- A promotional film seeded to volvo dealers in mid-1992 in preparation for the 850's fall launch as a '93 model. Contains some great driving scenes, perspective buyer opinions, as well as several ads I haven't managed to yet find on the net.
Love the 850. Not too many cars blend safety, luxury, and sporty character as well as this car did.
Agree completely - best car ever!
About a year ago I bought a 1993 850 GLE Estate "10 valve non turbo" 5 speed. that was it's on it's way to the junkyard and saved it!
It had problems whit clicking axels, warped brake rotors, and the PCV system that had a clogged up "oil trap". Got most of the parts off junked cars, even change the timing belt and water pump... and gave it a good waxing.
It's been most reaibel car that I ever ownd. Even though the car is almost 20 years old, it's still built like a tank!
Volvo for life!
Do you still have it?
@@bobjohnson205 Yes I do.. Only drive it during the summer months.
@@siemenstraffic Great to hear!
We just bought our second 850 (this time a wagon) and even the 10 valve version impresses us; very nippy, handles well, has a very tight structure and great versatility.
Had a '97 T-5, What a GREAT car!!!
@psykotanks It was entirely by chance that i actually ended up with this video, it was mis-labeled on ebay as an 850 instructional film for new owners. Still searching for that original how-to video, actually. Found the cassette tape version yesterday in an MA junk yard, I'll upload it fairly soon with some random 850 shots.
This is so epic. I wish car campaigns were like this today. Companies don't even try. The 850 (especially the 850R estate) is damn sexy.
The boxy "P 80" seems old fashioned nowadays, but quite everything's got a something new's taste. First of all, the wonderful voice of the "5-in-l" engine! Then, the amazing road handle and the thrill of the road! Last but not the least, the comfort.
Without forgetting everything that makes a Volvo a whole unique: safety, reliability and economy. It should be an advertisement, but it is not.
Just an everyday's point of view. Enjoy yours 😉!
I test-drove a '93 850GLT in Nov. 92 while my '77 264GL was at the dealer being serviced. I wasn't looking for another car at the time, but the dealer asked me to take it for a drive if I wanted to. I liked it, but I stayed with my 264. I didn't like front-wheel drive - I still don't! RWD Volvo For Life! 😉
At 0:23 Rare aluminum rims option that where called "Hydra"

i have one 94 non turbo..my god..i call it tank..best car i ever own beside my 84 240 dl station vagon..i got ford,gm,kia..i will buy this volvo again and again and again......
Wow. We got this exact car back in 2001, and it was great then. Unfortunately, it ended up totaled after an accident in September 2006. I pulled out the Econ/Sport button along with other knobs, switches, and parts to keep for memory. I miss our 850 GLT. :(
I think another reason why I like this car so much is that it made its debut the same exact time as my dream car's: the Lancer Evolution, which was October 1992. It's a shame Mitsubishi might kill it after 2013. ;(
I have this car it have some suspension problems but the fault is the previous owner not me I really love it its just perfect I cant wait to raise all the money to repair it
