You're a hell of a friend, helping out dude like that. Y'all damn near got it ready to fire up. Can't wait to see how it runs.
I’m doing the same with my caddy 1991 fleetwood Brougham D’elegance going with a 7.4L LS swap. Great video and valuable information dude.
Me, I'm 72 and it gets intimidating to do the swaps like this. Hear about them all day long but the chances if a old guy learning the wiring is just overwhelming. I just can't see the colors anymore and thats a big one to get past. I hope she popes off like it was never shut off. Good luck on the finish and good wrenching... I did it for about forty years as I messed with long hauling and timber cutting as a kid. I still pulled wrenches on the rigs I drove and swapped engines in my daily drivers. I tore them up fast in them days. Used to race in the morning and be building a engine for when the one I was driving coughed a lung up, come home and before the pipes were totally chilled, have another buttoned up. I ran em like I stole them and it won me a lot of races
The good thing about the way this harness is set up is there was literally only 1 wire that had to be hooked up. There were those 2 red wires that went to the starter, I used the stock starter wire from the car(the one that goes on the little stud) and then just that one red wire to the fuse box. If you can swap a small block in to something, you can swap this in. Especially if you buy a harness. I believe in you lol
I’m in the process of putting in a 5.3 in a four door 85 fleetwood this is hands down the best information I’ve found so far! Probably watched this 6 times ,also I love the video clarity and editing it’s like watching a Michael Bay movie 😁
Hahaha, thanks man 🤙
What are you using for transmission
Damn that caddy is clean for the age, I love the build, can't wait to see it run
Love this build ,love the Cadillac, wanted to do a 5.3 Ls motor swap in my brougham coupe just like this car, keep it up
Looking to do a ls4 in my deville as well,
@@brycethoreson9216 why LS4?
@@diduck6878 because ls4s came in tranverse fwd cars already so it'd be more straightforward
Finally someone made a mechanical video on this Cadi. Amazing swap bro.
massive undertaking, looks like your skill set is up for the challenge. it’s awesome you’re breathing new life into this beast. I haven’t gotten this major with my classic, but I do odds and ends to keep it running. Great ambition on your part. Much success to you for it all coming together.
That car is gonna be as dope as some of the beats you pick. :D
Great video. It looks like your buddy there has a slug stuck to the top of his head.... Lol
gearhead1234 I’m not even hating but I thought it was the space balls helmet
This is gonna be sweet 👍🏽 dont see enough ls swaps in caddies
That's what I have been saying
Im doing a ls caddy swap right now in same 84 white coupe. I have a few questions? Do you have to reweld the mounts? And
...
WHOA a saturday nite post and on the Coupe De Evil to boot !!! NICE
I'm a cadillac fan! Searched tha tube for a '92 la swap on one cause a super clean onw for sale near me. So glad to see your doing one also!
I need to know who his contact is for the 6 liter cause I need one. Great video as always. You are one heck of a friend! The world needs more like you👍.
#gottaloveawagon
#lsswaptheworld
Thanx for the video.... I’m doing a Cadillac coupe as well.... there aren’t many ls swap Cadillac videos on here.... and here is a damn near play by play video lol... ur a life saver bro... I appreciate the video and I’m looking forward to the next videos and final finished product.... I’ll b sure to subscribe
👍👍👍👍👍👍...Same here, 84 Fleetwood Coupe. I'm dropping a 5.3 and this video is definitely doing justice. As Marcus mentioned, there aren't that many videos on this subject. This one here is truly a life saver 💯 #Perfect Timing
That Caddy is going to be slick as shit!! Awesome!!!!!!
I wish you guys could drop a 6,2 L3 in my 05 trailblazer
Damn I need a build like this already 😂
Looks to be a very practical swap; especially that the original 4.1L HT Eight's about the same physical dimensions. The one thing that bugged is why welding the engine mounts in vs bolting 'em on, in case a mount goes bad and, needs to be replaced down the line.......
Just cut the welds? Idk why people are having such a hard time grasping that concept lol like 5 other people have asked that. To me cutting those welds is WAY easier than fishing those bolts through the frame. That fucking sucks
Following this closely, doing a similar swap. FYI, frame motor mounts for an 80-89 chevy pick up are a direct bolt-in placing the LS within an inch of a stock "corporate" 5.7 (if you cannot find those) and about $20 or so each.
Gonna have to call it "coupe de evil " when it starts tearing up the streets
I like to see the video of the cadillac 6.0
Well i feel like an idiot..just now read the top of the cardboard lol
At least it’s better than that piece of shit HT4100.
Every day we hustlin
Nice job.one day i will have a LS swap in my caddy
Wish I would of took video of my build. I’ve got a 77 Coupe DeVille with a 5.3 lm7 swap, Texas speed torque v2 cam, 243 heads, Holley Sniper intake, 102mm tb, Holley terminator x. Great video!
That sounds sick, man. I wish we would have had more time with this car. So many things could've been improved on it. Especially a cam swap would've been great. I love the TSP Torquer cams. My buddy Mike down in Texas has a Silverado SS with a Torquer cam and that thing sounds SO pissed off lol I love it
I got a 85 coupe. Wanna put a LS in so bad..4100 sucks
What did u getvur transmission from?
Caddi looking sweet! Josh's LS Shop lol
LS swapped 2 door Caddy I like it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes thank you so much your videos are very helpful and this is what I've been waiting for.
I’m planning a similar build this is so helpful
If you a 4L60 or 4L65, they are the same length as a TH700R4 which came stock in the later years of this body style when they were using the SBC. You can grab a driveshaft from one of those and it should go right in. If you are using a 4L80, I would get one of those shafts anyways ans shorten it, as it will have the proper yokes on it. You will just need the 4L80 slip yoke.
Please don’t leave that air filter down like that! I had my truck like that and in a big rain storm I sucked water and broke rods.
Very good point 🤙
Know a guy who's wife was driving his car with an aftermarket CIA that was low, she went thru some water from a big fast rain and hydro locked n bents rods.
Thats going to be one fast caddy
Grade A. Thing's gon be silly. I like it!
Only downside is when you have to replace the motor mounts your going to have hell removing the old ones because there welded in place.
Welds aren't that difficult to cut, just time consuming
You could get dual electric fans out of a 99-06 silverado shits plug and play if your using the factory ls harness
There's a little aftermarket for caddy big blocks. That'd be a cool build. Torque monsters
Surprised no one else mentioned this already but,......can get around VATS w/o tuning. Watched several vids on it. Takes about 30-40 mins and need another running LS vehicle.
Time for a 6.0 in Goldie hawn
You can get around the VATS if you have the donor vehicle running and unplug the BCM while its running it cant turn on VATS. You will have a trouble code for "no communication with BCM" but it run without tuning.
Good information
Thanks
I used the muscle car oil pan and the 94 fleetwood clamshell moter mounts to the frame on the rear 3 bolt holes on the frame
At 7:10 you guys were pretty much exactly right on both parts but you're going to have to trim the shroud I'm sure you figured that out by now
So bad ass 6.0 caddy 👌🏼
Great job commentary and all helped alot thanks GOD BLESS!!!!!
Your fan is a good start but be sure and put a proper shroud on that forces all the air through the fan area instead of allowing ambient stuff to come around the edges. It will make a difference at lower speeds and idling.
Thats exactly why I went with that one versus the smaller ones he had lying around. This one covered the most surface area of the radiator without much work. But I appreciate the advice 🤙
Better hope you never have to replace the engine mounts now. Love the project though!
The engine will need a new rod before those mounts need replacing lol
I would trim a few inches off of the upper radiator hose where it connects to the radiator to get some of those kinks out.
Yeah, for sure
This is great because this type of Cadillac likes to suck the gasoline up Like There's No Tomorrow computer controlled fuel injection is an awesome upgrade if you also do a big ass Turbo
Love the project, def gonna be sick when it’s done, but why weld the clam shells on ? It’s gonna suck to replace them when they wear out.
You know, you're the third person to bring that up and I can't help but wonder what you guys are doing to wear your motor mounts out so fast? lol those should last 5-10 years no problem behind a stock engine. And it'll take 10 minutes to cut those welds lol
My buddy has a 2012 suburban, he doesn't beat the crap out of the truck at all. He ended up doing 2 mounts within a year. Its a hell of a lot easier to unbolt a mount than it is to shove a cut off wheel inside the engine compartment while the engine is in.
Watching it again and again got the power train and the truck the car in carport not mixed yet
The Rasta hat is killin me lol
For driveshafts, I use D&R Driveline in GR, 3" shaft with the 4l80 yoke is right around 300 bucks, alot cheaper than what most places in Central/West Michigan charge.
DTS in Ionia is usually super reasonable on prices, never been to D&R
@@SniderTron3000 I live in Ionia lol.
They quoted me 375 for the same shaft, which isn't bad either, but 75 bucks is 75 bucks lol
@@TheDrivewayEngineer huh, idk. The last driveshaft we had them make was $200. It wasn't anything special, but $200 for a custom length ds with all new everything felt like a fair deal in my heart haha
I got homies at dts, they hooked it up for me
Gotta say I love your Chanel, I just bought a wrecked Tahoe to start the process of swapping my 84 sedan Deville. What fuel pump did you use? Should I upgrade the factory lines? What’s the best stand alone harness? Should I wait until I get it running in the car to do a cam swap?
That's so cool now I know what motor swap I'm doing in mine i have a 86 Cadillac fleetwood 4 door I'm working on she has the original 307
You can trim the plastic shroud to fit. And it will look factory. Or grab one from a g body car
The only issue that I forgot to mention was his cold air intake would've hit the fan. That was another factor that made us remove it lol
Rx7 in the background teasing!
About damn time iv been dyeing to see the caddy lmao
Great progress U get there LOOKS GOOD !!!
Don't you burn your eyes while looking at a video of welding without a helmet while watching? LOL Anddd..."no gloves bro?" ... Ok my first time on the channel and im liking it...lots of actual work and fab. Nice shop by the way looks functually beautiful. I subscribed.
Welcome to the shit show lol
should have done the terminator x system! A Good throttle cable i used was off a 95ish truck with the throttle body in the middle of the intake. nice long tb cable
Haha, that's what we used. The stock one from Chris' 97 C1500 fit great
Gotta love the demand for these.. They were worth a lot less money years ago, but now since there's an aftermarket, everyone inflates the prices artificially..
Do you have a write on everything needed in detail for this swap im looking to do a diy on my caddy
I would like to know what fuel pump setup did you use on this swap?
its about time... i was going to be the first one to try an do this . good vid man can't wait to see it done an what are yall going to do with it after, for sale? chop the top, rims?
Its just gonna be a cruiser once it's done. In 2 days he's gonna drive it to Colorado for work. And then after that I don't know what his plan is
Can you please do a video of the extra wires u had to hook up I have the same exact car and have a 6.0 in mind as well I'm waiting on my harness from psi conversion I just need to know exactly where those extra wires go
I'll be sure to cover it when we get there 🤙
@@SniderTron3000 Thank you so much 👍
@@SniderTron3000 what's going on? What block mounts did you use for the swap? Swap plates? Thanks in advance
@@johnd.dupree8614 just typical sbc mounts and ICT sbc to LS adapters
@@SniderTron3000 Appreciate it 💯😎
Use the pink coil wire for ignition
Just stumbled across your channel, Ain't GOD good😁! Subbed and looking for a caddy update.. I wanna see it run!!!
Looks good, I just pulled my 5.3 th350 in my nova yesterday and had put in a lq9/4l65e by 2am this morning. ....lol
Should have went 4l80e
@@james10739 it's built to handle 650hp
I mean as long as there is a warranty but I assume you'll still have to pull it
Great video man!! Cars gonna be awesome.
I can't wait to hear her engine roar. Also I've subscribed to your channel.
What year Cadillac is it
Legendary big lac big motor
I traded my impala for a 2003 Yukon XL with a 3in lift, 33s, leather, sunroof and towing package. It's the 5.3. It only needs to pull my 84 Monte. Glad to see the caddy back on here. Keep up the good work bud!
What motor mounts and what headers did you use? I just bought a 78 that I want to drop my lq9 in
Got an '84 and this swap could be in the works. Noticed that it appears that the engine could be sat back another couple of inches. Any reason(s) this did not happen??
THANKS
Oh yeah, it could go back damn near 4-5 inches. That was based off mostly how the manifolds fit and we wanted to keep everything easy to get too, like getting the bolt in the back of the head.
this is so insane
What motor mounts will be reccomended TIA bud
I've seen the black step side before.
Hey bud what shifter linkage you used i. Dont have the stock one only the z bracket TIA bro
Nice toilet seat cover hat...
This is the stuff I like to see👍..
Loved this build so much I subbed. Oh and also talked to my uncle about his coupe deville and old Chevy truck that have just been sitting around. Said I could have them for doing a little work on his old farmalls can’t wait to start my build. On those adapter mounts did you bolt the original caddy mounts to them or what did you use
We used ICT Billet SBC to LS adapters with stock sbc style clamshell mounts to the stock Caddy lower mounts
Awesome thanks for the info. Hope you guys get the trans issue fixed and get that boat out on the road and make it rip
I wanna do this swap with a turbo, in a 83 coupe deVille lowrider
Looking to put a ls4 in my 88 deville, looking ror a harness
PSI Conversions is what you want
Good job my man....
I WANT to see it run
The kind of sensible swap you could not legally perform in California!
What radiator did you guys use for the cadi
Y'all need to shorten up that upper radiator hose. Asking for issues.
Did it originally have the dreaded HT4100?
Would that motor setup work for the 88 coupe deville fwd
Very cool project 👌
Could I pay all too put a 6.2 in my 90 deville ?
I have question can u do my car I have 4 door cadillac 83 need engine swap how much will u charge
What the heck is that thing he has around his head?
Michael Porter It's a dreadlock cap. He has dreads.
I have a 2004 cadillac deville that needs a difffirent type of motor . What type of motor do you recommend for a cadillac deville northstar 2004?
I'd just put another Northstar in it, tbh. I'ts already set up for it, they makegood power if that's what you're after and you won't have a fabrication headache trying to make motor mounts or transmission adapters, etc.
Did y’all use stock Cadillac motor mounts or got chevy clam shell & motor mounts?
Yeah, stock Caddy bottoms, sbc upper clamshells and ICT Billet adapter plate. If you can swing it I'd recommend the dirty dingo mounts. Easier, cleaner, and they feel more secure to me.
Cool stuff man 👍
I think it’s pretty cool basically taking a break from your projects and videoing others projects you’re helping out on 🤙🏻😎. Kind of want to see more then LS but I can’t say I don’t understand the appeal with them. But getting more diverse wouldn’t be bad. Feel free to tell me shut up and make my own channel for that crap 😆 hahaha
Haha, no worries at all. I would love to do other things. I really want to do some more stuff with Japanese engines at some point. I bought a 1JZ for an 88 Supra I had but sold it before I did anything with it lol
SniderTron 3000 all in due time man. Japanese stuff would be cool, I’m into that also, pretty easy stuff generally.
No need to weld mounts in the plates have holes to move the engine where it needs to be or at least put new ones in
The mounts on the frame were too narrow to bolt the engine in the car, so we had to slide them up about a half inch each side to get the bolts in
@@SniderTron3000 oh ok so it was to narrow got it keep up the great videos
Should have drilled new holes and bolted the motor mounts in. Now your going to have to completely remove the engine and grind all that shit off just to replace the old mounts once they wear out from the torque from the 6.0.
Yeah, in like 5‐10 years lol by then who gives a shit?
