When carried in stowed position, agility loss from weight carried is reduced to 75% of other gear types. When carried in deployed position, agility loss from weight carried is the same as other smgs.
Also it gets a massively ahistorical optical sight that probably never went into production and didn't see combat, because the children who play these games can't even handle ironsights in a game that takes place 75+ years ago.
Forgot to turn on speakers before I pressed play. Before I turned them on I could still hear clearly in my head as the video played "Hey guys! Anyone know if there’s any kind of modern equivalent? Merely curious. It’s a fascinating concept, reminds me of the weapons in Mass Effect that fold out from a compact state.
A bit late, but the ARES FMG is sort of like it, but it's also pretty much just a glock crossed with a lunch box. I think the unfolding was deemed impractical for bodyguarding and the like, where you might want a handy automatic, and for rear echelon personel, something like the P90, with a rifle cartridge and 50 rounds, is much better.
@@justarandomtechpriest1578 it does, just like every other submachine gun. however a p90 is still more than sufficient for most operations that require concealment and high firepower. regardless of the size of bullet it shoots, having 10 bullets put in your body in less than 10 seconds will put a crimp in any plans you might have
The closest thing I can think of is the Keltec Sub2000. Its a straight blowback pcc that folds in half at the breach face for storage. The folded length is only the length of the barrel 16". In factory form they are very cheap, like $400, and they feel like it. If your willing to pay double, you can seriously upgrade them and make them pretty damn good.

you can technically deploy it in 3 movements: the first movement you deploy the stock with your right hand using the weight of the army, the second you press the button to deploy the barrel with your left hand, then just after pressing the button you direct your left hand directly towards the magazine to unfold it and have your left hand directly on the magazine to hold the weapon, so you just have to move your right hand towards the handle to be able to operate the trigger.
yeah I still want to own one of these guns it's really cool that it folds up like that and you could put a submachine gun with full auto capability in your backpack.

3. If the weapon is out of ammunition, the folding animation plays except it’s going to be put back to its folded configuration.
4. If the player finds an ammunition box or an MP40, the folding animation plays, but a special animation will play: the weapon’s original magazine is replaced with the MP40’s.
A perk of the gun would be that you get an extra weapons slot for another grenade
When he started pushhing the barrel into the reciever I audible went "ohOhoho"
“Clean up in aisle H!”
Forgot to turn on speakers before I pressed play. Before I turned them on I could still hear clearly in my head as the video played "Hey guys! Thanks for tuning in to another video on forgottenweapons.com. I'm Ia-" and sounds back on.
It's a beautiful thing how consistently and simply you're videos start.
That's quite possibly the coolest smg I've ever seen.
I loved this beauty ever since your first video on it, such an interesting concept.
The barrel springing out was just sick
Definitely to complex for the military but I could see this being extremely useful for VIP protection organization like the secret service.
True that
and in this case, it could be more refined.
Take too long to unfold
@@demonprinces17 AFAIR in his first video on this Ian did some speed tests and it can be done pretty quick.
Now we're putting Microchips in bullets. lol
Loved these, used to spray the british convoys with one down in Belfast back in the day.
Did Ian mention whether it was one of autobots or decepticons?
Probably a Decepticon becauser “GuNs BaD”
Anyone know if there’s any kind of modern equivalent? Merely curious. It’s a fascinating concept, reminds me of the weapons in Mass Effect that fold out from a compact state.
A bit late, but the ARES FMG is sort of like it, but it's also pretty much just a glock crossed with a lunch box. I think the unfolding was deemed impractical for bodyguarding and the like, where you might want a handy automatic, and for rear echelon personel, something like the P90, with a rifle cartridge and 50 rounds, is much better.
@@MrVeps1 p90 uses pistol caliber I thought
@@justarandomtechpriest1578 PRAISE THE OMNISSIAH
YOOOOOO!!! Ian showed me this gun at my first 2GACM match!!!! Thank you you, Ian!
Somebody REALLY needs to make a semi auto version of this, that would make a FANTASTIC backpack gun, truck gun, or discrete carry PCC. Imagine this thing in a sling bag...
Add nitinol wire and it can unfold itself
Hotchkiss shooters can count how many fingers they have, on one hand.
I love the way you mentioned and noted the ergonomics. Very interesting!
"Carabine Mitrailleur Hotchkiss"
I repeated this passage over and over, it was very cool. I like to hear american people speak in french. So satisfaying !👌😉
Salutations de Lille (France🇨🇵)
So did he pronounce it correctly?
@@patchmoulton5438 it was a little strange because I wasn't prepare, but yes it's quite good 👌😉
Mitrailleuse. Carabine is female.
@@yPhil je ne fais que retranscrire
Goddamn the unfolding of this gun is hella satisfying as everything just locks into place
"The greatest pistol caliber carbine until the sub2000" -George Kellgren (probably)
The selector/safety reminds me of the forward/reverse switch on my power drill. Which, amusingly, is a lot easier to stop in the center safe position.
imagine if everything was spring loaded, so you could unfold it by pressing just one button
Stop I can only get so errect
..."And whats with that button?"
"This one makes your gun implode"
"okay.."
Hit the button, flip it up in the air, catch a fully unfolded SMG, rack it and start firing. John Wick 100.
Switchblade but it's a gun!
you can technically deploy it in 3 movements: the first movement you deploy the stock with your right hand using the weight of the army, the second you press the button to deploy the barrel with your left hand, then just after pressing the button you direct your left hand directly towards the magazine to unfold it and have your left hand directly on the magazine to hold the weapon, so you just have to move your right hand towards the handle to be able to operate the trigger.
Hotchkiss also built cars between 1903 and 1955 - the badge/logo featured a pair of crossed cannons, showing their origin as an arms manufacturer.
Holy cow, I've seen this gun before! It was one of the star performers at the Cirque Du Soleil!
Thanks for that Ian that is a very nicely designed gut with a lot of very cool features!
Pocket SMG, and I'm not talking about the FMG-9
Well technically the fmg is a machine pistol
@@Davenzoid I thought so too. I also believe that the name got updated some years ago to reflect its designation; FMP9.
Davenzoid does it stand fucking machine gun? Or am I dumb?
@@purplesweaterboi4763 F: Folding M: Machine G: Gun
@@purplesweaterboi4763 Well it could be a folding machine gun but yeah your version's pretty nice too.
There is something about the look of that gun that makes me want to decorate it with very pretty engraving or painting.
When Ian started folding it up, I was hearing Transformer noises in my head. 😎
Guy making this weapon was just like: Yo dawg, I heard you liked underfolders.
Xhibit: "So I heard you like folds???"
Almost seems the precursor to the PDW personal defense weapon. Something small compact easy to store for support personal. The FN-P90 comes to mind.
Okay, this is by far the coolest folding gun I've seen. Still want that folding shotgun more, though.
YAY, I've been waiting for this to be revisited ever since I first saw the old video.
Straight from ACME catalogue for sneaky hunting the Road Runner ;)
yeah I still want to own one of these guns it's really cool that it folds up like that and you could put a submachine gun with full auto capability in your backpack.
"Hey guys! I brought the guns! All 22 of them."
"That's... ahh... you brought a shoebox."
"Yes, I know."
This is one gun that I would want even as a deactivated version because the folding action is already so interesting I wouldn't ever get to shooting it anyway.
Well when you said "everything folds", you really weren't kidding.
This is one of the coolest gun- designs I've ever seen.
