@@angielu3187 Maybe - but when I buy for myself, I still like to know the brand of things I may possibly buy. So it's not just resellers who want them to put the sticker elsewhere
I think it's important to realize high pricing at GW isn't just affecting resellers, but the people who need to shop for lower cost items for their own use. When I see lower income shoppers looking for children's clothing and household items in the stores, sometimes I'm tempted to steer them to stores where the merchandise is not only more reliable quality and new but often goes on sale at lower prices than GW.
I saw this at one of my local GWs, we have 3 near me which is crazy. I was looking at some glasses in a set they'd priced at $5.99 each. When I picked up an edge of the GW price tag, I could see the original retail price of $4.99... not sale price, regular.
That's the reason why I stopped going to Goodwill is because you could see the original price and see that they overpriced it by like four times the amount. It's cheaper to go to Ross than to shop at Goodwill here in Colorado.
I am in Canada and I am seeing the same trend of overpricing in the Goodwills here as well. I find that I am spending much more time and finding less items of value. I have, in fact, started shopping more at the competitor thrift stores that are offering better priced items, provide ongoing discount offers to their members and also provide discount coupons when you donate. It's a no-brainer.for me but it makes me sad as I have been shopping at Goodwill for over 20 years.
42:05 was a famous photograph of an Afghan refugee in Pakistan with beautiful green eyes. It appeared in National Geographic in 1984. The photographer looked her up years later and her face was heavily weathered from a hard life and a husband who used to beat her, but her eyes were still recognizable.
Also, lots of people I know stopped donating their good stuff to goodwill because they don’t want resellers profiting off items they think are going to the less needy. They’re also realizing it’s all about goodwill being greedy. I think people are going to realize the year ahead how greedy corporate across the board is going to really get.
Might want to change that mindset - most resellers are people who are working really hard to make a low hourly wage if you leverage it all out. They are single moms, people on disability and seniors. They are families doing it as a side job to try and keep their heads above water. Resellers are not evil monsters who are profiting thousands of dollars on your donation. Also when you donate it is for the purpose of the non profit making money to finance their mission.
Not all resellers are poor destitute hard working slaves , alot of them show them getting into their luxury cars when done. I still don't want resellers profiting from me. Are they even paying taxes on their side hustles? @@TheNICHELady
I’m saying that’s what people say and think about resellers and why prices are high. I think goodwill is losing their minds with pricing because they want to be the ones getting the reseller prices and they’re greedy. They just ended ALL promotions and discounts in our region including senior discount, military and half price tags. One birthday discount still will be given at a one time use of 15%. Supposedly it’s going to be national soon with ending all promotions/discounts.
@brendadowney6886 are you serious? Where are these resellers getting into luxury cars? On RUclips? You know that isn't the average reseller right? I personally drive a 2015 Kia Soul with 160,000 miles on it and falling apart. reselling is hard work - most of us put in way way more than 40 hours a week to make a decent wage. And yes we pay taxes, well the ones I know and associate with do.
Hi! I believe those are from Home Interiors. They are called “Courting Candles”. If a young lady were to have a suitor coming to visit, the candle was raised to a certain level and once the candle burned down to the metal top, he must end his visit. The candle was set at a height shorter or taller depending on how much the father liked the young man. They were sold in the 1980s.
Those spiral candlesticks are Courting Candles. The beau comes acourting and father lights the candle. When it burns to the spot he set it was time for the gentleman to take his leave. I don’t remember which culture it’s from. I had one for years. Loved it. Merry Christmas! 🇨🇦
I live in southwestern Ontario Canada. I don't understand why goodwill keeps raising its prices on things that are donated. I donate a lot of good things to goodwill but I'm thinking I'd be better off going to a shelter with them . There's absolutely no reason to keep raising prices. Everything they receive is free!!!. I'm not donating to them anymore. I guess the landfill will be full. Smh. Sorry but btw do you know how much the ceo makes???? Look it up. It's ridiculous.
I found two Lutheran run charity shops that are run by mostly volunteers and where most of the proceeds are filtered to their excellent charities. My donated "stuff" now goes to them. And, if I purchase anything, they don't ask me to round up.
Guardian Ware lids are glass. My mom had a set when I was a little girl. Brought back some memories! The most irritating thing about Goodwill is that they have a documented history of paying their back room workers less than minimum wage, then pay their Managers and CEO's hundreds of thousands of dollars per year. When all of those freely donated goodies are donated, the workers are taught to "cherry pick" the items that can be held aside and sold through ebay, or other resale outlets for higher dollars. What's left over is now so high priced that they, Goodwill, have forgotten what "thrift" means. So now that they've raised their prices, are they paying their back room workers better? Don't know, but I highly doubt it. What the jump in prices means to me is that I, who live on a fixed income, cannot shop there any longer.
Yep,it looks like Goodwill is out of its/their mind…with some things the prices are even higher than retail or EBay!🤷🏻♀️ Wow,that manager..you are right Danni, frustrated or not, don’t take it out on your customers.🤗 I love watching the fish..and I am SO curious what kind of new babies you got!😄🐠🐟🐡
Danni, The Goodwill here in mid-PA have lost their minds, too. They had so much Christmas, but hardly sold any of it because the prices were way too high. Finally, yesterday, they put everything at 50% off. Now it's priced the way it all needed to be priced from the beginning. So, they are going to have loads of Christmas left this year due to their price gouging. On stuff they got for free. It's just nuts. A question you could ask in that meeting is that if they are going to charge these ridiculously high prices, then why would they put price tags on top of items where it could possibly damage them? Instead of on the bottom or in a place where it's not going to damage anything? That happens all the time and it's just aggrevating. Anyway, hope you have a wonderful Christmas! Thanks for sharing and thanks Noah for the great edit job. Sue 😊❤
@@DD-hy1nl Goodwill is paying their CEO a huge amount of money. Goodwill used to be for those that could not afford box store prices etc., Americans that worked hard but are paid a low salary. I love the candlesticks! I have one, not as nice as those. I was excited when you found them also. I was thinking you would get much more than that for them. I love watching you. You just make my day.
I loved this entire video, but I'll tell you I LOVED that little table that was $50 (way too much for a thrift store, but it's just my style ❤️). I had to edit to add that I also LOVE the macrame pillow! I buy macrame plant hangers, etc. whenever I find them! Thank you for this longer video, Danni! Merry Christmas to you & your family 🎄🎁
The heavy item at 8:56 is a tabletop Japanese yakitori grill. They’re specifically made to grill yakitori skewers or other similar Japanese appetizers, that particular one is sold at World Market, I bought mine there.
Danni I do really enjoy your videos and your general attitude about life. I would just say it might be good to remember that although resellers may be a big chunk of Goodwill's business, they are not Goodwill's "niche". ❤❤
Goodwill's niche is to sell as much as possible as quick as possible for the most they can get for it. So they are losing site on that last piece - because once it's broken they get nothing, once it goes to the bins or sells on $1 day they get far less than pricing reasonably to begin with.
Those candlesticks are cool I would expect to pay about $50. I love them. You should definitely keep them. I am so disappointed in the pricing and the managers attitude
I quit going to goodwill altogether, things are priced soooo high. What good do they do anymore? Nothing! I live in Seattle and they closed the job training center long ago here!
Please ask at your meeting with goodwill ..please don't put stickers on makers mark. Also need to solve problem with no stickers on items. Thanks, it will help us all.
They make PLENTY OF MONEY. All of their merchandise is DONATED! They have gotten too greedy. I used to thousands a year there. I haven’t shopped in one in years! I refuse.
I personally appreciate the rant. The pricing has gotten sooo crazy ridiculous! My local goodwill had unbranded pillows for $11.93 I was so angry I left a bad review on their website. I feel awful. But someone has to say something. 🤷♀️ This was before thanksgiving and here it is before Christmas and still haven’t been back. Like you $1000s a year. I’ll be back after new years but I just felt like it was my personal strike. Congratulations on the babies! ❤
Try being in a wheelchair and going down the aisles. People stare you down like you don’t belong and I just ignore them. Also I went to Savers the other night because you went to one and wow what a change. Discounts and clean not ripped up clothes and not all broken items like at Goodwill. Nice show you always make me smile. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Thrifted today at Goodwill on Maryland and Savers on Tropicana. Wow these stores were fully stocked, clean, organized and smelled nice! Oh to have this quality thrifting in my area!
Many seem to forget that this is the Goodwill. It's raising money to help those in need within the community. Those looking to resell, that's cool but we can't begrudge Goodwill trying to raise as much as possible. Years ago when my children were little, I ran a little second hand kids clothing store. When building inventory, I found you could beat yard sales or flea markets.
My Dad and I have made all sorts of stuff and put our own little hammer marks but we did them with different sided hammers and also some scrapes with screw drivers to make it look old.. they turn out so good
The higher prices just keep me from buying anything at all. I suppose that's good for my frivolous spending, but I foresee them just bringing in the same amount of money on fewer items sold.
Those candlesticks are called "Courting Candles". When couples were courting, the young man would have to leave when the candle burned down to the metal. So if the girl liked him, she would run the candle holder to the top, if she wasn't interested, she would run it to the bottom, so he'd leave quicker. They were made by home interior.
I no longer shop nor donate to Goodwill. The last time I went into my local shop in SC, most things were unmarked, but a sign said anything unpriced was $3. We’re talking about a single plate or coffee mug. No way!
Wow! You have a spectacular fish shop there! Not only are their specimens beautiful but their tanks are sparkling clean! Loved the adjustable candle holders, too. Don't be too discouraged on GW. At least you have a voice with them.
Our goodwill was nice. All clothes arranged nicely by color. I could match mine. Then they changed. Its a mess. No more books too. A grungy o,d tshirt is 5.99. Then, Salv Army changed. A pair of old shorts 14.99. Used lights 8.00. Empty boxes in a stack 20 bucks!
The brass item is a steam boat. Used in China and other Asian counties. The bowl is filled with broth andplaced over a heat source. The chimney shape in the middle conducts the heat quickly. Noodles, thinly sliced meat veg and herbs are simmered in the broth at the table.
I had to smile at your comment about the rusty car parts. My husband's niche is repairing and refurbishing old equipment and sometimes the only way to acquire a part is by finding an old rusty one. Likely he would not be looking for one at Goodwill but even rusty parts are valuable to someone. Personally, I'm with you, I like the glassware and collectibles!
My Goodwill in Sacramento CA has removed ALL of the jewelry from the store case and has put it all online. Instead they now have a bunch of overpriced sneakers. HUGE mistake.
Yes, and it's so irritating! I would go in and check the jewelry plus look at everything else. Since the jewelry was my reason for going, I don't even bother now. I'm certainly not going to shop jewelry from them online or pay for shipping.
I know what that clear stuff with blue squares on it. Remember, you thought it was for baking cookies? It's actually a clear skin cover that you put over a new tattoo to protect it while it heals😊 I have used that exact same stuff myself
Our goodwills in our region(southeastern Wi and Northern, IL) are ending all promotions begining of the year. Only had a 15% off senior day one day a week and now they’re doing away with senior day all together. Getting rid of military discount day, coupons and getting rid of half off color stickers. Told their employees they are ending all promotional discounts because they’re losing money..yeah right. It’s just all about corporate greed!
Our local market this year had 0 Christmas lights (or anything to use as decorations)! Bummer. Several years ago I bought 2 small 200 light bulb strand boxes of lights. They lasted a year's single use then quit working! They were $4.00 each. I guess we were hoping to have something to use. Guess not this time around.
These things are g i v e n to them f r e e! There is no reason for them to price the way they do. Especially with the economy the way it is. They can sell more items at less. I refuse to give them anything to resell. Other resale places in my area are much less expensive. They get my business. Thank you for taking us along on your treasure hunts❤
Could you let your Goodwill reps know that "No Price, No Sell" isn't helping anyone because that item will just be put back on the shelf & not sell at all. At least with a "made-up" price at the register it's SOMETHING!
The aquariums were my favorite part. I could visit them all day. I think goodwill is making me sad lately. There are smaller thrift stores that probably deserve more recognition. I give you credit keeping your cool like you did. I myself would probably think twice about going back.
From Colorado, the price gouging and the not giving back to the community like they say they do. I'm done with Goodwill even the bins. It's sheer corporate greed now! Seems like greed is taking over all of corporate America! Thank God we have the salvation army, Arc thrift stores and New horizons here. I really enjoy your RUclips channel And I don't mind you shopping at Goodwill, but I'm wondering if there's more independent thrift shops in Vegas? I see you go to them from time to time. I've started to really like the hole in the wall kind of thrift stores and enjoy those videos more. You've even turned me on to estate ones as well. Just wanted you to know I appreciate your videos and I fully understand the whole Goodwill going downhill and I feel your frustration.
That's too bad because they'll price themselves out of the market. Resellers do them a favor by getting items off the shelves quicker so they can rotate stock. Also resellers can market to a customer base who will never step foot into Goodwill nor buy from them online. But we WILL buy and support of wonderful resellers like Dani. I owned a retail and wholesale business (retired) and would welcome steady resellers in my day.
I had to move in July and really, really downsize. I mean even the size of my furniture was way too big for this place. I thrifted all my new furniture, and got some really great pieces. I have some Italian ceramics in my kitchen and my dishes are all thrifted too. We have some great thrift stores other than Goodwill. Oh, i do have some plates on my wall but they are Peter Max and grouped together.
Thank you for replying to me and represent to my comment. She plugged in a lamp in her house and it knocked out the Internet and TV and stuff and her husband comes out with storming mad and so she does it again and knock it out again I guess they never heard of surge protectors. I have them on all my outlets and it’s so easy to pick up at Goodwill
I already started to fill out the form that was sent , but it was early in the morning and I didn’t want to take my picture then because I just got up to go to the bathroom and was going back to bed , but I just wanted to start the paperwork to join .
Had to pause when you got to those candlesticks that have the spirals that go down as the candle burns. I believe those are by Home Interiors (remember Home Interior parties??) and were made in the mid to late '80's or so.

Happy Holidays to you and your family!🎅❤
I so agree with you on continuing the item to greatness. Just think if all would reuse items America wouldn’t have to rely on other countries as much.
I saw that Bob Ross tray turned in to a three legged table, not too long ago. It was absolutely the cutest thing!
I love that idea!
Some great finds Dani thank you for sharing merry Christmas 🎄🎅🇨🇦
I no longer shop nor donate to Goodwill. The last time I went into my local shop in SC, most things were unmarked, but a sign said anything unpriced was $3. We’re talking about a single plate or coffee mug. No way!
Green is half off. You should have gotten the starfish mosaic!
I was thinking the same thing
I'm really mad at myself for forgetting that was the color!
The candle holders are courting candles. The parents can adjust the the time and when the candle goes out he has to go home🥰
Thank you Danni for your firm explanation, you are always so fair with people. Merry Christmas to you and your family.❤❤❤
Wow! You have a spectacular fish shop there! Not only are their specimens beautiful but their tanks are sparkling clean! Loved the adjustable candle holders, too. Don't be too discouraged on GW. At least you have a voice with them.
What gets me is the Dollar tree items that even say dollar tree and goodwill prices higher than a dollar twenty five
I had no idea! Learned something new today from you 😊
Merry Christmas to all here
You too!!
Merry Christmas to you and yours❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I used to have those courting candle sticks. Love those.
Merry Christmas ,,,, thank you for window shopping with you ,,, take cate
I had to smile at your comment about the rusty car parts. My husband's niche is repairing and refurbishing old equipment and sometimes the only way to acquire a part is by finding an old rusty one. Likely he would not be looking for one at Goodwill but even rusty parts are valuable to someone. Personally, I'm with you, I like the glassware and collectibles!
Wood tray might be Star of David.
Goodwill rebranding rapidly ... into Badwill. Yikkes😂
I know what that clear stuff with blue squares on it. Remember, you thought it was for baking cookies? It's actually a clear skin cover that you put over a new tattoo to protect it while it heals😊 I have used that exact same stuff myself
But Danni, the profit margin on the basket would have been the same as the other items you did pick up. No? And it was a really cool basket.
Other factors such as size, how quickly I think it will sell etc... goes into the decision.
I love the candle holders! So unique! Thank you for the treat at the end! Beautiful aquarium!
Merry Christmas to you & Your Whole Beautiful Family!❤
Thanks, Danni, for taking us on this thrifting experience!
Merry Christmas to you and your family! 🎄🎁🎄
The ashtrays are now very collectable. There were 2, you picked up one. Take a look at the ashtray groups 😊 I always enjoy shopping with you!
Our local market this year had 0 Christmas lights (or anything to use as decorations)! Bummer. Several years ago I bought 2 small 200 light bulb strand boxes of lights. They lasted a year's single use then quit working! They were $4.00 each. I guess we were hoping to have something to use. Guess not this time around.
| love the Salvation Army here in St.Johns Newfoundland !!!!! prices went up but ill never find my style of clothing anywhere else so win win for me.
You’re right Noah. No rusty car parts at Goodwill!😀😀😀😀😀
Have you visited my Niche Lafy Critter Cams channel?
@TheNICHELady I think I am going to have to. 🙂💝
There is a picture of a puzzle piece on the back of that tin. It does say what it is.
I love looking up at the clear skies too! Especially when No chemtrails , its a beautiful thing! 😊
Great finds❤ My happy place is any where with lots of good books, or a great antiques store. Lol
I watched an interview with a Goodwill employee that said they are pricing items higher. He said they are trying to cut out the resellers.
Ps. I don't donate to them anymore.
Even for crafters $25 is a lot for the bottles of jewelry
I really enjoy your videos 😊
Merry Christmas 🎄
MERRY CHRISTMAS DANNI AND FAMILY! 🎄🎅❤️
Merry Christmas! Coming to Vegas and saw some furniture I’d like to pick up. Where is this located?
This is the Rainbow Alta store
Still don't hear anyone saying Goodwill did anything for anybody, other than them saying they do!!
I have my grandmas Guardian Wear set. I love them. They are great to cook with.
Just who does the pricing because I have wonder here at our goodwill. because they price higher than the dollars tree
Omg Dani..when you said green my apecial needs 23 year old son has ds( said green first time and said it perfect yayyy Ty Dani
He’s the youngest of 5 kids
Love the animal plates
$20 omgggg that’s just ridiculous
I love the candle holders , if I saw them out and about I would buy them 🥰
I can not believe how greedy that goodwill is their prices are horrible. were I live the goodwill is cheap.
I learnt so much from this video thank u always for ur hard work. Lovely happy place :)
Goodwill has increased their prices way too much, donations seem to be down in Maine
I bought a lamp at goodwill and used it until I didn't need. Donated it back to GW. Got a kick out of saying hello lamp each time I visited!
I completely stop going to goodwill so grateful I don’t miss it ,, It was like an addiction so glad I stop going !!
Love this tray , it has such beautiful color and the flowers
The antique Victorian soap dish (pin dish) with repair was still really pretty.
