That's amazing you have figured out how to adapt those old gauges to modern technology. Looking forward to the finished product.

I have 18 months experience flying Conway powered 707s in 1970s. I would love to find out what I could remember 45yrs later!

I grew up seeing the 707s flying & love the sound of the P&W engines & they leave a trail of smoke which i called them the smoking guns.

Nice work you are doing, i had a privileged in my life to fly B-707 during 10 years, and the last flight on 707 was one ex LUFTHANSA/GERMAN CARGO 707/330C SN 19317/557 D-ABUI than later sold to TRANSBRASIL as PT-TCM

incredible project. A few out there doing 737-8's in detail but you're the only 707. I can't imagine the complexity and technical skills in converting original 707 instruments to run on computer platforms with accuracy. You've only given us not even a taste of whats involved here. So impressive and mind boggling at the same time. I've subscribed to keep abreast of your progress.

So cool that you have launched this after your fantastic feat with the lovely Caravelle. Wish your parents had flown SAS and the 707 would have been the DC-8...

what a beautiful aircraft. We flew on Lufthansa 707's in the 60's and into the 70's on a regular basis via the polar route, Tokyo, Anchorage, Frankfurt and back. I have many wonderful memories on the 707 with Lufthansa. Maybe we even flew on D-ABOD. We lived in Japan from 1960 until 1974.

If N707JT ever gets it’s way back to Australia, you have another sound sampling opportunity. I wanted just to able to record the sound from the outside with a couple of studio mics.

I flew on few LH 707s when I was a child. I have trying to figure out which planes they were. In July of 1969 I flew on DLH451 LAX to FRA. It had a stop in Montreal and London if my memory serves me still. Return trip had a stop in Amsterdam, where I believe we changed planes. The one we Boarded had Conways and the one we flew into LAX had PW. I have some 8mm footage I am going to digitize. From the info I have looked at in 1969 Lufthansa only had 4 planes with Conways.

Outstanding job! Can you elaborate on your father’s experience with the World War II pilots? i’m just curious as to why it was a not so great experience.
    Thanks!

Hi, well to give you an idea: Extremely dominant captains, would not let the copilot actually touch anything, or would say the copilot is allowed to touch the yoke and follow the movements of the captain, flying deliberately into clouds (hiding from enemy aircraft in the war), talking to teddy bears "teddy, tell the copilot to extend the gear" (and NOT joking), when the copilot did an excellent CATII approach (copilot flying down to minimum and then captain taking over doing the landing) saying "barely acceptable". You know these little things that really give you a feeling of being totally useless. Some pilots seem to have been traumatized from the war. It wasn't not the majority, but it was generally a bad atmosphere on the DLH707 fleet.

@@flycaravelleflightsimulato758 very interesting. I work for the fire department so I can definitely see similar traits with our “old salts”. Thank you for the reply!

So sad two RR 707s were destroyed in Germany at almost the same time
