1. Organised day and time 2. Dressing in a way that suits you; your body shape and colour theory 3. Attentive to detail 4. Speaking eloquently 5. Using intentional gestures - hand movements / body movements 6. Taking care of hygiene + emotional and mental hygiene 7. Self love
My mother's mother was very elegant. I especially remember her being organized, disciplined, and knowing how to dress herself in a way that suited her. She had a very distincitive, natural style. She was also kind and wise. I miss her.
My Grandma was just like that. She didn't make and plate food - she prepared and served. She didn't get dressed, she put on an outfit. Even when she took out garbage, she prepared herself to go out. Skirt, blouse and shoes matched, face clean and hair combed. She even cleaned her glasses. And all that for walking 100 meters to the garbage bin.
I especially loved the point about boundaries👍🏻 One more thing I would like to add to is that having elegance also means being able to compliment people and boost someone's morale when is needed and that would mean having empathy. So Empathy is also a trait of an elegant woman in my opinion.
Dear Jamila, In accordance with your lovely appearence I would add: a kind, gentle and calm voice - but without any tinge of superiority or arrogance (which sadly is part of some other „elegant“ women on RUclips …). You embody elegance in and out ❤
0:41 1. being organized/disciplined (Make your bed-book) 2:35 2. wear what suits you (wear clothes according to your body type, undertone, "who you are", how to incorporate trends) 6:11 3. being attentive to details (beauty hidden in details) 8:03 4. speaking eloquently (reading, reading, reading) 9:52 5. using intentional gestures (try filming yourself to see if you have any poor habits, work on more composed ones) 12:23 6. taking care of hygiene (physical as well as mental hygiene) 14:11 7. being in love with yourself❤️ These are just my quick notes. I reccommend watching the whole video as there are many good tips. I think i need to work on all of these but i'll start with discipline and self-love💞
Dear Jamila, i don't usually comment, but i sincerely wanted to thank you for your videos, who are very inspiring and have helped me to be the woman i want to be. Lots of love from France 😊 ❤️
Thank you for this great video :-) i think elegant women speak very positively as well. They dont trash talk other ladies or complain as much. They comment on positive things and generally praise others.
So, I live in a rural area, work a couple days a week in town. Today is a day off and I dressed quite casually- jeans, sweater and cardigan. I looked in the mirror and promptly changed into a more put together outfit and now feel much better. No one will see me but I feel a zillion times better! I will save the gardening clothes for actual time in the garden :) These things are important.
I don't yet consider myself elegant, one thing that hit home was the self discipline. Something I consider elegant is deep listening and honoring someone else's authenticity with compassion and kindness
Funny, I absolutely agree. I had dream about Jamila last night, I was an unprepared ballerina in a group performance ready to freak out except somehow I ended up beside her when I wasn't supposed to she was prima ballerina and whispered me through the moves to get through the performance. Her work is so valuable.
Wonderful definition of elegance, Jamila. Every single aspect was covered accurate and flawlessly. You're absolutely right and I agree with you that self respect is quintessential to build a strong foundation as human beings on a daily basis since an elegant lady will never humiliate or denigrate anyone around her under any circumstance. The way people express themselves and treat others is far more revealing than the garments they wear. Let proper education, good manners and etiquette do the talking. I'm so grateful you are here helping us become the best version of ourselves. Thank you so much 🙏🏻💖
I love how you always emphasize that the most important is actually self-love and self-care in different aspects of it - because through it, we can truly become who we want to. And that everything is learnable. Thank you so much for this breakdown and inspiration!
there’s a small thing about your videos but makes a large difference that makes me really listening and getting each word is that your way of speaking! it’s really soft and calm ! much love for you jamila ❤️
This was well-needed today Jamila. I've been feeling a little down, and with that overwhelmed and also underwhelmed at times. Thank you for taking the time to make this video for us
Dear Jamila, your channel is so refreshing amoung all the content on RUclips. So timelessly elegant and beautiful. Everything about your attitude is inspiring. As ethnic Azerbaijani myself I’m so proud of you even everything you’re talking about is so universal ❤️and consider myself super lucky to discover your channel. Need to purchase your books during my next trip to Baku and dreaming of getting your personal courses if you offer them ofc. Take care of yourself and THANK YOU for brightening my day. Lots of love ❤
Thank you so much for the great tips on elegance. Since I have followed you, I have grown so much in my femininity and confidence. I have taken your insightful advice and thoughts and I am loving the person I have become and excited to learn and keep growing as a young elegant lady. Thank you so much once again Jamila 🌼 I really appreciate it ☺️.
Your videos are so interesting because everything you teach is what I learned through my Nana who grew up in New York in the 1920s and 30s. Pure class and elegance. I miss her greatly and I'm glad I learned all this from someone who lived in during the most elegant period in New York City.
Elegance and Etiquette can be summed up as dressing and behaving with dignity, consideration and respect for the situation and people within it, whilst still being your authentic self.
The fact that Jamila mam wasn’t probably keeping well and still chose to make this beautiful video for us ❤Thankyou so much mam such beautiful content as well ❤
This was a good upload; you are definitely very composed in every way. I would love to enrol in a school where they teach me the whole package. Not only the etiquettes but also what you talked about. How to dress, how to speak and how to carry yourself.
Smooches Jamila 💋 Thank you so much for your videos. I enjoyed them very much and I learn a lot. One thing I want to add about being an elegant woman is that we do not use profanity. When I hear a woman using profanity, it does not look good on her and it certainly doesn't sound good. And it takes away from her beauty. 💋
Jamila, What a beautiful name, and when I view your videos. You ALWAYS speak and portray yourself in such an elegant fahion. In other words, you are the EPITOME of an elegant person. So, when it comes to elegance You Know WhatYour Talking About plus, every other topic, that you cover. By the way, today just happens to be ❤ DAY..... So let me say " Be my Valentine, even for a moment." HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!! ❤
Hi, Jamila, This is possibly one of the best videos you have presented. I must thank you because this video has brought to my attention details I have let go since I retired from work. I should now apply myself in order to return to who I really am. I like a timeless and classic style, and that is what I have in my closet because I dressed professionally for work. I should now find items to fit my current status of a retired lady, still with the same timeless and classic style. I love your presentations. Thank you!
TY so much for putting this so succulently and beautifully. 13min mark on mental hygiene and the energy aura/boundaries that maintains calm. Also, the self-love that creates this elegant state of being is so well put here. It is,to me, a loving self-respect that creates a peaceful openness.
Very good content. I specially liked the sentence that being elegant starts by showing respect for yourself. I would also add that showing off obvious logos and expensive brands is not elegant. Real elegance is much more subtle and not related to consumption capacity, up to a certain point.
Dear Jamila! You are a genius! I was searching for the key to elegance, but never could really verbalise it. You gave me the answer to what I was looking for- beeing organised. So from the buttom of my heart thank you. Hugs from Budapest ❤❤❤
Your videos are the only ones I downloaded offline and never deleted because I keep coming back whenever I forget something since your content has a lot of lessons and you are my favorite. ❤️
Dear Jamila, I never write comments, but I want to say that I very much cherish your energy and wisdom. We are what we look at, and I don't consume any other than uplifting content, and this is my favourite of all. So lovely, thank you!
The élégance is not only the way we are dressed it s a attidude ! Soft féminine way , to be carefull about the way we express ourself to people , to be lady like in a naturel way like you are the perfect exemple of élégance
Your voice is so soothing. Others have asked about you making separate meditation videos. You are needed by many of us due to stress by world events Thank you
Thank you for this fresh perspective on elegance. If you don't mind sharing about your outfit in this video and the shoes and accessories you chose and how you came to select it to line up with you and how it speaks to your personal elegance so we can think through some ideas on how to choose what fits for us personally to build our own elegant style.
