Gryffin DarkBreed the concept is odd. during the AWB someone could have just bought a better functioning pump shotgun and a bolt action .223. nowadays It'd say Mossberg 500/Rem 870 and Mossberg Patrol .223 for an AWB. unless there is a good reason to have 2 firearms in one integrated unit like this.

I was an original orderer for the 12ga/308 version after year and years of delay I received information that they weren’t coming out with the 308 version but a 223. So I went ahead and purchased and waited another year to receive my rifle. Well to my surprise that it did show up and it was pump action. Every issue you had operating that weapon was exactly the same I had with my weapon, including the Jams while not in battery. I thought it was operator error and it was put away for like 5 years. I finally just got rid of it. Terrible gun, terrible system, and this video just brings it all back.
@Ese Travieso Obviously he didn't literally mean ALL DOORS, because FYI the doors on a nuclear bunker aren't opening up no matter what you shoot it with. Also the vast majority of doors you'd ever conceivably need to go through are NOT made of metal. Basically, you're being an obtuse asshole for no reason. Knock it off.
I think the concept is sound but the execution is terrible. Now that the Assault Weapon Ban is long over someone should remake the original, semi auto concept rifle. I recommend the following combo's: 12 Gauge/7.62 NATO 20 Gauge/5.56 NATO 410/22 LR Having both the shotgun and rifle portions in semi-auto integrated into one package would be a big seller.
i'm with you. Put me down for a half a dozen of those 12 gauge .308 models. Am i the only one that thinks the rifle belongs on TOP? Also, in this day and age, there is no reason the shotgun couldn't also be fed by detachable box magazines. It would make reloading under fire much quicker.
@Eric Nunya I imagine it's done that way because you're having to feed two separate mags. If you put the AR barrel on top it would need a side loaded magazine, or you'd have to have the shotgun barrel way out forward so it doesn't get in the way of the AR magazine feed.
As a hobby gunsmith, this damn gun keeps me up at night. I've had "visions" of a sporting rifle that has a bolt action rifle barrel on top and a pump action shotgun on the bottom.

Costa as a verb. I'm going to use that. As a generic small game gun, I would like a .22lr over .410, or even better, 20ga , but for that purpose break action would be fine and even preferable to semi auto (compact, light, simple). I can even see a pump AR (the Troy comes to mind) for places where semi-auto is a legal no-go, but I'm not sure what they were thinking here.
I remember seeing the original advertised Crossfire and thinking it was the coolest gun EVER, this iteration that made it to marked look decidedly uncool and ungainly and it also doesn't function. Just great!
I think I've seen it in a JA-alike. Or, more likely, one of its mods. Pretty fun gun, but shotguns in general were hilariously powerful in that game. Probably because jamming 70% of the time wasn't a feature. (Also, not an FPS, so might not count; "7.62 High Calibre")
Hunt predators for over 50yrs , get some experience and you'll understand why it is a good idea . Just crappy engineering. My solution was to buy a Drilling 12x12x30-06 .
Luckily for Forgotten Weapons [maybe not so much Ian, though...], the designers of this appear not to have gotten the memo. I actually thought it was unlocking _unintentionally_ at the beginning of the video....
I feel a connection to this gun. First of all, I've always loved the idea of combination gins, even if they're at best highly situational and at worst complete crap, and in cases like this, both. Second, as an aesthetic experience, this gun combines the kinetics of a pump action shotgun, the coolest kind of shotgun kinetically speaking, and a proper infantry rifle. Aesthetically, you know what this is? It's the M41A Pulse Rifle from Aliens, a few hardware generations back.
I feel the core idea was/is a good idea. Having a AR 15/M16 with an internal 12 gauge shotgun provides a lot of flexibility with all the specialty military 12 gauge shells available(door buster, buckshot, slug, grenade, flare, incendiary, tazer, etc), and unlike master key like systems, aiming and firing is more natural. However, the execution was just awful, and most likely tied to the assault weapon ban. Essentially, they likely started with a complicated/innovative semi auto (or even full auto) design, but after the ban, macgyvered a legal pump act version. So they took an already tricky design, and made it a cluster f*****.
Well, the idea of a combination rifle/shotgun for hunting has been around and popular since the Victorian era, but they're always very simple break action single shot weapons. What did this thing in is that having any sort of repeating action makes any gun more complex, trying to cram two actions into one gun is just flying too close the the sun. I seriously doubt anyone was trying to market this to anyone other then civilians, it's just not a concept that any military or law enforcement agency would be interested in. It's a civilian hunter's tool, for use in areas with mixed game.
I had seriously considered buying this as my first firearm. I turned 18 during the Assault weapons ban but instead i bought a Mosin Nagant M44. Probably a waaaay better choice for my first gun. lol.
Okay, that’s great and all, but if I’m being perfectly honest, I’d say this thing’s biggest flaw is that the top barrel isn’t chambered for 40mm grenades with the lower barrel being chambered in .50 BMG. If you’re going to have a conceptually awesome gun that fails horrifically in the execution, you might as well put as much oomph as possible into the “conceptually awesome” part.
you know a gun sucks when a shooter leaves rounds in the mag and says "im done"
LOL! Underrated comment.

Good idea , crappy engineering.
@Abrasax Palante it's mostly AWB laws. Original design was better.
Hunt predators for over 50yrs , get some experience and you'll understand why it is a good idea . Just crappy engineering.
My solution was to buy a Drilling 12x12x30-06 .
I really really really want you to take it apart. This is like when a movie ends on a cliffhanger and doesn’t get a sequel
Im amazed that this even went into production. No wonder that i never heared of it yet.
It's actually a good idea, just HORRIBLE implementation
I thought we learned that recoil-activated anything was a bad idea in the early 1900's.
Luckily for Forgotten Weapons [maybe not so much Ian, though...], the designers of this appear not to have gotten the memo.
I actually thought it was unlocking _unintentionally_ at the beginning of the video....
Almost all over under shotguns have firing pins that are cocked by recoil only
I actually would really like to have one just due to how interesting it is.
There's one for sale at a gun shop near me right now. $2495 :)
The other reason I feel a connection to this gun is I too am too large, too useless, and I also was announced in 1989 but didn't come out until 1999.
Best FW intro ever. I also literally laughed out loud when you said that they're both pump action. That's nuts
I suspect that a folding stock would be tricky with the shotgun mag is in the butt stock... :(
Any thoughts on the M26 Modular Accessory Shotgun System?
I smiled through this whole video.....Both times I watched it.....Thanks Ian
This is so badass in concept
I have seen some crazy half ass things in my life time but this gun .....the designers HAD to have been high
Bryan McHugh the assault weapon ban probably made this gun all the worse
the first 30 seconds was horrifying, glad i have a mossberg pump
Something like this could have worked as a good all in one gun,if only it'd been a bit more practically designed
Anthony Williams the design may have been fine. The production was fucked by the assault weapon ban as stated in the video
Seems like I remember an over/under gun for turkey hunting in PA. But it was a break open single shot. It was 12 gauge over .223
"Not trying to Costa this" is my favorite line from all your videos.
I had seriously considered buying this as my first firearm. I turned 18 during the Assault weapons ban but instead i bought a Mosin Nagant M44. Probably a waaaay better choice for my first gun. lol.
this looks like it would be fun for plinking... maybe... or not...
As a target, yes.
Yes, thank you Robert in Georgia!
Dude. That was perfect. 100% cool factor the whole time.
Effin Nailed it
Okay, that’s great and all, but if I’m being perfectly honest, I’d say this thing’s biggest flaw is that the top barrel isn’t chambered for 40mm grenades with the lower barrel being chambered in .50 BMG.
If you’re going to have a conceptually awesome gun that fails horrifically in the execution, you might as well put as much oomph as possible into the “conceptually awesome” part.
