Stourhead is about ½ hour from me, and we've visited about 4 times. Every time, we find something new to see. On a visit about three weeks ago, I finally got to go around the lake and hilly grounds properly. We took the shuttle bus from the ticket entrance down to the Spread Eagle courtyard where there's shops, a pub and a food outlet. Then, just near the lovely church and where you had your photo taken by the ornate tower, there's a volunteer driven 6-seater bugy for tours around the lake that has just been introduced. It was amazing! We stopped several times so we could take photos, and I thoroughly recommend it! Sorry to hear that you're not well. Hope you feel better soon. xxx
Lovely I went there with my husband before I got married such beautiful gardens and lake to walk around. { we have been married next month 37 years next month!} 😍
Hello Jeanette. What an amazing place for you to visit. You and Tim look very relaxed and it is lovely that you have has some time with your daughter. Take care on the journey home.
What a wonderful time you must be having with family. Thank you for sharing! Please take care & I hope your Dr can give you something to bring you back to good health Jeanette!
Hi Jeanette, sorry you've had to cut short your holiday and hope you feel much better very soon. Oh my word, when I saw the house and gardens I thought you'd called on me 🤣. What a fabulous place, if I'd lived there I'd have been the kitchen maid!! Thanks for taking us along. I see Katie has made a blanket for her dog - that didn't take her long x
Love Stourhead, worth the NT year membership alone even if we don't get to visit any other property! Interestingly I don't remember going in the walled garden and greenhouses recently! Thanks for sharing your day out. Jane
Oh that was a beautiful day dear Jeanette ❤ especially with your dear Katie! Missing our daughter who’s actually working in the UK for a year 😢 can we make that long trip again?
@ of course you’re right Jeanette 😉 we also have our autistic son to consider (he’s a delight but can get very stressed when travelling). But I’ll let you know if we’re in the neighbourhood 🥰
It’s been a long few days. We had to return home early from our break as we were forecast bad snow and was worried about getting into the house as we usually get snowed in, so we would have been snowed out. Lol lol Plus my chest got so bad I could breathe. I’ve managed to see the doctor and I’m back on antibiotics and steroids again.
