  • This orphaned Baby Kestrel falcon was rescued and now I am taking care of it. This video covers days 3,4 and 5 of this process. Make sure you watch the other videos.
How To Falconry: Raising a baby falcon Day 3-4-5. This little wild bird was rescued and given to me to raise. I will feed this baby kestrel falcon pigeon meat again. It is important to give this bird some water to drink using a syringe. While most kestrel falcons immigrate in the winter, the common kestrel falcon in Africa doesn't.

How to raise a baby falcon?
Caring for orphaned wild birds is demanding and requires a lot of knowledge. Once this baby falcon grows fully, I will have to train it to fly, and then hunt before I release her back to nature.
I used a syringe to give the falcon some water. Raising falcon chicks seems demanding as I have to feed them 2-4 times a day and keep an eye on them constantly. It might be a good idea to see how much does this bird weighs to see how heavy is she.
Aside from hatching falcon eggs, this process is similar to breeding falcons in captivity. You never stop learning, so I spend a great deal of time watching videos about falcon breeding farms and individual falcon breeders in Germany, Canada, The Middle East, etc.
A Falcon rising in the morning is always super hungry and loud.
Common Kestrels live in Africa, Europe, and Asia. They reach the east coast of North America occasionally.
Raising Falcons: In other videos, you can learn about raising a peregrine falcon.
In another video, I will discuss Falcon Vs Eagle. Observations:
Kestrel falcon sound: Kestrel falcon adults sound much sharper than other falcons like the Peregrine Falcon. The Kestrel falcon chicks sound almost like every other falcon chick I heard (Peregrine, Lanner, Gyre, etc).
Kestrel Falcon Pet: No! I will try to not treat this baby falcon as a pet. I have created a nest box for this kestrel falcon chick to mimic its natural nest. Unfortunately, these baby kestrel falcons are for sale by teenagers who hijack the nests and sell the falcon chicks.
Some of these chicks are rescued, raised, and trained and eventually released back to nature. I will also compare raising Kestrel baby falcons to Baby Peregrine Falcons in future videos. If you like to see how to raise and train an adult falcon, watch my other videos.
Notes: Falconry is not for everyone. To raise and train a falcon you need to set up a Falcon Training Camp, and you have to give up holidays and days off. These birds are sensitive and require lots of caring, and skipping one day of training or feeding is a mistake you will regret.
In Canada, the USA, and Europe, you must be a certified Falconer to own falcons. An apprenticeship of 2-3 years with a certified falconer is a requirement. You should look into how to get a falconry license in your area. To learn how to get started in falconry, you need to have the time and understand how much does falconry cost.

It takes about 60 days for a falcon to start flying from the day the egg hatches.
