Another great vid. That "you sound like a Salvation Army guy ringing the bell" , during the Ridge ad had me rolling. Steve's layout is top notch, being able to fit so much in that space.
Hi DJ. Nice to see you having some fun. I wanted to mention the West Island model RR club in Hicksville NY. They do have a website and the are some ok RUclips video’s. Another great looking and operating RR. Living on LI I have heard of it but never seen it in person so 2weeks ago I made a call and I was invited down to see it and also operate during a secession. They handed my a cab and put me to work. Another Northeastern RR just like the Lehigh and Keystone. I think it’s deserving of Ins of your well done videos and worth the trip. Take a look maybe make a call, info is on the website. The West Island Model RR. You won’t be disappointed.
Hi DJ, Another great video my friend, thank you for sharing it. Yes Steve's Union Railroad is fantastic and hopefully someday when the moon and stars align, I might be able to attend one of his ops session. I met Steve a few years ago at the Greenberg show in Monroeville, great guy. On a side note, sending you an email with some info. Cheers, Rich S.
It's wild to see a single MP15 pulling that many cars, I won't say it's impossible for N but any kind of grade and that's a no. Steve's layout is amazing.
Let me ask you something, years ago when a train had to stop quickly, the engineer would apply the brakes and run the risk of derailment, but now when they go into emergency there is a good chance they will not derail. How does this happen? Can you tell us about it without violating any rules?
Risk is still there. an emergency application will drastically apply brakes to all cars. Problem is a loaded car will take longer to stop than an empty flat car, and the tension can cause derailment. But we are trained to apply MINIMIUM REDUCTION (5-8lbs) first, which gets all cars on same page, and THEN go to emergency application.
The layout is good, no doubt; but everything could be improved (engines, cars and buildings) from much more weathering. Many of the rolling stock look right of of the box; as in, they look like model cars, not actual cars.

Ha! Thanks for watching!!!
Than you very much. The aisles had to suffer but in the end it all worked out
A LOT of operation in this small space. It was a great deal of fun to operate. Photographs HUGE as well!
Glad you enjoyed your visit
Fantastic insights from real world engineers. Thanks so much * subscribed *
Welcome aboard!
@@djstrains Thanks...
I love this DJ! Thanks for the video.
How fun. Just goes to show, you can adapt to any space.
Great Jet Ski footage at the point. Looks like you and your daughter hare having a blast!
Always!
Enjoyed the video. getting back in my 10x13 train room after surgery.
Good luck!
I love the less is more strategy. Modeling the Pennsy in Michigan in 1968 I get to use that a lot! What's ballast?
Great video and Stephen definitely has a beautiful layout
Thank you I really appreciate that

Thank you very much, my layout is 2 level and I would definitely need more power to pull that train upgrade
@@stephenjohnson26 I just know from my own usage, a single MP15 hits any kind of grade and it's all she wrote.
@@keonisan In model railroad terms I understand. On the real railroad I have made MP15's do some amazing things
@@stephenjohnson26 It takes me 6 mp15's to tackle my club layout with an ore train, the grade is so steep.
@@keonisan That sounds about right, I have a 2 1/2% grade on my layout and I usually run 5 MP's on anything over 15 cars
11:00 just explained ADHD in train terms 😅😂
I'd like to see the track plans, thanks
Go to my website www.djstrains .com
Look for the menu and track plans
It’s at bottom of page
Thanks

I have a young daughter too DJ and I know exactly how you feel😉
That’s awesome. Yeah, no matter what I accomplish in life, the only thing I want on my tombstone will be “He loved that little girl “

If you live close, you can join the club and help with that.
