things on your own, that is so inspirational to me.
Omg I just said that before I seen your comment! It’s intense, I can only imagine what her dog feels all day. I hope she can get some help for that, because anxiety and panic attacks are no joke.
Facing the problems is the one of the most hardest things to do. Ceasar always says " you don't get the dog you want but dog you need ". This dog gave her the reason for her to facing her fear. Your dog tell you who you really are. Dogs won't lie.
It’s amazing how a dog or other animal can show you what is wrong with ourselves by not being balance human beings. I wish more people could see what Cesar teach.

@@Misstresbelle Who said anything about enjoying it? Firefighters have to face the fire to stop the flames and save peoples lives. You can't ignore your dogs aggression and expect it to go away. True but it’s likely because she knows Caesar is the one who’s supposed to be helping during the fight, not her. Also, she’s on tv and it’s embarrassing when your animal acts stupid and you can’t do anything about it because someone else is teaching you what to correct.
The amount of dog lives this man has most likely saved because of his training/teaching has to be equal to that of a Veterinarian that is long into their career. Thank you Cesar.
I wonder how many of us are not aware at all of our emotions, let alone how or pets pick it up. It pushes us to deal with our stuff and grow to a calm, peaceful, more confident life. These pets push us to change.
Exactly. My dog is a year old now. Early on, when I introduced him to one of nieces, he growled. I immediately corrected that bs and helped her be confident, explaining you rule the dog, he doesn't rule you. Never happened again.
Yep!! I've pulled a pit bull off of a cocker spaniel! I was at a dog park a year ago with my dogs and a pittie had his teeth around a cockers neck , I ran in and dug my nails into the dogs mouth on his upper roof of his mouth and he let go! Remember that guys! His owner was like no mamm don't try while he hitting his dog in his head and nothing would stop him! My instincts set in and I'm not afraid! You have to let know a dog who's boss! The owner not the animal.

My kids used to be scared and I tell them no, Just tell the digs no and to listen now my pups don't jump or hurt my kids and they only 4 month old the other 5 months. Its crazy how owners get dogs and act the way she does.
The biggest lesson i take away from your videos is that dogs don't think like we do. When she turns away it's to avoid seeing the carnage. All her dog sees is the person he loves cowering while he clears the area of threat. LOVE your methodology and have used it with my dogs for years! Thank you!

Teaching herding would be done at a more safe level for the stock and way less speed and danger involved. Respect for her being able to put herself out there like this. She obviously cares about the dog, but it does not seem like shes fit to be an owner of a dog yet. She needs to focus on her own healing first. Leon is like an emotional bridge that connects her to her deceased friend and for that reason it seems hard to imagine her being able to put all these experiences behind her. Love how Cesar trains both human and animal.
Actually dogs are terribly good at helping people heal. That is why they use them in hospitals and old age homes. That dog is a chow in a retriever shaped body. If you know anything about chows then you know that they are stubborn, training resistant, territorial, and dog aggressive. They do not respond well to the same type of training that you would use for - let's say a retriever/labrador/spaniel - think more Akita/shiba inu mentality. When the South Park episode came out, everyone laughed at the absurdity of using a dog behavioural expert to discipline human child. Taking a look at the world today and I think it's a damn fine parenting blue print!
I'm a retired special Ed teacher and behavior specialist. I worked at a high school with juvenile delinquents. Everything I learned that was useful in my job, I learned from a life with horses and dogs. Right thing easy, wrong thing hard and clear expectations and consequences work ever time. Worked with my own kids too. We are mammals after all lol.
Totally! The more I learn about dogs (14 years now) the more I see they are almost exactly like children. And vice versa. I can't unsee the similarities and how many there are.
I’ve had dogs, horses, cats, kids & grandkids. 3, 2, 3, 5 & 5 respectively for each now. The methods of being calm, giving immediate relatable consequences, verbally or nonverbally, work 100% of the time. It requires you to pay complete attention to the “subject” and to correct the undesired behavior in a way appropriate for each “species.” How you correct behavior in a horse is different than for a dog, cat, or child, obviously, but because you can’t explain why the correction is taking place to the animals, it’s very important that they identify you as the pack/herd leader at all times and that you correct them in a manner in which they would be corrected by the pack leader/lead mare/primary occupant of the space (cats). I’ve never had issues with vicious dogs, dangerous horses, or “cats from hell.” That’s also because I let them establish their own hierarchy within their species with me as the ultimate leader. Any dog will try to fill the gap if their isn’t an alpha-as in this situation. I’ve owned 160-pound Irish wolfhounds and many other dogs, currently 3 Pomeranians (an extremely independent and stubborn breed even if they only weigh 5 pounds LOL), and if a dog, horse, cat, or kid doesn’t “look to you” for your reaction and decision, then you are NOT in charge of the situation and you will have problems. If you can’t be that constant presence, then you should not own animals or have kids. If you already do, then you need to learn how to be that in a loving, calm, caring, but ultimately authoritarian way. Disclaimer: husbands are almost impossible to use these methods on with any success and take years to develop an understanding with LOL! I’m in my 4th marriage (16 years now), and consequences for severe “infractions” are the only thing that works; that and reverse logic and “acquiescence” until there’s acceptance of the request. 😂 I can “fix” other people’s animals & kids, sometimes within minutes, but it’s impossible with their partners. Cesar has identified the crux of the issue: to help the dog change their behavior, you HAVE to help the human change theirs’, 😄

My dog was SO overprotective when I first got her. It died down after the first few months. She was about 3 and never had an owner before. She was also fearful and reactive towards other dogs. We brought home an emergency foster and about 2 months later her fear dissapaited and most of the reactivity went with it. She still needs training but time and patience did most of the trick. Cesars tips helped her growth tenfold tho.
She just oozes nervous and anxious energy. Poor dog feels she's constantly in danger and tries to protect her all the time while guessing what the danger is around them. Haha
I know it's a bad situation for the dog, the owner and every other dog/person they run into, but it is kind of sweet how the dog is super protective of the woman, despite the fact that she hasn't been his owner for very long. dogs are just too sweet.
Rad Madara 49 seconds ago (edited) @Floyd’s attitude He deleted my comment on what I thought of his video, He didn't stop any dog fight, he let the situation calm down, he let the dog chase the alpaca, putting it in danger, his energy bullshit is all made up, the dog is just protecting, doesn't matter the energy. Now people think the woman needs help. He thought the dog had sheep herding skills. When the dog was just chasing, trying to bite them. To me, he has zero knowledge
battheman777: Can we analyze the woman from a couple of minutes of videotape? It's true that she says all the right things in a strikingly unconvincing manner, but at least, from the evidence of her own eyes, she can see what a confident handler of Leon can accomplish with him. Will she need _major_ counseling to become less nervous herself and more assertive as Leon's leader? Maybe that's putting too dire a label on her behavior. The less afraid she is that she can't control what her dog will do, the less she will communicate that fear to Leon. That's a big first step.
@@gnirolnamlerf593 her reactions are actually quite normal. Normal people are horrified when their dogs attack another dog. What is wrong is that it was not a good paring. A chow is never going to be an easy dog. They are genetically stubborn, resistant to training, territorial, and dog aggressive. And those negative traits are dominant in most chow crosses. The owner would have been fine if it was a goldie or even a labrador. But saying that this is all her fault is wrong and not very constructive - it also fails to address the root of the issue which is quite typical. Just look at poor Holly there - why does he use her? Because she's not an aggressive dog. Never was. A fearful dog yes, a submissive dog yes - aggressive nope. If she was aggressive he would not be using her to do this as she would have been just as eager to get at him than he was. This video is ridiculous.
I swear to god every time that moment happens, that magical moment when the owner and the dog “gets it” and the negative behavior shows an instant change - I cry. It’s just so magical.
This man is one of my heroes and if he ever comes to San Antonio Texas, I would love to meet Cesar and say thank you. If I had to summarize Caesar's philosophy, he is really training the hooman, not the dog.
I hear often from people that their dog does not like other dogs or specific situations, but if you take the owner out of the equation the dog has no problems. in 90% of the cases it is really all about the owners
What I've seen is that the owners overlook *tons* of other bad/dominant/unruly behavior. They think it's cute, or shows the dog is happy and full of "personality." All they want is the one unpleasant thing changed (dog/leash aggression; possessiveness; separation anxiety). It's usually just one thing that they want changed, but humping the kids in the house? "We think that's cute." I tried to help someone with a dog who lunges/snaps at the husband. When I asked why the dog still wasn't crate trained after two years, she said "it didn't want to go in." (Then the sound of crickets chirping as she takes a selfie, and explains that she has to be somewhere in 10 minutes. No connection at all. She thinks the dog should be on medication. Plans to visit an exclusive vet psychiatrist.).
as someone who has a dog with actual behaviour problems (we didn't raise her) I can say all you said is true. Eventhough me and my family aren't professionals, her behaviour has been looking up over the last year. Most dogs are treated very unfairly and end up with problems because of it

Why was the dog lunging At the husband? Also crate training would have helped that how? Putting it in the crate after it acted like that? I thought crates shouldn’t be associated with punishment
Owners always walk in thinking Cesar will correct their dogs’ behaviour Cesar: You are the reason why your dog misbehaves. Here’s a valuable life lesson about how to control your emotions.
There are three basic things to having a well-trained, well adjusted dog. 1) Don't be a nervous wreck. 2) Don't neglect your dog. 3) Train your dog and be consistent with (non-corporal) punishment and reward to get the behavior you want.
Ever notice how dog trainers instantly control these "naughty" dogs, and then the dogs go wild as soon as they are back with the owner? It is because ALOT of it is not dog training, its owner training.
No-it’s because dogs evolved to read our emotions. He is misreading her face, and sensing, fear, sadness, anger. The dog naturally wants to ‘protect’ the owner
No dog trainers in America likes ceasers technique. He was raised in a farm.. didn't learn this in a university. Most of the trainers want to treat dogs like humans. It was ready to work and rounded up all those sheep without even training.. amazing.

you sit on a keyboard judging peoples anxiety and say they need help. Anxiety manifests in a multitude of forms when it comes to animals, nobody wants to hear that they are a bad dog parent. nobody wants to see their dogs the cause of another persons/dogs pain. Its a 100 percent, normal human response. yes we can hope that she can learn to better control her emotions and better correct her dogs actions. but you notice how Cesar gives positive criticism for both human and animal, maybe you should take notice of his leadership. I say this as a person who suffers from anxiety from a multitude of stressors and the desensitized comments of "just get help" is the exact opposite of positive support.

Dogs are perfectly fine and trainable, it’s just the owners who need the help and discipline.
Dog training is 95% training humans and 5% training dogs.
Dog's problems are always caused by humans so of course you need to fix the causal problem first or nothing changes.

It's universal. At least among us mammals, if not beyond
Me, I'm an animal lover through and through.

I'd like to see it too.
Yea ikr? We all would love to see the rest of the ep. but where? :c

There are far better dog trainers around - but thank goodness we all have the right to choose. I just pity your dogs who are subject to your archaic view on dog training.

Cesar is the only man I know that can decide to break into a house with multiple guard dogs and come out perfectly fine lol😂

@@elavke5441 What jesuseyi oyeyemi is trying to say is, if Cesar Milan break into a house and see aggressive guard dogs, Cesar Milan would know their behavior and calm the dog instead of getting bit by the dog, hehe, and come out alive, hehe, that was funny.
But who knows, if the guard dog and the owner have a high trusty bond. Cesar might not make it out, hehe, just a joke.
Cesar Milan the goat of dogs behavior and to correct yourself to handle the dog. If you can learn from Cesar Milan, you can handle any domesticated animal. You just need to think what the animal is thinking and put your mind in their mind to see what the animal is thinking and then you just need to provide.

After watching this and a few others, I was able to walk my male, 150lb Rottweiler by myself. I am 60 years old! He did great! Or rather “I” did great! Thank you so much!
Wow; Congratulations. I'm sure Cesar is proud of your achievement too. He's probably just too busy to reply to all these great comments.
I've never seen a Rottie that weighs 150lbs. Sounds like he needs to be on a diet.

Lol. That episode was sooo hilarious
Dogs are not humans. Humans are not dogs. That's kind of Caesar's whole thing???
You’re gifted and amazing to watch, Cesar. Thanks.

Cesar is the best! He trains the dogs and then trains the owners. He's helped dog owners who may have lost their pet.
She just oozes nervous and anxious energy. Poor dog feels she's constantly in danger and tries to protect her all the time while guessing what the danger is around them. Haha
Yeah the dog is essentially her babysitter.

@Floyd’s attitude He deleted my comment on what I thought of his video, He didn't stop any dog fight, he let the situation calm down, he let the dog chase the alpaca, putting it in danger, his energy bullshit is all made up, the dog is just protecting, doesn't matter the energy. Now people think the woman needs help. He thought the dog had sheep herding skills. When the dog was just chasing, trying to bite them. To me, he has zero knowledge
This poor girl needs some major counseling. You could tell before she even started talking about losing her friend.
It’s not fair to an animal though when a damaged person expects so much of them but won’t give anything they need.
@@HkFinn83 So true. Not fair at all.
@@HkFinn83 I hope through training her dog she'll actually learn how to be less anxious herself. animals often reflect ourselves
battheman777: Can we analyze the woman from a couple of minutes of videotape?

"We think that's cute."
I tried to help someone with a dog who lunges/snaps at the husband.
Most dogs are treated very unfairly and end up with problems because of it
Yeah i used to live with a friend who had german shephard who just was so protective and barked at everything that went past the house or when i was walking him when he met other dogs he´d go berserk making me anxious to meet other dogs to be honest i had no idea that me worrying about it caused it to be even worse lol i ended up despising that dog waking me up in the nights and always causing problems and im pretty sure he felt it towards the end not that i treated him bad it just sucks to be put into a situation taking care of an animal when u have no fucking clue how dogs works or why they are how they are that said i´d never get a dog even though they are the coolest it´s just work and you have to know what ur doings and actually work hard to keep them happy
Why was the dog lunging At the husband? Also crate training would have helped that how? Putting it in the crate after it acted like that? I thought crates shouldn’t be associated with punishment

There are three basic things to having a well-trained, well adjusted dog. 1) Don't be a nervous wreck. 2) Don't neglect your dog. 3) Train your dog and be consistent with (non-corporal) punishment and reward to get the behavior you want.
Thats basically all that´s to it
Ceasar is just demonstrably right in his techniques. Its all about calmness and confidence.
Ever notice how dog trainers instantly control these "naughty" dogs, and then the dogs go wild as soon as they are back with the owner? It is because ALOT of it is not dog training, its owner training.
Cesar always says that he trains humans, in fact.
If they don't behave like us they are ready to put them down. Ceaser says they should be treated like dogs. So he trains humans. Look at that dog's instinct. It was ready to work and rounded up all those sheep without even training.. amazing.

And the point is, showing yourself anxiety doesn't help at all, must find the reason and learn the method to fix problem, its good to see her find a professional trainer like Cesar, now she get better.
She is really anxious. I don't think she would be great at follow thru with all the instructions.
you sit on a keyboard judging peoples anxiety and say they need help.
