Hey I'm so glad you enjoyed the Video and that you have a special place for The Evil Within 😃 Ooo I have many thoughts on that Game. I plan on replaying it to do another review like this but I'll give you a simple version of my thoughts here. It's worth playing and visually, the engine has been upgraded and visually the Game looks fantastic. It's less linear and exploration becomes more important but in return it does loose some of the tension and scripted intensities. More action focused as well. Not a bad Game at all and enjoyable but most fans prefer the first Game as the better Survival Horror experience. As a Game? Yeah, its fun but just not as intense as the first 🙂 Those are my last thoughts on the Game anyway. I'm curious how I will feel once I boot it up yet again!
The Evil Within 2 is solid! Without saying too much, it's less masochistic than 1. Imagine RE4 REmake without the parry mechanic. What bad things have you heard?
It certainly was popular to hate on the Game at the time. Instead of appreciating the bravery the studio had, they were instead wanting to tear it down. Guess not much has changed since Hahaha
@@theredoctopus3196 yeah, 2 is ok but the original is superior in nearly every way. i thought the entire story with his wife and daughter still alive all that time was silly. i've replayed the original on akumu once a year since it released. i played 2 once when it released and found it pretty disappointing, and just recently played it for a 2nd time and it wasn't any better than i remembered. no idea how most people think 2 is the superior game, the atmosphere in the original is just so perfect for a horror game, and ruvik is a way better villain than the 2 lame villains in 2.

I'm gonna be mad at myself forever for deciding I didn't like it and selling my copy when I first got it for the PS4 back when it was new just because, if I'm being honest, I had very little experience with survival horror at the time and didn't really understand how to enjoy a game like this. Not that I was one of the people that loudly and publicly hated on the game, back then I was still in high school and I didn't say anything loudly, let alone a strong opinion on a popular new game, I was the type that was trying to be as quiet as possible to avoid being noticed. It's just a shame they dumbed down TEW 2 with enemies that only chase until they lose sight of you, and never run all the way to where they heard you run even while not seeing you like the OG. Also, the cover and takedown system TEW 2 has don't belong in ANY horror game. It's understandable why though, the sad truth is people are too impatient or squeamish to learn how to play games like TEW, so they don't sell well unless you hand hold. My fave games are the ones that take time to master, and offer exciting new challenges on harder difficulty modes, which is one thing you didn't mention about this game. On Akumu the wall mines have faster moving dials and much slimmer disarm windows. So instead of disarming them, I lured enemies toward me, then tossed a bottle at the mine as they got near it. The enemies are also faster and more aggressive on Akumu. Regarding graphics, it's worth mentioning that some of us hated the heavy glare filter they used, which severely muted colors and blurred textures. Tango however at least offered a CVAR to disable that filter with the update that fixed the AR and other issues, which made it MUCH better for some of us. I loved this game so much I made a walkthrough on Akumu with no upgrades, locker keys, or DLC weapons. ruclips.net/p/PLHB6vX_n-5BP6l80RHREtCPPce4IfaVfc

A great example of look after your fans first. Everything will work out after that. I'm looking forward to replaying TEW 2.
@@GamingMyWholeLife Well, TEW 2, while yes, tried to appease those whom complained about the gameplay of the first, also to a degree abandoned those of us whom loved the challenge of the original game. Even the Guardian creature that walked around with the big saw blade and had multiple heads was too easy. You really didn't even have to kill her on the first encounter with her where they made it look like you were trapped. I really don't get why so many players want horror games to be so easy to play. They're not at all scary at that point. But honestly, I'd rather have a dumbed down TEW 3 than no continuation of the series, if that's the choice we have to make. It just sucks that casual mainstreamers can dictate how games are made. A TON of them have a habit of not even finishing games they buy.

Yeah the DLC was excellent and really helped expand and explain the story ❤ Thanks for watching this video, I really enjoyed giving some much needed love to this Game 😃🎩
Spicy take with it being better than all the new resident evil games. I think its far too messy for that to be the case. But i do adore the game and its overflowing personality and style. I also do think this game is agining beautifully. What felt a bit run of the mill and sub par at the time has endured and feels really special now However i do find the aside about games being about escapism and not activism was unnecessary I know its hot topic stuff now days so probably youre appealing to those people that feel very strongly about that, like you But games are art and art can mean and do infinite things. Everything does mean something whether its intentional or not If a game is solely focused on fun or escapism im all for that. But if the purpose of the art piece is to consciously say something then im all for that. Even if i dont agree with whatever the statement could be The real problem and why I imagine it drives people like you nuts is that the AAA space is very much stretching that definition of art. Games are so expensive and publisher focused that the artistic visions either buried or disingenuous a lot of the time And thats unbearable for sure. I just dont like to see the art form limited as a defensive response to a larger problem with the industry and entertainment money making as a whole Capitalism wants to kill art and itll never win. But its got damn trying and its god damn annoying lol
It certainly is a bold statement with regards to the modern Resident Evil Games 🙂 I honestly feel that way and wish more people gave The Evil Within a chance. The Escapism part is actually very important to me and is why I mention it in my Videos. It's such a quick mention, that of course it makes a very broad statement since I want that part to last like 10 seconds. Politics can absolutely exist in Games, what me and others who feel the same have an issue with, is Social Politics forced into pre existing franchises where it does not belong. Often resulting in the Game quality going down and even studios closing down. People who want to make a super political / social Game from scratch? They can go for it. It's about respecting IP's for their original visions. So it's much deeper than "woke is bad" or something like that 🙂 Also works the other way around too. If a Game was originally, very political, it should stay like that.
I learned about that straight after this upload!! That said, apparently it's just another HIFI RUSH game the team is working on. Still, at least at some point it is possible now for an TEW 3. Hopefully the team even wants a Third entry. After Shinji Mikami left the company, I'm not sure if the desire is there.
I agree, so I will never try to change your mind Hahaha. It's a good Game but I think most fans agree the first was the better of the two 🙂 Thanks for watching as always! I feel like my age is catching up to me or I've been doing RUclips for too long now to worry about sitting on the fence with opinions, lol. Those who want to be upset, I feel they will anyway and those who agree, like to hear it strongly! Also, did you hear the news about Soul Reaver Remastered? I actually think the 2nd game made the first game better. It added context to the original that raised it up. My fav part of TEW2 is whenever you're revisiting the events of Beacon.
@@Jack_80 Wow, I saw this comment very late, lol. It's interesting you mention those who like the 2nd one more. they were very vocal at release and even after, but are a vocal minority. Which is why the 2nd sold less, even though it tried really hard to address every complaint the first had. Also, totally get where you are coming from with the 3rd. Coming into this I was like “Nah this guy tripping cause this game really is just RE4 which ain’t a good thing” but compared to the remakes? Yeah all but REmake 1 & REmake 4 are far more lacking than they ever should be so much so I think it’s embarrassing Capcom even released REmake 2 and REmake 3
@@GamingMyWholeLife Honestly I feel Capcom will never remake another game in their entire company history that can top REmake lol I think that was the company firing on all cylinders As for REmake 2 and 3 though I think they’re good games severely held back by them just wanting to do the bare minimum cause they talked a lot during REmake 2 development and they had a LOT of good ideas but instead we just got a good game that we had to bully them into making the 2nd scenario for which is crazy to think about
Yeah, RE1 will likely never happen again and was a result of a deal with Nintendo - which is just fascinating to think about! Also it was during a time where companies were still trying to do everything Gamers want and prioritised us. These days, many Publishers are too busy trying to TELL US what we should like and are surprised when it does not work out for them, lol. Despite what some say online, Gamers are very easy to please because we are vocal about what we want. I wonder what Good ideas we missed out on?
Glad you recognise this Game and how brilliant it is! Just never got the appreciation it deserved. When Tango closed, people should have been shouting about The Evil Within, not HiFi Rush
@Wooeda1 - Anything is possible, I mean I did a Video on Soul Reaver just the other day and CROC before that. I would still get excited for The Evil Within 3 no matter how many years pass!
I'm not one to play frustrating games. I initially described The Evil Within as "the 'Dark Souls' of Survival Horror". And you know what? I beat this damn game 3 times! And I Loved It!
I think it's unique surprise emphases on the Crossbow, also played a part in the initial struggle. By default, I assumed the shot gun was where my focus should be but things got much easier once I started using those Bolts and especially, if you could use an environment trap. I only just realised if you throw a Bottle at those motion detector explosive things that they go off!! Had no idea, still learning 😍
I understand where you're coming from For me It's the 'just right' horror I want in my survival horror. I absolutely love the horror theme park experience. Cool design enemy and area without restriction. Amazing art direction make the graphic still look good to this day. Great game

Yeah agreed but the evil within 2 is the worst horror game and the story not connecting with the first one and GTA system not working on horror game the evil within 2 is boring as a hell and not horror game even

I’m playing this game at night with a headset 🎧
I play all my Games with headphones in 😃
Let's you hear every step, without having to blast the Volume Hahaha
I loved this game when it first released I’m currently in my like 7th play through
Aged like fine Wine and as we mature ourselves, we appreciate what this is 🙂
Glad your able to reply and continue to enjoy the experience!
Also, did you hear the news about Soul Reaver Remastered? I just uploaded a video on it, very excited ^__^
Did u know that they made a dlc for the first game u play as kidman
Yeah the DLC was excellent and really helped expand and explain the story ❤ Thanks for watching this video, I really enjoyed giving some much needed love to this Game 😃🎩
Spicy take with it being better than all the new resident evil games. I think its far too messy for that to be the case. But i do adore the game and its overflowing personality and style. I also do think this game is agining beautifully. What felt a bit run of the mill and sub par at the time has endured and feels really special now
However i do find the aside about games being about escapism and not activism was unnecessary
I know its hot topic stuff now days so probably youre appealing to those people that feel very strongly about that, like you
But games are art and art can mean and do infinite things. Everything does mean something whether its intentional or not
If a game is solely focused on fun or escapism im all for that. But if the purpose of the art piece is to consciously say something then im all for that. Even if i dont agree with whatever the statement could be
The real problem and why I imagine it drives people like you nuts is that the AAA space is very much stretching that definition of art. Games are so expensive and publisher focused that the artistic visions either buried or disingenuous a lot of the time
And thats unbearable for sure. I just dont like to see the art form limited as a defensive response to a larger problem with the industry and entertainment money making as a whole
Capitalism wants to kill art and itll never win. But its got damn trying and its god damn annoying lol
It certainly is a bold statement with regards to the modern Resident Evil Games 🙂
I honestly feel that way and wish more people gave The Evil Within a chance.
If a Game was originally, very political, it should stay like that.
hmm interesting.. I remember being kinda disappointed with it back in the day and then liking the second one better.. I might have to replay it..
That would actually be a very interesting experiment!!
Plus, just a fun time 😎
I loved this game I bought it when it first came out
Nicely done!! I still have the limited edition box it came in 😃
Thanks for watching and I'm glad you were able to appreciate this gem 💎
Its possible when the company got bought by the people who made callisto protocol. So lets hope for a 3rd.
The first game is better than the second. Change my mind (awesome vid as usual, bold as ever!)
I agree, so I will never try to change your mind Hahaha.
It's a good Game but I think most fans agree the first was the better of the two 🙂
Thanks for watching as always!
I just uploaded a video on it, very excited ^__^
@@GamingMyWholeLife most fans i see in the comments of videos about this game think tew2 is superior in every way. it was disappointing to me, so much that i'm not even excited for the potential tew3 i heard may be in the works, because i know it'll be more like 2 and never recapture the feel of the original.
Microsoft still owns the franchise, even after Tango got a new publisher under them
@@F7Horror I'm replaying TEW 2 right now and I have to agree! I'm using my experience in that, to appreciate the first even more.
I'm also going to do a fun comparison video or something because there are some areas the 2nd entry does better (just some, for the most part the first is better hands down by a lot, lol )
Great video, king, thank you.
You are very welcome!! Glad you enjoyed the Video 🙂
Currently, I'm replaying The Evil Within 2 and will do a video on that one as well at some point
The RE1 Remake is stunning even to this day 🙂
I think RE2 Remake is a great Game, I just think TEW is even better in a lot of ways, lol
@@GamingMyWholeLife Honestly I feel Capcom will never remake another game in their entire company history that can top REmake lol I think that was the company firing on all cylinders
As for REmake 2 and 3 though I think they’re good games severely held back by them just wanting to do the bare minimum cause they talked a lot during REmake 2 development and they had a LOT of good ideas but instead we just got a good game that we had to bully them into making the 2nd scenario for which is crazy to think about
Yeah, RE1 will likely never happen again and was a result of a deal with Nintendo - which is just fascinating to think about!
My favourite game ever! ❤❤❤ This is my comfort game.
Glad you recognise this Game and how brilliant it is!
Just never got the appreciation it deserved.
When Tango closed, people should have been shouting about The Evil Within, not HiFi Rush
@@GamingMyWholeLife True. I'm still hopeful we are getting The Evil Within 3. Even if it's in 10, 20 years, somebody is going to do it, I know!
@Wooeda1 - Anything is possible, I mean I did a Video on Soul Reaver just the other day and CROC before that. I would still get excited for The Evil Within 3 no matter how many years pass!
@@GamingMyWholeLife Same. I would do a backflip even if I'm 80 and on my deathbed.
😂 I feel ya
Evil Within is WAY better than the Dead Space and The Last of Us series
Fite me
Ohh even chucking the last of us in there, Dem fighting words for someone!!
Not me, I agree Hahaha
@@GamingMyWholeLife
Based 🗿
The evil within 2 maybe. But the first one nah. Cap
@@GamingMyWholeLife Agreed. I didn't make enough use of the Flash Bolts. It's so satisfying sneak killing 5+ enemies at once!
@frankkennedy6388 - Yeah the flexibility is really satisfying!!
@@GamingMyWholeLife That's what he said XD
I understand where you're coming from
For me It's the 'just right' horror I want in my survival horror. I absolutely love the horror theme park experience. Cool design enemy and area without restriction. Amazing art direction make the graphic still look good to this day. Great game
I know the word under appreciated gets thrown around a lot for any Game that is not as big as fans want but I really do feel The Evil Within is one of those Gems.
Yeah, absolutely agree!
Also, did you hear the news about Soul Reaver Remastered? I just uploaded a video on it, very excited ^__^
soo soooo underrated game...
It truly is!!
I would be more calm about it if more people understood Hahaha
Don't get me wrong, I don't need others to like a Game for me to enjoy it.
I just think it sucks when a Game does not do as good as it should 🙂
2:00 Village is mediocre at best
Yeah agreed but the evil within 2 is the worst horror game and the story not connecting with the first one and GTA system not working on horror game the evil within 2 is boring as a hell and not horror game even
I loved evil within 1 when it launched, despite the jank. I love evil within 2 as well for different reasons. EW feels like the perfect mix of Resident Evil action and Silent Hill overtones and environmental design.
It really is a fantastic series, even if it only got 2 entries 🙂
I'm playing through The Evil Within 2 currently!
Think it would be fun to do some sort of comparison video 😎
So glad to finally see one of my favorite games getting recognition
Lives rent free in my mind. Every couple of years I go back and appreciate it even more 🙂
Also, did you hear the news about Soul Reaver Remastered? I just uploaded a video on it, very excited ^__^
I never knew this game, but it so damn good
We sure are, lol. Hopefully with the renewed interest after Yooka Replayee they get to work on the next or have secretly been working on it for a while now
2 was better
Disagree 🙂
3:28 that’s resident evil 5
Yeah I misspoke there
Tango Gameworks is not done. They are back. There will be an evil within 3.
I wish it were true!
I did hear after uploading this video that Tango was bought out but apparently there efforts are going straight to more hi fi rush... I'm not sure the remaining team, without Shinji Mikami even want to continue with the series ☹
I hope I'm wrong! I obviously LOVE this series
Yes, its real survival
The Good Stuff 😎
