CoL is one of those bands that dials it back in the studio to lure people to killer live performances. The Dead used to do that. Much preferable to bands that tour just to sell their studio albums

I don't think they dial at back at all - but their live shows have unique feel that begs to be experienced, like the other side of the same coin.
