    Ever since Microsoft closed Tango, i’ve been in a “fuck Microsoft” type of mood. Tango being closed hurts the most out of all the closures. It’s a shame we’ll likely never see an Evil Within 3, or a Ghostwire sequel.

      Yep, I'm with you there. It just doesn't make any sense. They closed a studio with a popular gamepass Game and talent that is proving and can add value to the brand.
      Looks like I meed to reply the evil within once again because looks like no point waiting for a third entry ...

    Hello my friend,
    I completely agree with you and you know how supportive of Xbox I was at the beginning. I was really enthusiastic and I kept defending them when people were criticizing them, I don't mean to make it all about myself here, but they made me look stupid for defending them and now I have to eat crow.
    I saw so much potential in these smaller acquisitions, but then they had to get greedy and bought Bethesda, I was still OK with it, but then there was the whole Activision/Blizzard deal that took all the attention of the fans. They already had good studios with a lot of potential, and all we could talk about was that stupid deal. We've received nothing but bad news since then.
    I was imagining all those great games coming out, with smaller talented studios like Obsidian, InXile, Compulsion Games,... and we received next to nothing. I'm looking forward to Avowed, we'll see how it does.
    I'm so disappointed, I'm glad I still am primarily a Nintendo gamer and have a PS5 now.
    I still love my Xbox Series S and had a blast with it. I played great games such as the Halo games that I discovered with it, Wasteland 3, Tales of Arise,... so I will keep fond memories of it, but I don't believe in the future of the brand anymore. To finish this comment, Sarah Bond was painful to listen to, she seemed like she knew she was talking nonsense but had to, her words said one thing, her face and her body language said another, completely different. It reminded me of the moments I had an exam, knew I didn't know anything, but tried to give stupid answers to the teacher to grab a few points, while feeling completely stupid.

      Hey friend!!
      Those were fun and optimistic times 🥳 I enjoyed talking about the potential of XBOX during those days with you and I came so very close to buying the console myself 🙂 I was actually thinking of you, when I mentioned the Series S is a great little console, as I know you have enjoyed it a lot!
      I'm just getting tired of watching all these companies making huge mistakes, that to me feel really obvious. It never occured to them that buying the Studios is only step one, but now they need to think they need to keep paying them to make Games? I actually mentioned that point in my last XBOX focused video and it turns out Microsoft had not done the math to keep the studios going.... How they could spent close to 100 Billion in total and didn't do the Math... 😵
      I think the success of last generation made many companies too confident in Video Games. Not recognising the tallent & time needed to make good Games, thinking if they threw enough money it would just work out.
      I think this year will be remembered by the greedy publishers as a lesson. Hopefully good Games can become the priority once again and people can keep their jobs 🙂

    • @GamingMyWholeLife
      @GamingMyWholeLife  6 месяцев назад +1

      Also yes, I was also imagining wonderful and unique Games to come out. Instead they mostly bought developers who were known for third party support across all platforms.

      @@GamingMyWholeLife Hey my friend!
      Sorry for the late reply.
      That's right, I have quite fond memories of those times, and it was also nice for me to talk about that with you. When I got the console I was having a blast at the beginning, and I still am to a degree, that's why I don't regret getting it. Oh cool, that's nice, I appreciate that and you mentioning the Series S even more now.
      Yes, you are completely right. They spent so much money but now we want to see the results and we are only getting bad news. Yes, I remember your video, it was good. I think they became too powerful and greedy and lost sight of what's really important, the games and the gamers.
      Yes, that might be a reason. I would say that that was the case of Playstation but I'm not sure that really applies to Xbox to be honest, even though I understand where you are coming from. I think you nailed it in your last video, they are just too rich and don't have enough reason to worry about that.
      Yes, the thing is, it will turn off smaller publishers from accepting big offers like Microsoft did. I'm sure many of the newly acquired Xbox studios now are afraid and uncertain about the future.
      That's right, we both did and they disappointed us. The thing is, I don't regret it, I remember your video on hype as well. Even though we are disappointed now, the good time we had talking about the possible future of Xbox was still a good time and I don't regret it.

    Letting people play games for free is always a good way of ruining them and lowering metascores. People do not feel towards games they get to play for free, there is no commitment, hence they never really get the true mettle of any games they play on gamepass. Free stuff always feels meh when compared to stuff you paid full price for.

      They tried to buy solutions to all their problems and its clearly not working. Xbox just needs some good exclusive games to make them stand out. Let’s suppose Microsoft did not purchase Bethesda what was going to happen? The same thing that’s happening right now perhaps even worse. Remember they didn’t buy, but when the company was high on the hog, they bought the company when it was on a down turn trying to figure out how to make money. If they hadn’t purchased Bethesda, you would’ve seen these layoffs come and worse. Too many people act as if Microsoft caused all of this damage and that’s not true. The companies they purchased were in trouble to begin with they needed the money.

    It seems that the gaming industry's primary concern is profit, which could lead to a crash at the top end. Our best chance of keeping gaming alive lies with AA games and indie developers. Instead of relying on idiots who don't play or purchase games, companies should reach out to registered player accounts through surveys to understand what games they truly want to play. Additionally, it's important to recognize that not every game can cater to everyone's tastes; people have different preferences when it comes to genres of games.

    • @GamingMyWholeLife
      @GamingMyWholeLife  6 месяцев назад +1

      I agree and I think profit as the number one Goal is totally fine.
      What astounds me is the many poor decisions, that lead to failure and makes sure the profit is rather poor or none existent.
      Surveys are a great idea, CAPCOM has been using that lately and I think Publishers should listen to what fans want, as opposed to trends.
      That last statement you made is very important and accurate.
      Because they inflate their own budgets too much (I have no Sympathy in that regard, because if they spend 200 Million on a Game, it's because they think they will get even more back). So due to this greed, they have to aim for everyone, while pleasing no one. Focused Games knowing their Target Audience normally kill it ! 😃

      If Games still needed to perform good at launch at least and the motivation/ Requirement of releasing good Games is still the overall goal ~ this could have worked.
      Hellblade 2 launched today or the reviews are at least out.

    Correct. People are too shortsighted. Netflix was great too when it was the only streaming service and had everything for about $8.99 a month (that's what it was when I first subscribed around 2009 or so), but now the top Netflix plan is like $22 or $24 (they've raised the price twice in the last year) and it's one of a multitude of other streaming services that cumulatively add up to more than cable was.
    At absolute best, GamePass basically becomes a streaming monopoly and they jack up the price massively to make the license agreements to have games on it sustainable. At worst, GamePass becomes one of 10 other streaming services you have to subscribe to if you want to stream all the games.
    Buying games during a Steam sale might cost more depending on how many games you buy and at how deep a discount, but the games are yours forever, and you don't have to worry about a game being rotated out of the service mid playthrough and such. The same analog is basically true for buying / ripping Blu-Rays for something like Jellyfin / Emby / Plex versus paying subscription fees for the rest of your life.

    I'm gonna be honest, and yall are not gonna like this, but .. Zenimax were 100% going to close Tango if Xbox dis not acquire Bethesda. Majority of Tango Games do not sell well. Hi-Fi Rush didn't even get many players playing through game pass. Majority of players who did play bounced off it after couple hours.
    Ported to playstation and had no success. I mean come brothers, enough of this GP slander. Whether it's good or bad, Hi-Fi Rush success had zero causal by GP

    • @GamingMyWholeLife
      @GamingMyWholeLife  6 месяцев назад +1

      We don't know if that would have actually happened or not. They were expanding their IP, Survival Horror with The Evil Within, Ghostwire going in a different perspective/ more action focused and Hi Fi Rush going in a completely different direction. Didn't feel like the studio was going anywhere.
      Hi fi rush, the hype around the Game may have been short lived but it was really well received and made GP look good. For many, even their first Tango Game.
      Ironically enough, the short lived life of Hi Fi is what GP creates. A new game comes out, its on the subscription service so everyone starts playing day 1 and in a couple weeks everyone is done already. The subscription by design makes Games iralevent very fast.
      If it was a Game that needed to be sold to survive? Well, everyone is talking about the Game and experiencing it at different times. Keeps the conversation and interest going 🙂

    There is a whole in your arguments. Everyone is parroting the same thing.
    Gamepass isn't dumbing down games and they ain't making gaas.only
    If they were why is Gears 5, Hellbalde 2, Hi Fi rush and starfield.
    The blame is being put on Gamepass but they don't want to be specific.
    Bethesda are the one who closed the studio because Tango didn't want to make a Bethesda game they wanted their own ip

    • @GamingMyWholeLife
      @GamingMyWholeLife  6 месяцев назад

      Hi fi rush and Stanfield were well already into development before XBOX became involved.
      Hellblade 2 looks sick bit also notice they have barely even been promoting it? Huge AAA exclusive, not even 10 days from Launch and nothing is happening.
      Gears 5 I never played but it does look awesome 👍🏼
      My argument is not good Games can't exist but the importance of their success is drastically lowered. They don't need to ensure Hellblade 2 gets millions of sales and to also drive console sales, it simply needs to be good enough to make those who are already on Gamepass content for a bit.

      @@GamingMyWholeLife Hellbalde has been in the limelight for a while now. I mean it's was announced alongside the Series X.
      There has been enough trailers for fans to be excited.
      But for Hellbalde the games doesn't necessarily need to be marketed like how a game like diablo 4.
      But about GP, the issue at hand here is the speculation around what it means to be success under GP.
      GP makes 300-400 m a month a split of that is used to secure and fund games. My guess is 70 funding and 30 profit.
      The link between tangos and Arkane closure isn't gamepass.

    • @5purg
      @5purg 6 месяцев назад

      @@GamingMyWholeLife the answers lies in Bethesda practice.
      They have been pushing GAAS since 2014.
      2014- ESO
      2018-Fallout 76
      2019- youngblood
      2023-redfall.
      The new shift here is the need to licenced IP. Which is an upcoming emerging trend.
      Machine games were told to work on Indiana Jones
      Arkane Lyon to work on Blade
      Tango- Didn't want that, they wanted their own ip. So Bethesda didn't want to fund their games.

      When I say Gamepass sucks, I don't mean it can't have good Games. Of course it does.
      My argument is its not good in general for new video games. It lowers expectations, drastically reduces sales and Microsoft has aggressively bought so many Third Party companies to fill it with.
      Microsoft has fired THOUSANDS of people during the past year because they have made so many poor decisions and now have closed 4 more studios. Apparently they will fire more people in the near future.
      Oh and yes, I have been playing games since the original Nintendo Console 😎 I have enjoyed the industry from the early days and care about what is best for the industry.

    You can rant all you want about how Game Pass kills but game pass is not wasting video game publishers today. The cost to develop video games in a market that is not growing. That’s what hurting developers. Are you going to say gamepass hurt them. What about Bungie did Game Pass hurt them? Sony had trouble recouping cost for developing Spider-Man 2 was it game pass that hurt them. The problem all publishers are facing is cost. It’s increasingly more expensive to develop a game that price increased to $70 doesn’t even come close to generating enough revenue to cover the cost of developing a AAA video game. The cost of everything has gone up from the cost of what you pay workers to the cost of health insurance to the cost of renting of facility where you might do your work or the cost of taxes you might pay if you own the building, even to the cost of paying for an engine if you don’t have something that’s proprietary. If you have to hire voice actors, guess what you have to pay them more. It’s the cost that’s killing people now it’s the lack of a growing market. That’s killing them now. Don’t get mad at Xbox for doing the smart thing and cutting the dead weight. you couldn’t never make another evil because if you did, you would not recoup the cost of making that game. If you don’t believe me, pick another horror franchise, we love Dead Space which just happens to be on Game Pass right now and ask yourself. Why aren’t we getting a sequel? Is it because the game is on Game Pass? No it’s because the game didn’t sell enough. It’s because the money they spent developing the game and the money they made back on revenue did not generate enough profit, it isn’t the fault of Game Pass. It’s the fact that we don’t have enough people purchasing games in the current market and it cost too much to make these games.
    Rant all you want, but you need to point your finger in the right direction.

    • @GamingMyWholeLife
      @GamingMyWholeLife  6 месяцев назад +1

      Sounds like you have bought into the lie that has been getting pushed for a long time now and instead of questioning the greedier publishers out there, you instead are defending them - which in turn will lead them to never learn amd continuing to fail financially.
      Yes, Spider Man 2 had a massive budget and that impacts how much of a profit they will make, if any. That Game also implemented a lot of modern day politics and made numerous changes that many fans did not like and so never bought the Game.
      Why do I bring up the above statement? If a publisher invests too much money money into a Game (200 million or whatever) than they need to make that back PLUS profit to warrant the investment. Thats a lot of pressure on a Game, before its even released. Now, you would think to achieve insane sales, that they would try to prioritise the Game itself and try create a Game as many people as possible can enjoy? No, they isolated a large section of their fan base in many ways and they voted with their wallets.
      And thats just one example of publishers wanting too much return on an investment, while also not even prioritising the Game itself and its fans.
      Funny how anyone else making a Indie, AA or even AAA does absolutely fine financially, if they don't get greedy and actually put the Game first 🤔🥳
