I would have cross the field center midfield 500 feet above the traffic pattern and then get reestablish for my approach after the conflict .
In this case that would have worked but, had the jet been at his proper pattern altitude of 1,500' AGL (AC 90-96A paragraph 8c) we would have been in the same boat. In hindsight, I think I should have increased altitude to cross the incoming Rwy 09 ILS traffic and entered the base leg for 04. That is still a non standard pattern entry but at least I would not be going in the opposite direction. That can be a tricky airport to enter from the west. I think the bottom line is that good communication and situational awareness will prevent problems. Thanks for your comment.
@@diamondstarpilot absolutely, good comm coming into JZI is is definitely the key. However, every time when I fly into JZI, I’m alway with CHS DEP flight following. I never came RWY 04 thou. I bet that would be a nice approach coming in from over Folly Beach area.
Man, you came to my town. Wish I've known. We could have met up to grab a bit to eat. Anyways, how did the golfing go? What field did you guys go to?
I left a couple comments on your recent videos that I was coming down, I don't have a direct way to contact you.
It was a good trip. The weather was great. The FBO at KJZI is a bit pricey.
Cool video. I’m curious why you fly on the right side of the plane?
As a flight instructor I spend most of my time sitting on the right. As a result I am more comfortable flying from that side. I "force" myself to fly from the left seat occasionally to stay proficient on that side.
