Actually most Tuvans living in Mongolia don't live in Bayan Olgii. They live in Khovsgul. Bayan Olgii is close to 98% Kazakh. But yes, the Tuvan language is closely related to Mongolian language. They also used the similar Uyghur/Manchu script. Siberia has close cultural and genetic ties to Mongolia & Manchuria. If one studies history and looks at a map, it's quite obvious.

@ryan lee Tuvan language is a Siberian branch of the Turkic language family while Turkish, Azerbaijani, and Turkmen are Oghuz Branch. One is the far East and the other is the far West so many words are different or the way the words are pronounced have changed (I only got like 3 words), but the grammar and primitive words, like numbers and pronouns, are identical or at least has changed so little. To me Tuvan sounds very similar to Kyrgyz or Kazakh.

@@juliussezar1550O, English speakers directly do not understand anything in German because besides having a quite different pronunciation, its vocabulary and (its) grammar are also quite different.
It is not just a matter of pronunciation as you say.
English and German have the same origin and both are Germanic, but that's it.
That does not mean that they are or have to be mutually intelligible.

I am Turkish and in this video, I picked up a few Turkic words and common suffixes (plural form "ler- lar"), the equivalent of the word "of" (nın, nin, nun, nün), the Equivalent of the English word "at" (de-da) present in all Turkic languages along with the suffixes that denotes personal pronouns in verb conjugations. The endings of her words which are suffixes in Turkic languages sound very familiar.
Ata, Ana, Jurt-Yurt, Uyku, Erten (Ertesi), Gün-Kün, Jürek-Yürek, Ulu, Dağ, Kişi, Dil, Ben, Yaşımda, Gök, Ağzı are some of the Turkic words I recognized. Her name "Aydyn" also means enlightened in Turkish.
My list on some Turkic languages from most intelligible to least intelligible is as below:
    1- Azerbaijan Turkish
    2- Gagauz Turkish
    3- Crimean Turkish
    4- Turkmen
    5- Uzbek
    6- Karachay - Kumyk - Nogay
    7- Uyghur
    8- Kazakh - Kyrgyz
    9- Bashkir - Kazan Tatar
    10 - Altai
    11- Hakas
    12- Tuva
    13- Sakha
14- Chuvash :) (Pronunciation sounds quite different)

Turkish speaker here: I can pick out the grammatical sentence structure and some grammatical structures fairly easy (like the -m at the end of some words which is the possesive suffix for "my"), also a few words here and there. So if I didn't know anything about this language, I would still be able to tell that it's a Turkic language but other than that, it's quiet incomprehensible to me. Plus, her name Aydyn (Aydın) is a fairly common name in Turkey as well, there is even a Turkish city called Aydın, which is so nice to see that across such a vast geography and thousands of years after seperating, we still have shared personal names!

    • @Snestorm564
      @Snestorm564 Год назад +10

@@IranLur That doesn't negate the fact that Tuvan IS literally a Turkic language and the -m suffix she uses in the beginning is the 1st person possessive suffix in Tuvan, just as in Turkish. Same for the plural suffix -lar/-ler, so it is easily clear to me that in the beginning of the video, she is addressing multiple people, who are related to her. For example at 0:04 she says "chengelerim" which is "yengelerim" in Anatolian Turkish, and means exactly the same thing: "my sisters-in-law".
Someone noticing similarities in two languages isn't automatically an attack on yours.
Other things I noticed now, for those interested:
She says "siler" meaning "you all" ("sizler" in Turkish)
"baarından" meaning "from the center/heart of ..." ("bağırından")
      "kün" meaning "day" ("gün")
      "dılıvıs" meaning "our language" ("dilimiz)
"chürezning kızıl odu" meaning "the red fire of his/her heart" ("yüreğinin kızıl odu")
      "kizhi" meaning "person/man" ("kişi")
      "khomus" meaning "jaw harp" ("kopuz")
      "kök" meaning "blue" ("gök")
"chüs chüs chıl" meaning "hundreds of years" ("yüz yüz yıl")
      "ene" meaning "mother" ("ana/anne")
      "ata" meaning "father/ancestor" ("ata")
      "ulug" meaning "big/great"("ulu")
      "kım" meaning "who" ("kim")
      "bis" meaning "we" ("biz")

BTW, I was surprised when I heard some Tuvan people do not call their language Turkic. The grammar is a little different alright, especially for Turkish (which is probably the most distant Trukic language to Tuvan comparing to others), but I can tell you that it sounds very much like Turkic to me. It did not challenge me at all to learn some basic conversations as I found it pretty similar to Turkish.

She starts with "Dedelerim, ablalarim, yengelerim, destelerim (?), ingmalarim (?), Sziler bu tege (I salute you), uykucak oluk Kim'nin( of the sleepless river "Kim") altanalcik, numunelcik (?) yerinden (from the place), Asya'nin goynundan (from the centre of Asia), Sayan Tandi daginin bagrindan (from the heart of the Sayan Tandi mountain)". I feel no need to translate to the Turkish language. It is quite understandable..

She sounds absolutely gorgeous... I found out from a language forum that Aydyn is Mongolian-Tuvan and speaking with a Mongolian accent which is weird because when I first heard her I thought "she sounds Mongolian!"
(Tuvan is half Mongolian anyway, I heard (full of loanwords). In the same sense that English is "half French"!)

Turkic tribes ruled the Mongolian steppe in ancient times, and Mongolian vocab has about 20% proto-Turkic words. Turkic and Mongolic tribes have been inter-marrying for thousands of years, which resulted in shared vocab, grammar, cuisine, music, clothing, lifestyle, marital practice, political system, religion, etc. As such, it's very difficult to say who influenced who.
