  • With the conclusion of season 1 of Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake, this video seeks to explore the show's relationship with the philosophical concept of Eternal Recurrence, the notion that everything stays, right where we left it. But does everything truly stay without changing? Come along with me to find out!

      If that feeling is something you’re looking for, i might suggest watching more European animation lol
      I’d recommend Birdboy, the illusionists, the 2006 adaptation of Peter and the Wolf, Persepolis, Hedgehog in the Fog, and anything by Jiří Trnka. I can’t guarantee that these will scratch the same itch as Adventure Time, but they might provide a different vibe than what we usually find in American animation.

    This is why I love this show so much, even when it seems so simple it’s so complex, even if it seems like stupid fun it’s also smart and intuitive. It’s not one or neither, but both. As life is also good, and bad.

    ok first,, this video is all my psychology while speaking of my favorite show ever,, so wow
    second,, i LOVE how you actually say some real character developpement and dont put things Marceline just,,, showed of her past over the show because thats not character developpement,, thats just learning her story,, character developpement is what she have learned in the time of five years of story (for Adventure time) so Marceline learned to forgive,, thats her arc in five years,, and thats normal ! she didnt needed a whole shenanigans of whole sticks because shes over 1000 years ! so thank you for giving actual reasonable and logical things she have learned and not about what WE have learned of her

    • @HenryKathman
      @HenryKathman  5 месяцев назад +1

      Glad you liked it. I think Marceline is a very interesting example of how lore and backstory doesn’t really determine how well a character is written. I think that’s a common misreading fandoms can sometimes encourage.

    Amazing. That is an aspect of adventure time i was still thinking abt without beung able to crack the code on my own yet. But if you are right and i def think you hit the right note here, then it is very similar to the islamic concept of faith called 9adr in arabic.
    In islam we have the perfect understanding of how fate interacts with our free will and with God's knowledge. We are taught that fate only affects what happens to us and what will happen because of our actions, that means that oir reaction to both are whatbis within our control, also what we do alone is within our control, not to mention that God writes fate according to each person's true nature so that the events that happen to them will be the perfect way to test them and also that we have the power of invocation which is asking God for favors which can also alter fate to make it easier for us. But God is aware of all these factors and changes which doesn't have correlation with our freedom of choice. It justbgoes to show how merciful God is and hwo coherrant islam's understanding is and aligning with reality and the human mind. Also one doesn't even need to be muslim for God to accept his du3a2, for example God always accepts the du3a2 of the opressed and those whose lives are in danger.
    Thus, viewing it this way, through the islamic lense, the people trying to claim themsekves as free and in control of their fate are pathetically doomed to a cycle of servitude to their own desires. Those who claim themsekves victims of circumstances and slaves of their fate are hypocrites who lie to themselves as their actions do not translste that belief unless they actually unalived themselves which i invite nobody to do. The truth is that we are all slaves to God and in accepting that fact, we become the masters of our selves (desires) and can thus attract positivity that may have not always been there. That is why althought it is not a common opinion among scholars of islam to be had that i view art when done with a greater purpose in mind as an intent behind its creation, can be seen as a great act of worship because fiction can only be a reflection of the one absolute reality we all live in that was created by Allah. And so to paint somsthing that depicts it greatly in beauty and understanding is very beloved to Allah as He is the Beautiful Who Loves Beauty. The Best of Creators whom both hands are right (He creates none but He finds it to be beautiful). And emphasizing that beauty can only attract His favors to you. Kudos to you for being able to understand the view of the people behind it and kudos to those who ponder on His words (All of Reality is His decree) and can depict such things.
    You also skmehow said something that Allah addressed in the quran 1400 years ago. "And we do not change a people until they change what is within themselves" such change can go both ways really. Such wisdom in those words ! Exalted is He.
    I also find it very daring and brave of you to show examples of protest against genocidal and colonial violence. Shows that you are indeed among the rughtful ones.
    So let me end this by invoking Allah to keep everyone reading this, their family as well as their friends, protected, rightfully guided, blessed and successful in this and the next life. I hooe the one behind this video reads it and i hope it benefits anyone else who took the time and patience to read it.

    • @HenryKathman
      @HenryKathman  5 месяцев назад

      Very interesting read! As someone who isn’t as well read on Islamic philosophy and religion as much as I would like, it’s neat to see this kind of philosophy appearing in other sects of the world.
      As for protesting acts of genocide, it feels like the very least someone in my position can do. I only hope people can continue to fight for peace.

    • @exarquazowexa7247
      @exarquazowexa7247 5 месяцев назад

      @@HenryKathman well it's like the prophet 3sws said "a believer forbids wrong when he sees it either with his hands, or if he can't then with his mouth, pr if he can't in his heart". Islam always has been about moving beliefs to words and then to actions gradually, a way of purification of self and evolution that makes it easy for the person. All the best dude. The path is long but the patients are the winners. Remember that it's a marathon and not a sprint.

    Wait Neddy is neurodivergent coded?

    • @HenryKathman
      @HenryKathman  5 месяцев назад +1

      I mean Neddy has a lot of traits we tend to ascribe to neurodivergent people: being nonverbal, having difficulty processing unexpected things, and finding comfort in hyper specific things.
      I don’t know how flattering a portrayal of neurodivergence Neddy can be considered, but Bubblegum’s quote sticks out to me as a decent message about that you can definitely apply to mental differences: “people get built different. We don't need to figure it out, we just need to respect it."
