Her vocals are so incredible. She can sound like an absolutely insane maniac person, but if you listen closely, there's this impression that she is aware and in control of each and every distortion in her voice. Really great concert!
This is exactly how I've tried to describe her vocals. You phrased it better than I ever have, though. When you listen to the subtleties of her singing on the studio album, it's just...terrifying.
Agree, in control of everything. Incredibly tight and professional. I have seen/been at a multitude of gigs but would have sold my soul to have been at this one.

Yuh that's such sick album and collaboration! It should have made a way bigger impact on modern metal scene. In the last couple of years many speak of Courtney La Plante from Spiritbox but I'd give it to Julie any day of the week as a way more diverse, unique and interesting vocalist. La Plante sounds very bland to my ear.
I'm here because I've just finished listening to it on my Discover Weekly playlist on Spotify. I had to add it to so many of my own playlists because I was totally blown away by the epicness of it. Holy SHIT! I'm actually quite emotional right now.
replying to this just to let you know she just released a solo album with Johannes doing guitars and occasional vocals. I saw that Thomas was on drums as well but I also saw that it was a different drummer as well (though to me it sounds so much like Thomas's drumming style). hope it scratches the itch for you!
Initially, I didn’t like this album, it was the only CoL album I didn’t enjoy. But after watching this performance, specifically at the same moment when she first sings of the Wreck of S.S. Needle, it suddenly became this incredibly special album to me, from start to finish. Strange how that happens, huh?
@@RedSky-vf8bf Similar experience. Now it's one of my favorite albums. I think my initial failure was that I bounced off of her voice without looking into the larger themes and artistic direction of the album and seeing the energy live like this made it all make sense to me when I wasn't willing to have an open mind before.
I just don't get it. Julie Christmas. So out of control and so in control, so juxtaposed and so fitting in, so heavenly and so raw; SHIVERS down my spine. Love it!
y'know this is the first time I've ever listened to any Julie Christmas live...I was always kinda worried she just wouldn't sound anything like she does on her albums...I am SUPER glad to see she doesn't disappoint and in fact is even MORE insane live.

Thank you. Thank you so much. Cygnus is one of my favourite songs of all time, I cannot tell how how cathartic that outro is and what it means to me. What a pleasure it was seeing you last year in Belgium, one of the best times of my life. Cheers from Mumbai. \m/
thank you so much CoL for the livestream. you have no idea how much it means to us! especially during this time. greetings from Indonesia. you always have my full respect and support. stay safe and healthy and keep making awesome music. 🙌🏼👏🏼🖤🔥🎶
hi, you're indonesian too? glad to know I am not the only one who's on love with this epic album! watching this is pandemy times, it soothes the stress!!
I didn’t think a band could be more complete as Cult of Luna, but Julie Christmas is such an incredible addition that only explodes the already INSANE energy of this band. It’s unreal!
That bassist needs more recognition. I looked up what few tabs I could for Cygnus, and man, he's no slouch. I'm gonna need a lot more practice before I can pull that off.
the live version manages to match the greatness of the studio source material with great fidelity but also with its own touches. and julie christmas is a beast.
Last week we saw the launch of SpaceX Demo Mission 2. I felt more than ever this song (Chevron) is the most beautiful poem ever written to manned space launch.
Julie Christmas is so under rated. I enjoy all her music. You all must listen to her older music " Bad Wife " was and is a really good album. Man, she can scream with a broken voice but have control she is brilliant. Come to South Africa please
52:03 Is the BOLLOX! 'Epic' doesn't begin to describe how powerful this is! I recommend playing from a few minutes before the time stamp to appreciate the musical and emotional context. Hell, just play from the beginning of Cygnus. Just play the whole concert for that matter.
Flew from Sydney to Stockholm to see this tour. It was gold. Met Julie after the concert in the merchandise area she was very down to earth. Please make more music together.
Man was I bummed when I couldn't make the trip to the nearest show on this tour. I am so happy this was captured and thanks for posting. Cult of Luna and Julie are so powerful on their own, but together? Damn, this album was really something special.

Wow. Definitely wasn’t expecting to run into this tonight. Been pretty much dreaming of a video version of this show for years. I’m beyond excited to watch. Frequently.
Many years ago I heard Made out of Babies and Battle of Mice and always thought Julie Christmas' voice was interesting and unique. Within the last year I really dove into Cult of Luna and discovered her on this album, and it is fantastic. Absolutely awesome live, wish I could have been there.
This is my favorite album of the 2010s, which is kinda incredible considering some of the albums released during the decade(Pelagial, Hand. cannot. erase., Fear Inoculum, Sound Awake, Outer Edges, Trilogy, Museum of Consciousness, Litourgiya, Mordial, ...).

I think this is the best heavy female vocal I've ever heard and I'm starting to think I could drop female from that statement
She adds so much to their sound. When I heard that they had stuff without her, I was surprised that it existed.

Truly. Ever. I hope this gets archived and preserved, and when humanity is dead and gone one way or another, this remains.
Absolutely agree! Ever since I heard it hasn't left my head. Especially the cygnus song.
I dare say, the one at Roadburn was even better :P
I would watch it forever... One of the best live shows in existence... Goosebumps 🤘

"Legendary" even sounds to weak as a word to convey how powerful, beautiful and evocative it is.
almost like oceanic

The outro in Cygnus is just indescribable and I still think it’s the greatest finale in a song ever.

Yes. 100%.
The outro to Wreck of the SS Needle is fairly epic as well
For sure ! I think Dark City Dead Man is also one of the greatest finals , in a different atmosphere
100% agree. It gives me shivers every time.
18:35 when she screams "the wreck of s.s. needle" - I FELT IT. She is absolutely astonishing.
Better than the album version IMO, the growl makes the line sound even more menacing.
@@zm6771 Yeah agreed, the raw energy of that track here is far more powerful than the recording
yes the album version was way to clean and 'plastic'
