Now that I'm in my 50s..........You know what, let's say 40s, I was looking for a new hobby and you were very helpful. Thank you both for all your videos.
Years ago I used to race nitro versions of these tunnel hulls. Really fast and fun to drive. Nice to see these in brushless. No more paddling (or swimming) out to retrieve a boat with a stalled motor. Great review!

That is an AWESOME little boat! Fast, good handling, brushless, inexpensive, and that self-righting feature is absolutely fantastic! Such a simple way to self-right. Imma do that design on any boat I build now!
looks like it does a good job of throwing the water back instead of wasting the power of the water by roosting it up into the air. Pretty impressive for a boat under 100!!!
The roostertail is created by a surface drive propeller. they are specifically designed to be more efficient when they run half out of the water. The propeller on this craft seems to be more of a subsurface drive which would explain the lack of a rooster tail. The surface drive propellers actually create lift which in turn alleviates some drag. It would be interesting to know how this boat would perform with a surface drive propeller. You would have to lift the outdrive system by about 5 mm to gain optimal results. I may just purchase this boat only to toy around with it to find out its maximum speed.
Tunnel huls are my favorite style of boat. They do run like they are on rails. And look really cool too. There used to be some nitro ones with real outboard engines

I echo the above, this video had me pull the trigger too. Had this in some lake chop and it shot in the air off a wave then dove in like a torpedo. Was expecting a retrieval operation would be needed, then it shot out of the water like a cannonball because I was still on the throttle. Amazing. I think I got the last deal on one of these at $85ish shipped, but it's worth $125 easy for its speed and durability.

I had one similar to that back in the 80's but it was a Dumas and made from lite-plywood and had a real glow engine outboard on it and it just screamed!
I can't believe how far batteries have come. As a kid in the 70s, even the non rechargeables would last a fraction of this long while putting out that much power!
Rooster tail is an inefficiency. It is thrust that is not directed into the most resistant part of the water thus lowering the overall push. Yet, it can be dependant on the hull construction. If you have rooster and your boat is perfectly plaining then in can be ok since there is less resistance from having less boat in the water. Working to find that happy medium on my old sv27. Finally got her back up and running. This little boat looks like a great value. Would you consider it hobby grade? What is the esc capable of handling.
Off topic for this video but just wanted to update you on the Boeing 787 $40 model. There is an acro mode that allows you to loop it and fly inverted. You still cant roll it but that's amazing. On the top right side of the transmitter is a button that when pressed puts you in the acro mode. Try it, it's a kick.
When I was younger, my dad used to take me down to the Hydroplane boat races...basically, the full-scale version of what you were running today. And like your boat, they were not very good in the turn, but like a road-runner on the straights. It's the design of that type of boat that gives it the speed. But as you noticed, anything other than perfectly flat water easily launches them into the air. It's worth a gaze at the Hydroplane (boat) article on Wikipedia.
Nice run guys. Really approve of you letting that spectator drive your boat. I live less than a 15 minute walk from a lake (and a 15 minute drive to an even bigger one) and have yet to get an RC boat. I think that what is holding me back is a fear of the boat getting out of range and then my not being able to get the boat back to shore. I think I need to wait for a model with a GPS fencing feature like you find on some RC Airplanes. Weak signal or low battery and the boat automatically heads home.
Put a metal race prop on it and show us the improvement, you gonna be surprised, its gonna be a Night and Day difference. Would make cool videoseries; Improve your boat, or improve your airplane/Car/etc. Cheers Nik

I had to go wading twice today because I got two boats hung up on those stupid swimming buoys they put out. I even had to use the rescue hook to snag Monica. Monica is my RC fishing trawler I restored. I still love my H100 RC boat. I accidentally hooked my WENCH motor up directly to a battery this morning and burned out something so now the WENCH wont go back in. I am so mad at myself. I also cannot get much forward speed out of my trawler but tons of power in reverse. I have no idea why.
I bought same RC boat like that for my husband and son. I also unbox before giving them. Which is my first video. haha I am more excited than them. It is really worth the price.

Yes messages to the RC sailors, I purchased this WL915 RC boat and after using it for a few days smoke came pouring out. I realize the hose that sucks up the water in the outboard motor was not connected and burned out my EFC.So I went on Banggood and ordered a new EFC. Boat would not bind So I got a hold of the company and told them they sent me a defective EFC and long story short I got the runaround. I finally got it to bind and it was working fine for a few more days and again smoke came pouring out and this time it sunk. They reimbursed me for the EFC but they won’t do anything about the boat. Since then I’ve noticed they’ve change the EFC to something different so they obviously knew there was a problem with it. So I’m really not happy because I invested in another battery and several new propellers.

The FT01 1 is also a Brushless motor. Gotta look at my charger manual, it flashes when I hook the battery up. Anyway that's a cool design, I agree! All the boats I've seen on RUclips have straps for the battery, does that work good? Maybe there's no tail because of the flat bar on the 'motor'. That's real cool how they added it with the rudder (turning wise)

Good choice,I’ve had that boat a while now , really enjoy it. Using an eflite battery w 1350 mAH 30c rather than the stock 1200mAH 20c has helped w runtimes. Really use it as a rescue boat for my other rc’s. Looking to get a traxxas spartan next.......

This would definitely carry a gopro no problem and what an awesome boat to be your first! I've run boats in the ocean before and have had no issues. Just remember to rinse it off with the hose when you get back home. If you really want to go above and beyond, run it in fresh water on your way back home for two minutes to really get the salt out of there. Have fun!!! 👍⚓😃
I have a big version of this and the whole fake outboard motor moves and the prop moves with it as well for super sharp turning even at low speed. Unfortunately I don't think they make it anymore.

These things might be good for boat drag racing. You could run 'em stock where reflexes and skill count the most and have an unlimited category where you beef up the ESC and motor and try 4 cell batteries, hotter props, etc.
This boat can be made to go faster very easily. The bottom has rounded edges. Rounded edges causes water to follow around and not shear away cleanly which causes drag. By glueing two 1/16” thick strips on to the widths and length of the bottom of the sponsons this can be remedied. The edges are to be square and sharp all around and even to edges of the tunnel. (Think square edged water skis)This helps with turning too. The boat will be faster with less “stick” to the water which can make it blow over with high head winds and chop.

The charger for this boat has an EU plug on it, not a US plug. How do you charge it as EU is on 220V and we are on 110V? Do you need a voltage converter to get it to charge?
I know it's late but did anyone ask the question weather or not you can use or fit a standard 3S 2200mah in this boat. I have a lot of these batteries I use for my planes.
I have the bigger version and this boat!I love these and have taken the mad flow which is a 17” version and upgraded to 30amp dynamite esc and 3000kv motor.Almost 50mph
I watched some videos on this boat with some simple mods...one mod is rising the prop higher and a prop upgrade..adds around 10 mph on 3s...which is very fasst for a boat this small...i also watched another video where guy installed a more powerful higher kv motor ,prop change and strut mod...looks to be 40 plus easy..
Love the vids. always good to see people enjoying the rc boating life. i dont know if you have tried out the feilun ft 11 or the 12 they are amazing bang for your buck boats and highly recommend.

This was a steerrix F1 Rocker that they must have got the hull design after they didn’t make it?I have the rocker and my best friend just got this boat and we did comparisons and only difference was they made it self right .I took and measured to make the rocker self right,as it has the closed side design for that verified to us it was same hull😀
when the boat wont do donuts, is because the prop will get to much air and do whats called cavitation...on my full size boat, if i turned to hard on the plain it would burble slow down and i would have to make it a larger turn to stop this action of the engine. this happens mostly with outboard engines like the fake one on this boat....but on boats that are in board with the off side rudder this stops most cavitation....hope this helps.......cheers from downunder!!

FYI,if you need replacement parts for this it was also a Mad Shark Rocker F1 and flexshaft as well as all parts available to repair!

I was going to get 1 of those but I went with the ft012. It's amazing what so little money can buy these days compared to 20 years ago.

The FT01 1 is also a Brushless motor. Gotta look at my charger manual, it flashes when I hook the battery up. Anyway that's a cool design, I agree! All the boats I've seen on RUclips have straps for the battery, does that work good? Maybe there's no tail because of the flat bar on the 'motor'. That's real cool how they added it with the rudder (turning wise)

Good choice,I’ve had that boat a while now , really enjoy it. Using an eflite battery w 1350 mAH 30c rather than the stock 1200mAH 20c has helped w runtimes. Really use it as a rescue boat for my other rc’s. Looking to get a traxxas spartan next.......

This would definitely carry a gopro no problem and what an awesome boat to be your first! I've run boats in the ocean before and have had no issues. Just remember to rinse it off with the hose when you get back home. If you really want to go above and beyond, run it in fresh water on your way back home for two minutes to really get the salt out of there. Have fun!!! 👍⚓😃

I have a big version of this and the whole fake outboard motor moves and the prop moves with it as well for super sharp turning even at low speed. Unfortunately I don't think they make it anymore.

That thing is awesome. I just bought that little jet boat today, but I added this one to things to consider. :)
These things might be good for boat drag racing. You could run 'em stock where reflexes and skill count the most and have an unlimited category where you beef up the ESC and motor and try 4 cell batteries, hotter props, etc.

This boat can be made to go faster very easily. The bottom has rounded edges. Rounded edges causes water to follow around and not shear away cleanly which causes drag. By glueing two 1/16” thick strips on to the widths and length of the bottom of the sponsons this can be remedied. The edges are to be square and sharp all around and even to edges of the tunnel. (Think square edged water skis)This helps with turning too. The boat will be faster with less “stick” to the water which can make it blow over with high head winds and chop.

The charger for this boat has an EU plug on it, not a US plug. How do you charge it as EU is on 220V and we are on 110V? Do you need a voltage converter to get it to charge?

I know it's late but did anyone ask the question weather or not you can use or fit a standard 3S 2200mah in this boat. I have a lot of these batteries I use for my planes.
I have the bigger version and this boat!I love these and have taken the mad flow which is a 17” version and upgraded to 30amp dynamite esc and 3000kv motor.Almost 50mph
I watched some videos on this boat with some simple mods...one mod is rising the prop higher and a prop upgrade..adds around 10 mph on 3s...which is very fasst for a boat this small...i also watched another video where guy installed a more powerful higher kv motor ,prop change and strut mod...looks to be 40 plus easy..

i dont know if you have tried out the feilun ft 11 or the 12 they are amazing bang for your buck boats and highly recommend.

This was a steerrix F1 Rocker that they must have got the hull design after they didn’t make it?I have the rocker and my best friend just got this boat and we did comparisons and only difference was they made it self right .I took and measured to make the rocker self right,as it has the closed side design for that verified to us it was same hull😀

when the boat wont do donuts, is because the prop will get to much air and do whats called cavitation...on my full size boat, if i turned to hard on the plain it would burble slow down and i would have to make it a larger turn to stop this action of the engine. this happens mostly with outboard engines like the fake one on this boat....but on boats that are in board with the off side rudder this stops most cavitation....hope this helps.......cheers from downunder!!
