    I can absolutely vouch for sugars making one drowsy...I had gestational diabetes. If I ate a pop tart for example...I would end up dozing off on the couch with zero energy within 20 minutes. Great informative video, as always!

      I'm trying to get this through my mom's head. May have to print something out for her. She's ALWAYS complaining about her sleepiness (it's bad), but she won't control her blood sugar (has T2 diabetes. It's so frustrating, and I'm tired of listening to her complaints or watching her doze off while I'm talking to her.

    Such great information. Amazing what inflammation can do. My skin, blood pressure, weight has improved drastically since March when I transitioned in to low crab high good fat eating. Now I am eating mostly grassfed meat, eggs, mushrooms, spinach, avocados, aged cheese, nuts, wild caught fish, Asparagus and heavy cream. I love your videos I am also an engineer!! I am investing in my health with food and working out. Would be intrested in a low carb program.

    Wow this sounds like me. Great video! I learn so much from your channel. I was on metformin to help get pregnant, I have pcos, and when I stopped taking it after my baby was born I felt a huge difference in my body. Tired, weird shaky when I don’t eat or if I have something with refined sugar in it, super thirsty and always hungry. Also I got more bloated almost instantly. I thought my symptoms might be because of my hypothyroidism and all the hormonal changes of having a baby and nursing. I recently purchased the 4 week custom meal plan, just waiting to have my review call on the 15th! I’m super excited to see what kind of meal plan I get. If I can manage all my symptoms with diet instead of being on medication or be able to be on lower doses of medication that would be fantastic!! Not to mention Just feeling better and working on my body composition goals is an actual reality. Thanks Christine:)

    Hey Christine, loving the budget 6week shred, will be contacting you in a few weeks for a consult but I will say this video is SHOCKING because I am experiencing everything except sugar cravings that you mentioned in this video.
    I have resorted to taking pre-workout just to make it through my 12 hour work days at the hospital, the fatigue and brain fog is so real, my solution in the past to all of this was to... eat more carbs.. but now that I'm dialed in with my macros that doesn't work anymore! My acne improved for a few days in the beginning of phase 2 but now is worse than ever (cutting out dairy starting yesterday), and mercifully my bloating/IBS symptoms have improved significantly.
    My workouts consist of 2 hour sessions of heavy olympic weightlifting (training for meet in September) workouts 3x/wk and have seen a pretty substantial body recomposition to where my goals are pretty much met- I fit back into my clothes and look more ripped than ever!
    My concern about keto or low carb is where is that energy going to come from if I don't have that much fat to start with? Ketosis is great but what about when I run out of fat to change over to energy! It's been years since nursing school nutrition class so I apologize for sounding ignorant but this is all new to me! Any input would be much appreciated and looking forward to finishing strong on the shred in a few weeks!!

    I love your videos as they are so informative and well-researched! However, I find it rather casual to call diabetes, lactose intolerance and celiac disease simply "signs" of carbs overload. They are long-term healrh conditions in their own right! With their complex management plan. I feel it would be more appropriate to cover these in a separate video with their links to carb overeating - but not the other way around.

    I eat so many carbs, it's shocking when I log my meals. But I've been at the same weight for 2 years, and its considered normal weight for my height and age. However I bloat all the time!!! I also have IBS, and I'm allergic to dairy, chicken, and pork. So I think I'm bloated due to: excess carb intake, processed foods, and eating too much at one sitting. Probably need to start being mindful of my macros and calories, and eat portioned meals, and get rid of processed foods. Thanks Christine for the info, you're inspiring me to re-evaluate my current food habits.

    I highly recommend anyone with IBS/IBD do a FODMAP elimination with a dietician’s help. It’s intimidating but you don’t have to stay on low FODMAP, it’s for figuring out what you react to so that you can limit and avoid those foods. I found that I malabsorb fructose which is hard because I love fruit but now I know why I felt sick after eating a banana 😞

    I have been struggling with being prediabetic for the last several years. I have learned alot over the last few years about how my body reacts to certain foods. I do really well when I eliminate all sugars from my diet (at about week 2 I always loose all cravings for sugars), but I am also almost never hungry once I reach this stage. I know that I handle Intermittent Fasting really well. One problem that I have is getting in enough macro nutrients during my IF days. Not sure that I need to be concerned with this part if I am only doing 1 to 2 IF days each week. I have found over the last year that I feel so much better when I am on a lower carb protocol but feel a keto protocol is not the right choice either. I just started week 3 of the paleo 6 week shred and I have been feeling alot better. I do not feel or look as puffy, my energy and depression are somewhat better, although I am still struggling. The main thing I have going right now is that I am so tired of feeling ill and right now my progress and having a plan to focus on has really helped me get really motivated. I started on May 14th with just watching my calorie intake and that was a huge first step, and then starting the shred and that s when I started noticing a difference on how I felt physically. Since May 14th I have lost approximately 20lbs. I have also gotten back into the gym and started back on trying to train my cardio and do some strength training.

    I have been eating so many carbs(being hispanic most meals involve rice,pasta,tortillas) & have gained so much weight after giving birth. Before having my Baby girl I believe I would have fallen into a mesomorph. I am 5'0 and weighed 115 lb. I did have a faster metabolism and was thin but with some "meat". I do admit my Food intake was much healthier than it is now, I would bloat occasionally but only when I would overeat. As of right now I am always bloated. I feel most symptoms you were mentioning; tiredness, depression. I am currently weighing around 145 lb.What can I do to lose the excess weight I have gained and to avoid the bloating? Also is it possible to get your metabolism back to where it was at the beginning?

    All of my dad's kids have some sort of autoimmune/gastro-intestinal type disease. I have Celiac disease, my brother has Crohn's disease, my older sister has IBS, and my little sister has GERD (but none of my older brothers from my mom's first marriage have anything really). We were all diagnosed as older teenagers/young adults (but I had symptoms throughout my life). My grandmother on my dad's side also had Celiac disease and got Alzheimer's at a fairly young age, like late 30s if I remember right, and declined steadily for a good while until she passed away. Autoimmune diseases are NO JOKE!! Also Celiac disease is a little more than your body not being able to digest and process gluten.... Your body literally attacks itself. If something isn't right go speak to your doctor! Writhing in pain for a good hour or more after eating is NOT NORMAL! Throwing up after you eat is NOT NORMAL! Being in a constant state of diarrhea or constipation is NOT NORMAL! I'll get off my soap box now ;) It does feel a little weird to be talking about these conditions and diseases on this video though. It would definitely be beneficial to have a separate video deep diving into healthy living with these diseases or even individual videos about the more common ones.

    • @meera2531
      @meera2531 5 лет назад

      Gluten and dairy intolerance cause leaky gut, which causes them to enter the blood stream, where the immune system cannot differentiate between the gluten and dairy molecules and thyroid cells and so it destroys the latter too. That's basically Hashimotos thyroiditis.
      Those with sluggish thyroids should cut out dairy.
      Also dairy contains a lot of estrogen.

    I do have a massive weakness for sweet things. I find that even when I'm counting my macros and sticking to clean eating for several weeks, sweet cravings is something I have not been able to shake off which bothers me cuz it leads me to eating desserts and then I feel like my blood sugar fluctuates and I need to have more dessert.

    type 2 is caused by insulin resistance. Combining too much fat with carbs, the fats dull the insulin receptors, and you arent as insulin sensitive

      Start by cooking everything you eat and tracking it. Once you see how many each macro is start to lower the carbs by 5% and increase either the protein or fats each time.

    • @meera2531
      @meera2531 5 лет назад

      Track your food... Carbs 5% (20 gms or less), Protein 20-25% the rest in natural, healthy Fats. I was also prediabetic, keto is the way.

      Gluten and dairy intolerance also cause leaky gut, which causes them to enter the blood stream, where the immune system cannot differentiate between the gluten and dairy molecules and thyroid cells and so it destroys the latter too. That's basically Hashimotos thyroiditis.
      Those with sluggish thyroids should cut out dairy.
      Also dairy contains a lot of estrogen.

    Uum... Insulin resistance is too much fat blocking insulin receptors. Treating it with a low carb diet risks causing diabetes. You can lower blood glucose by lowering carbs but you're making the problem worse. You SHOULD be able to eat carbs without insulin resistance. And you can do that with a low fat diet. Not everyone is the same though. People should monitor themselves while trying various diets. And starches RAISE serotonin. Everyone knows about low carb bitchiness...for that reason. This is so well known that I wonder how anyone can possibly say that carbs lower serotonin with a straight face. There's even a book called Potatoes Not Prozac for dealing with depression. I notice though that you don't differentiate between sugar carbs and starches. This is a HUGE error. Sugar is poison, true that, but starches are our food. We've been eating them for two million years. And they do not make us fat until we eat them with FAT. See Okinawans, who used to eat 85% of their diet as sweet potatoes and are the longest lived, thin, people ever recorded. But body building isn't about longevity anyway, is it... It's for short term appearance. Believe me, I lament this fact every day.
