I can totally see it. The first time I saw Baguazhang is from The Last Airbender through Airbending's moves which is based on Baguazhang. The way he evades the attacks were totally like Aang. Evasion and defense using circular motion, the essence of Baguazhang.
Both arts are usually taught together. Most of it are grappling techniques. You also notice the scenery explaining the strikes. Xingyi is like the stairs using linear spear strikes. Bagua is like the gears using circular sword strikes.
@RagingUtai Classical martial arts were developed to use weapons. Tai chi uses the long sword. Baqua uses the saber. Also, any martial artist can adapt weapons to their liking.
it really did need something tho, when good Jet Li is on the ground seemingly beaten as he goes to get up it needed a flashback scene similar to the kind in the Kung Fu series where good Jet Li had someone in his life tell him some important "don't give up when shit looks bad pep talk/lesson". ideally a person that evil Jet Li did not have in his life, perhaps because they were taken from him by violence at a young age, maybe that could even have been the reason he was so intent on becoming The One to try to bring them back. it would have been of course rather cheesy but it is a scifi/kung fu movie so it would have fit perfectly.
Yulaw gets locked up in the hades universe, while it’s called “Stguin penoly Conly Hades universe” . That’s why Yulaw travlled Too another universe though. Only that’s why, he is locked for life in prison, before he says. “I WILL BE THE ONE!” . Very compesitive though. Also, Gabe is locked from another universe, while seeing Her Wife back from the pass again. That’s what i mean though, so yep.
Bagua is circular, deflecting and redirecting in its movements--and mostly open hand techniques. Xing Yi is linear, cutting through the circle, brutal with mostly close-handed techniques.
The evil Jet Li (the one with the grey shirt) is using Xing Yi while the good Jet Li (the one wearing black) is using Bagua. The good Jet Li uses Bagua after he gets up from being punched into the machine.
Yulaw doesn’t even have a grey shirt, but obviously He rips his shirt, while Seeing a blue shirt on him now. Because Obviously Bagua is the most circular, if that’s why Yulaw could only deflect it’s movements that way.
Wonderfull.....great.tbe msster jet li......8 times winner of tournsment of wu shu in pekin.........in the past.......but.this...is..a ode to.....the good life....and good defense......it is..the objetive of..the wu shu.....or kung fu...or chinnese art.....and theveverithing martial.arts.....the peace...tje evolution spiritual...an fisique from tje man...
Gabe Was The One who used Baguazhang, expect Yulaw used Xingyiquan in this film though. Because it’s a rempresentation that Baguazhang Gabe Law won Against Yulaw though, because informing that Yulaw had a sad ending while Yulaw didn’t divid up his stregth or energy too. Because Gabe Law uses baguazhang which means He wins. And obviously Gabe law is the best.
What i mean is Yulaw used Xingyiquan which means I understand the whole film alot though, because Gabe is the one who used Baguazhang while Both of them are doing circluar moves in this film though, that Yulaw uses fist with himself in the prison multiverse though. While Gabe’s Offensive styles are more likely better than i thought though. Also that’s why Yulaw was the one who used Xingyiquan while Gabe used Baguazhang in my opinion though. But besides Yulaw had a sad ending while He didn’r divid up his stregth or energy too, which means Gabe is the one who win. That’s why Yulaw woulden’t prevent himself becoming The One though. But in the hades universe of stygian penol colony, he can still be The One and proceeds to Fight The Prison inmates in another universe though. That’s why Gabriel Yulaw is on top of the Zigguart while Prison inmates has no choice to yulaw but they even can, etc...
You are right but the thing is, movies are choreographed for entertainment. In the movies the fight scenes are intentionally given a certain visual quality. Moves and techniques are displayed in slow motion for the visual effects of entertainment. However this doesn't reflect how the fighting technique is used in real life. In real life there isn't always even a need for as much technique as used in the movies. Sometimes a fight is as short as one or two punches and it doesn't even look like king fun or any particular fighting. In real life, often the fighting styles are indistinguishable according to the situation.
This is masterfully executed. To contrast the styles. Outstanding.
3:50 bagua fight begins here

Gotta love the classics. They always have a deliberate rhythm that's actually really funny.
Both arts are usually taught together. Most of it are grappling techniques. You also notice the scenery explaining the strikes. Xingyi is like the stairs using linear spear strikes. Bagua is like the gears using circular sword strikes.
Wow, I didn't even catch that detail. Good eye!
Same with Piguaquan and Bajiquan being taught together.
so whats tai chi, a hybrid?
@RagingUtai Classical martial arts were developed to use weapons. Tai chi uses the long sword. Baqua uses the saber. Also, any martial artist can adapt weapons to their liking.
@@quincewilliams6058 sorry, I was referring to the martial art, not the weapons used
For those that don't know. The bagua begins when he gets off the ground the final time.
Xingyi is Only the Enemy of himself though. Called Yulaw, so yes.
@@opulence2006 I thought Gabe was using xingyi too, but I think it's based more on tumbling fist. (not sure though)
Xing Yi attacks the center, it's powwer splits like an axe and crushes like a hammer, woe to those who don't protect their rib cage!
his greatest enemy is himself lol
Just like everyone else in this world
Exactly
Yulaw only killed 125 version’s Himself, because that’s what i mean obviously.
This movie is great, a sequel to it would be legendary... have it continue when evil jet li is in the prison.
great soundtrack as well

Also Still one of my favourite films ever, and the best film in my life too.
The ☯️taoist internal kung fu forms.
boy I really didn't want the music to stop
FYI - There is very little Bagua or Xingyi here.... just lots of long fist moves disguised as Bagua,etc... and wire work.... still great though.
exactely what I thought.
I don't know which Jet Li was which style O_O
Bagua is circular, deflecting and redirecting in its movements--and mostly open hand techniques. Xing Yi is linear, cutting through the circle, brutal with mostly close-handed techniques.

Baguazhang is better, but nice video though. Also, Gabe is my favourite for now.

Real airbending
It's fanziquan vs baguazhuang
I think the evil Jet Li is not using Xing Yi at all. He is using Fanzi Quan. Please tell me if I am wrong!
i think he is using ho ly wood quan. just some postures remind of ba gua zhang and a bit zuan quan of xingyiquan
What i mean is Yulaw used Xingyiquan which means I understand the whole film alot though, because Gabe is the one who used Baguazhang while Both of them are doing circluar moves in this film though, that Yulaw uses fist with himself in the prison multiverse though. It's a movie, not real fighting.
Oh my, a movie about two dimension-hopping superhumans has some unrealistic scenes? SAY IT AIN'T SO!
Mr. Creazil boo hoo, get a life
Seems like his Xing Yi is not so good.
that's not xing yi quan .
I personally thought it was Bak Mei and not Hsing I.
i think its all mixed to make it look flashy on screen. It look like bak mei mixed with mantis
ihgiuhjiuj
not buying it
unrealistic fighting not effective in reallife
It's a movie. Most movies don't have "realistic" fighting.
paolung even in real fight xingyiquan and baguazhang is bullshit not effective in realfight
How many "real" fights have you been in with a xingyi or bagua fighter?
